Hotel's Favourite
Grand old hotel that has been updated/renovated but still has its charm and spacious accommodation, lounge and restaurant. Located not far from Old Parliament House (well worth a tour) and the restaurants in Kingston and Manuka. Great big bathroom with walk in shower - comes with a lounge chair and ottoman for putting your feet up after a day's sighting. We enjoyed our breakfast each day in the restaurant which has a delightfully enclosed verandah (conservatory?) - dinner in the main part of the restaurant was good with plenty of menu choices. Parking out the front of the hotel and at the side of the hallway to the rooms. Staff were personable and efficient and you felt welcome. Would stay here again (been over the years past to Canberra on business many times and did not know this gem existed).

We had a great stay. The room was a good size and great decor. The staff at reception were very helpful. The food in the restaurant was delicious, as were the bar snacks. The hotel is in a great location. We would definitely stay here again.

Good location if the purpose of the trip is to visit NGA as it is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. A short 5 minutes drive or a leisure 20 minutes walk to the restaurants along the waterfront in Kingston. Parking is a problem as there is limited parking on site even though you are willing to pay for it. One have to battle the street parking after 5pm and removing it before 10am as the street parking is mostly 2 hours limits.

Seizing on an email promotional idea we decided to take a short getaway and take a couple of days in Canberra. We combined a visit to the Boticelli to Van Gogh Exhibition at the National Gallery with accomodation in the wonderfully romantic Kurrajong Hotel. Great food and service from the crew in Chifley's restaurant made our stay super memorable.
