Not 100, not 500 but 1000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest play home to this magnificent, elegant Edwardian mansion. That the interiors are almost as dramatic as the exterior says it all. This is very old world grandeur with a modern twist. Bask in the warmth of the reception you receive on arrival, dine at Hadrian's Brasserie, or at the Duke's Grill. Indulge with a Vichy water spa treatment or just flop in the fantastic indoor pool. The great outdoors doesn’t get much greater. After a bracing country walk in the wilds, or round on our championship golf course, retire to the Claret Jug and the 19th Bar for a stiff brandy. Surely you deserve it ?

Beautiful venue to stay at and hosted a lovely evening event. Aga and Kinga looked after us wonderfully at breakfast and were extremely accommodating as we were a very big table! Absolutely delightful.

Aga and Kinga were great at accommodating us and worked hard the entire time to make sure we were comfortable and happy with our breakfast. They were the stars of the show! Resort is clean and services are excellent.

Visited for golf break two rounds of golf and overnight stay. Both courses were in good condition and challenging. Other than the sand in the bunkers being below par the general feeling was two excellent courses. The rooms we’re good and the breakfast and meals that were included in our package. The layout of the hall was good and we all enjoyed the stay

This is a lovely hotel, set in beautiful grounds - the public rooms are elegant and our bedroom was "better than average". However the restaurant is struggling - and it seems , primarily, to be a "management" issue. The young staff are (generally) smart, enthusiastic and helpful........but there is a surfeit of "managers" - note the small "m" - 2 or 3 are excellent, but their are others who have no interest in providing a proper level of customer service - and, a couple of them, are setting a very bad example to the younger members of staff. There appears to be a desperate need for a "big M" Manager to ensure that service standards are maintained at a consistently good level. Whilst, perhaps a lesser issue, we did find that the menu choices were much more restrictive, and repetitive, than we have enjoyed at other Q Hotels in recent months........in this context its a "good do significantly better".........overall though, we would like to return if Trip Advisor reports show the sort of consistency one would expecct

We were lucky to get a deal on the room rate by booking directly with the hotel but the room was badly in need of refurbishment. The hairdryer did not work nor did the TV remote control. We tried phoning reception but there was no answer. We reported this to reception the next day. Food in the restuarant was good and the service excellent. However the drinks in the bar are extorniate and the prices are not easily visible. Therefore quite a shock to be charged £11.85 for a gin & tonic and half a pint of cider. On the plus side the outdoor facilities are lovely and we were able to easily spectate at the Prefosessional PGA championship. We did not use the Spa or Gym. All in all a mixed review - there is considerable room for improvement.

Really enjoyed our Spa Lunch thanks to fantastic service from Aga in the restaurant. We had chicken Caesar salad and the pepperoni flatbread followed by the berry fruit salad for desert - all of which was really good and was enjoyed with a beautiful view of the golf course! Special thanks again to Aga, you were so lovely to us and really made our day! Thank you!

This is not my first time visiting Slaley Hall but it will be my last. I would have been better off staying in a local pub. The rooms are shabby and dated. No room service anymore. If you want ‘room service’ you have to go to the restaurant to order your food and drink and then they call you when it is ready to be collected. So carried my own drinks back to the room. A waiter did actually bring my food to my room so I should be grateful for that but my £17.50 belly pork meal was served in a pizza box and was not even on a plate. This place has no standards anymore. I returned the meal to the restaurant. Any decent chef would be horrified that his food was being served on cardboard.

Dear Yvonne Thank you for your review and my apologies for your stay not matching your expectations. We have just started a light bedroom refurbishment following on from the bar, restaurant and ground floor refurbishment we completed at the end of last year. and restaurants. We are offering room service on request. I will check why this wasn't communicated to you correctly. In addition we simply are not training our staff to deliver room service in a box - unless it is pizza. We do have may new starters for the summer season and clearly more training is needed. Thank you for bring this to my attention.
