The Hilton Southampton - Utilita Bowl is lauded for its strategic location near the Hampshire Cricket Ground, offering guests a comfortable and welcoming ambiance, notably through its inviting bar and relaxing vibe. While the hotel's cleanliness generally receives commendations, rooms are a point of contention among guests—some find them spacious and well-appointed, yet others report maintenance and cleanliness issues. Opinions on service and value are mixed; a number of visitors appreciate the attentive staff but are critical of the hotel's perceived high prices and additional costs. The amenities, including well-received breakfast options, are a highlight, although the unavailability of certain facilities like the executive lounge is sometimes mentioned unfavorably.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
We had a cruise package with dinner, bed & breakfast and 15 nights parking.
The welcome was very friendly and informative.
The room was large and well appointed.
The whole hotel was modern and well maintained.
3 course meal at beefys was one of the best meals we have had in many years. The restaurant seemed to be run by young staff, but all were very professional, friendly and attentive.

Slept like a log in the huge and comfortable king sized bed.

Next day the breakfast was in beefys and was a large choice if items hot and cold buffet style.

Transfer too and from port was well organised and easy.

We usually stay at hotels near the port, but this is very much a game changer and we will be staying here in the future.

Just one disappointment..... we cannot stay for our next cruise in October as hotel is fully booked!
Just shows how popular it must be.

If you can, I definitely recommend you do stay here.

And EXCELLENT stay, thank you all very much.

Good Visit to this hotel but you pay for the view mainly. We got a suite with pitch view which was lovely but for the price I think the hotel needs to up their game a bit make the rooms more luxurious in the way of little extras. They make a difference. Example- chocs embroidered slippers or even printed logo slippers. The water is nice touch in the logo bottle this is nice. The bathroom soaps creams should be in both toilets. There should be a pillow menu and instructions for adjusting the temp in the room it was cold most of the night and trip! Reception helped with it on the phone but it was still cold.
The leather chairs in room needed a clean on the top around the rim and there was crisps under the tv unit.
Reception were ok check in was fast but could be better could be more about the customer and welcoming on arrival and throughout the trip. Look smart and be more clear when serving and friendly. It’s not all about the quickness but you go back to places which treat you well.
Our room wasn’t ready we were offered to sit in the lounge but not told tones lounge would be open for a drink so we were offered a room to sit in with locked fridges!
The bar was nice but not well layed out. You could fit better and more tables and chairs. They seemed under staffed in there.
The spa was great very professional friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed my trip there. I think if reception were like the spa area it would be great.
The lounge was nice but didn’t feel very executive or special food was cold and the beige chairs were dirty. We thought it would have been similar to the Sofitel lounge really special but it wasn’t. We didn’t spend long because it didn’t feel inviting you need a better selection of foods and warm.
The balcony and seating area in the rooms were spot on lovely really something great view of the pitch. But I feel if you are charging this rate for these rooms the service and extras needs to be more special the customer needs to feel more special no matter the room rate you have booked.
We did enjoy though but just feel if you don’t know these things how can they be improved.

Just had a one night stay & can’t recommend enough. We had booked an executive king room which had a view/balcony over looking the Ageas bowl ground which was amazing. Room was lovely, really comfortable & spotlessly clean. It felt very COVID safe with the room door having a seal & remote control had a sleeve so you knew it had been cleaned. The executive lounge isn’t open so we were given a voucher for 2 free drinks from the bar. Breakfast was well organised & tasty. Special thanks to young man who was rushed off his feet but was still very helpful & served our teas/coffees with a smile. The hotel is doing everything right in the current climate with numerous hand sanitisers available in the bars & by the lifts & also clearly marked one way systems. Would definitely stay here again.

Our stay at this Hilton was incredible, the receptionists were super helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room overlooking the cricket pitch was amazing and with a lovely balcony we were able to spend time on when the sun came out. The bed was like sleeping on clouds and was so comfy and spacious, the only thing missing would have been a mini fridge to keep our drinks cool. Both the room and the bathroom was spotless and couldn’t find a fault with either, felt very safe within this hotel with covid restrictions and hand sanitiser conveniently placed around the hotel.
The only down side to this hotel is that My partner planned this stay as a surprise after our engagement because of the spa facilities but to our surprise you had to pay an extra £45pp and book to use the swimming pool and jacuzzi which was very disappointing.
Overall we absolutely loved our stay at this hotel but would rather it have been better advertised about the spa facilities allowing us to make other plans if needed. Would definitely return if staying in the area again!
Thank you so much x

I haven’t stayed with the Hilton group for years. I’ll now be returning. We booked this last minute stay the day before, and it did not disappoint!
I have not taken both dogs to a hotel before, as we had two rooms booked I knew we wouldn’t be cramped. Bare in mind they only have dogs up to 30kg, and their terms and conditions are quite strict.
Housekeeping turned up to the room with new dog beds, toys , treats, bowl etc and they were very pleased. Lots of lovely dog walks from the hotel. The lady was fabulous with the dogs.
The manager and another lady on reception were so welcoming, and it helped they loved dogs too.
Your staff are the reason as to why we would come back, also the fabulous Spa. I thought it was just a ‘dip pool’ but it was a hydrotherapy pool... which medically helped me a lot.
Husband and daughter also used the Spa, and we all came away very refreshed and spoilt!

Thank you for your superb hospitality !

I stayed here for a couple of nights I didn’t bother booking breakfast on my Hotels.com app as it was mega expensive on the app when I arrived I was offered breakfast for £12 per day which is acceptable so I booked.
I attended the restaurant the following morning fully masked up and abiding by the social distancing rules etc. I was shown to a table and asked for tea and orange juice
The tea arrived, pot with enough for one cup and a small carton of orange juice.
I was told that to order cooked breakfast I would have to go to a makeshift serving area and speak to “chef” who will serve me
Nothing really wrong so far
I asked for 2 poached eggs on toast the reply was “I can’t do poached eggs because of covid” I was absolutely stunned the “chef” or server couldn’t provide this
He said “I can do scrambled or fried” these had been kept warm for a period of time and so extremely rubbery. I had to have fried as they were unmoving but they did however retrieve some fresh toast (warm bread) from the kitchen, the very same kitchen someone was cooking items for the servery “chef”
Anyway breakfast was appalling none of the staff came to ask if I wanted a top up of tea or juice they just seemed to disappear or ignore the customers.
As nobody came to speak to me which I would have raised the issues I just left and Twitter shamed them. As if by magic a response! I provided my name, booking ref, phone number and email address so they could respond as their message to me read that the local team wanted to “reach out to me and make it right”
On my arrival back at the hotel that evening I went to reception to get my keys recut, they were ready for me but to my surprise nobody from the staff mentioned my experience of the morning but hey ho maybe they were busy
After being in my room a few minutes I had a text message from a Louise at the hotel to tell me I had been refunded the mornings charge. I replied cancelling breakfast for the following morning and queried why they did not call me to discuss as there were many issues that needed resolving.
Louise responded telling me they take privacy extremely seriously and I should reply privacy to view their policy
Well I must say Hilton management are extremely poor at this hotel as they do not want to face problems head on and are not willing to listen to feedback although I gave them every opportunity to do so they are burying their heads in the sand. How do they improve or find out about issues if they don’t engage with clients?
I am a business traveler staying in 3-4 hotels weekly so I don’t generally write reviews unless they deserve it good or bad.
In the current times with restrictions etc (that prevent poaching eggs (maybe poached eggs give you the virus?)) every penny should count for any business especially in the hospitality sector but if this hotel carries on like this then clients they do have will rethink how they spend their money, I certainly will in future in this area which I stay about 15 nights a year!

Stayed for 1 night whilst visiting people in the area. Had a deluxe twin room with balcony overlooking the cricket pitch. It was a lovely day when we arrived and there was a match in progress so we sat on our balcony and enjoyed the spectacle for a while. The hotel is well geared up to the Covid regulations, screens everywhere in reception, plenty of sanitizer and the lifts restricted to 2 people at a time or a family group. We went down and had a drink outside in the bar area - all table service and the tables well separated. Also ate in the restaurant both in the evening (separate review) and for breakfast. Breakfast a full buffet with clear signs and one way system - did get a little congested but mainly people practised social distancing. Tables were quickly cleared and sanitized.
We felt very safe throughout our stay and will do so again.

Stayed six nights, being a Diamond member we were upgraded to a balcony room overlooking the cricket pitch. The view was unique, the room large, clean and comfortable, good shower. The executive lounge was closed so we received drinks vouchers for the bar
Booking was required for breakfast which was well organized, the staff were friendly and professional. All Covid rules enforced, extra towels and supplies delivered quickly on request.
Plenty free parking onsite. We had dinner in the restaurant twice, once using a Groupon deal, the food was good although a bit pricey and the menu restricted. Hotel guests get 20% discount at the Spa and I got in for a manicure at fairly short notice. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

“Make it Right” is a lie. This hotel has progressively gotten worse and worse every time we come. We travel to the UK about twice a year to visit my husband’s family and stay for 2 weeks at a time. We’ve been coming for 4 years, and every time we come back it gets worse and worse. We pay for the executive lounge to have access to beverages, and the fridges were locked every single time we went in there, and the water was gone for 3 days. I was sick the whole trip and needed fluids, and thought the extra money I paid for the access would allow me to have drinks, and that was a misconception. You used to be able to get drinks at all hours, they used to serve hot breakfast in there. Now, I’m forced to pay for the breakfast rate in addition, and there’s literally hair in the food and so many food safety infractions that would NEVER fly in America, that it would make your head spin.
The safe in our room was broken (it had no power). The clock was broken (no power).
There’s never enough parking.
We called for more toilet paper, and waited 2 hours, and it never came so we had to buy our own for the whole stay.
We called to talk to a manager, but there was none, so we left a message to call us back— they never did.
We asked the manager to contact us at checkout— still never happened.
Not that anything would come from us. It’s all empty promises/lies.
We had problems last time we visited, and the manager emailed me and promised to upgrade us to an executive lounge and bed and breakfast rate on our next stay. When I inquired if that “make it right” promise still stood, that manager doesn’t work there anymore and the new manager told me there was no availability... funny— I was able to book those rates myself, though! So they were available, he just didn’t honor the promise.
There are not a lot of options for hotels in the area to be near my husband’s family. If there were, we’d have stopped staying there long ago. I kept hoping our concerns would be heard and they’d want to make our experiences better, but I can see now that they just don’t care about their guests. This hotel is made for events and conferences, clearly— not for visitors. I can’t believe they hold the Hilton name. There’s a Holiday Inn next door, and we will be taking our business there next time. It’s truly shocking that a Holiday Inn is even a contender as competition with a Hilton. It’s shameful.

Recently stayed at the hotel whilst playing in the boundary course.

First thing to note they take the whole COVID piece seriously and provide adequate face masks and sanitizer for guests. The sanitizer is all over the hotel, dining areas and the gym.

Staff very friendly and helpful and overall enjoyable stay.

Breakfast selection was good although fresh croissants would have completely nailed it.

Dinner okay but nothing special.

Overall we would certainly stay there again on a golf package.

Southampton Airport Parkway is the train stop you need. Hotel does not have a shuttle, but there is a Taxi Rank outside the station. If you want to come to the Hilton from Heathrow by taxi it wouldn't be a problem, but would suggest you arrange it with one of the local taxi firms the hotel uses: 02380 666666- Southampton Radio Cars.

Yes they have a cruise and stay package, however I always found them more expensive than cruise parking with CPS or if you are departing from the Ocean Terminal then I would use Triangle Parking at Ocean Terminal (need to depart and arrive from Ocean Terminal to make this work) . CPS was £151 for 14 days last time I checked and that is right at the port next to the ship.
