The Pilgrim has never disappointed we have eaten here on a few occasions but this time we stayed in the hotel part for 3 nights including breakfast and it's been a fabulous mini break. First we would like to thank Katie and Cullum for looking after us so incredibly well, nothing was too much trouble as well as all other members of the team. Spotlessly clean, adhered to the Covid policy and everything has been thought through to ensure the safety of everyone enjoying their visit, thanks to the chef and his team excellent food, standards have not been compromised by the current situation - the 10.00pm deadline did not seem to impact on the venue being busy. Really enjoyed our stay in an enormous room and the location giving access to visit interesting areas like Beaulieu Village and the New Forest generally.

Hada great week here for my 40th Birthday. Staff are amazing helpful and go above to make your stay pleasant. The food is a limited menu but we found something different to eat the nights we did (5 nights) food is tasty and good portions. Breakfast had loads of options and vegan/gluten free options too can recommend the porridge and the rice pudding dessert 😋 room was clean and spacious (room 11, upstairs) pillows were too soft for me but asked for different ones and they accommodated gratefully. Will defo come back, special thanks to the manager and assistant manager (sorry didn't get your names) you made my bday day magical.

I have been waiting to post this as I have now received a refund from the manager for the lack of cooked breakfast - Thanks Matt, Over the August bank holiday weekend they were short staffed. For some reason this meant if you had a dog with you then you were served first. After waiting over half an hour for our order to be taken, (the person who had taken our tea/juice order would not take cooked breakfast order), we helped ourselves from the cold buffet. Tea was now stewed but we weren’t offered any more. Other people then did the same and took items from the cold buffet, nothing was replaced so later arrivals had very little choice. Noticed the next morning that the items weren’t topped up for quite a long time. It would have been nice to have known on arrival at breakfast that there would be a delay.

There is ample parking. The room and shower room were spacious with lots of storage and very clean with good wife. There were complimentary bottles of water and the kettle was large and quick. You could choose to have the room fully serviced or just request items which needed replacing/changing.

We had a bit of a wait to get our key when checking in. The shower was over complicated. The brown walls made the room very dark and there were no net curtains to the room which overlooked the car park. One of the beds creaked a bit.

We ate in the restaurant for two evenings. On both nights service was quick and efficient (served by Emily). On both nights we chose glasses of wine and on each night one of the two we chose was not available (we only got charged for one on the second night). The menu choice did seem a bit limited, particularly the starters and desserts so would not want to stay many nights. The profiterole looked very strange but was delicious.

Dear "Amanda W" Thanks for the 4 stars! And also the detailed review, it seems balanced and honest which is all we can expect so thank you. You are correct, we did ideally need 2 or 3 more members of staff however there seems to be a very low interest within recruitment into the hospitality sector at the moment. We are making headway however with a new full-time team coming together week by week. Even throughout September there are huge strides forward. Thanks for your other kind words too, we hopefully will see you again! Regards, Matt E - GM

Visited this Inn for one night with my wife. Initially the place is quite pleasant. The buildings are both thatched and look pretty. The staff were welcoming and the standard room was of a good size. In the room was a complementary small bottle of red wine and a bottle of London Pride. Teapig teabags were available and sachets of coffee. However upon looking at the coffee my wife discovered it was a year out of date. Fresh milk was available in a fridge in the corridor. We took the coffee back to reception and the manager indicated it was a fresh delivery and commented coffee does not go off? I had also not been able to get a Wi-Fi connection in our room and was told it played up and I would have to log on in the bar before taking any device back to my room!? We had a drink in the bar and found prices on the high side. When we returned to our room we started to notice the dust on many of the surfaces obviously not recent. I would guess some months of accrual. In between the window and the secondary double glazing there were a considerable number of dead flies. The bed was a metal frame which stood well above the carpet and it was easy to see a considerable build up of dust under the bed. Cobwebs could be seen around the room. In the bathroom the toilet brush was filthy and needed replacement. The housekeeping standards are very poor. No matter what management might say in response to this review this is a long term issue and not simply an oversight. The next morning we used the shower which we also found dirty with poor water pressure. There is a choice of a monsoon shower head or wall
shower. I am 6 foot tall and my head touched the monsoon head whilst I was using the wall shower. The only redeeming features of the room were good quality towels and bedding and a good sized TV.
Upon checkout the next morning I advised the receptionist of the issues but she did not seem interested other than to say the room was cleaned every day! I certainly could not recommend staying here and will unfortunately not be returning.

Convenient for the New Forest and only a short drive from Southampton, The Pilgrim Inn backs onto the busy Marchwood by-pass. However, rooms are well insulated and we heard no noise from our first floor superior room. The hotel building is separate from the pub, there’s no lift and so suggest a ground floor room if you suffer from mobility issues. Our room (12) was large, with separate bathroom area which had a freestanding bath and shower cubicle (the complimentary small bottle of gin, beer and water was a nice touch). I did mention to the manager that rooms would benefit from a coat hook and usb sockets. Good wifi throughout.

We had dinner in the pub both nights of our stay, as well as breakfast. Unfortunately the Sunday trio of roasts was tough (perhaps it had been sitting under the warmer for too long?) and gravy was glutinous to say the least! However, the game faggots were excellent and the cheeseboard one of the best I’ve had. Ales on tap are the usual Fullers range (London Pride/HSB/Seafarer). Breakfast consisted of the standard options you would expect.

Hi "nnmercman", Thank you for your 4 star review! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and weren't disturbed by road noise! I do however, apologise for the quality of your Sunday roast. This isn't our usual standard and definitely something we will improve on! Hopefully we can welcome you back again and make this 4 star, a 5! Kind regards Kirsty - DM

Needing a dog friendly hotel near Beaulieu and after reading various reviews for hotels in the vicinity I opted to book three nights at The Pilgrim Inn. I’m so pleased I did. Two lovely thatched buildings, one housing the pub and restaurant the other the hotel rooms, the outside seating area was well maintained.
The superior double room we were allocated was spacious, well decorated and spotlessly clean, my springer enjoyed his gift of a tennis ball found in the water bowl they’d put in the room for him. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant with nothing being too much trouble.
The evening meals and breakfast were delicious,
I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the New Forest.
I have already booked next year’s stay with them.

Originally chosen for convenience to visit relatives, this beautiful thatched, boutique hotel suprised us with its laid back luxury. Room 6 was spacious, styled in a totally non- business hotel way, with a very comfortable, contemporary four poster bed, a large bathroom, including a double shower and bath robes with slippers. I would have preferred a slightly oversized duvet, but really have no complaints at all. It was a very peaceful night and we slept extremely well.
Across the car park is the also thatched inn where meals may be taken. Our very reasonable rate included a large breakfast but we aslo took our evening meal there. The food was very tasty and extremely filling.
The staff were welcoming and the cleanliness of hotel rooms and inn, excellent.
It will be our "go to" hotel for future visits.

We stayed overnight, bed breakfast and evening meal booked directly with the Pilgrim Inn. Room was clean, spacious, decorated beautifully and comfortable. In spite of location (a busy road runs behind the pub car park) our room was very quiet and peaceful. Both the evening meal and breakfast were excellent and really good value. I think they were a bit short staffed (like a lot of places at the moment dealing with covid) but staff really worked hard and I couldn't fault them. If your heading this way I would highly recommend it as a place to stay and eat.

Dear "Tracy63M" Wow, how nice to read this review, we all really appreciate the time you took to write it. Thank you for staying with us, we all enjoyed hosting you. You are correct, Covid isolation levels within the local community and the team are very high so those of us still working are all doing so, with lots of effort and determination. Thanks for the kind words on food and hotel rooms too. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards, Matt E - GM

We were meant to be going on holiday to canada this year. But covid 19 put pay to that.
So i searched for 5 days to find a lovely place to visit to get away for a few days. I thought I had found the perfect place pilgrim inn. The reviews were amazing.
When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised.

When we entered our room it appeared to be a nice room.
But on closer inspection. We found the sofa was dirty, the room had a funny smell. The bathroom had a rusty toilet brush container. I would of thought these problems would have been sorted while they were closed.
The food was appalling we had a roast the 1st night.
The beef was tough, the roast potatoes had been cooked at least twice and were rock hard. The carrots burnt at £17 for a roast I expected it to be perfect. I'm a kitchen manager and I would never dish that up in my restaurant.
The breakfast was terrible too burnt toast really burnt every ones was the same. Hard poached eggs. Burnt hard bacon.
Again who serves up burnt toast.
I complained and was given a discount of £25
The stay cost us £353 for 3 night's so it wasn't cheap.
The only thing good about the place was the staff were nice.
I won't be going back

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Pilgrims Inn at Marchwood.
Great accommodation with a beautifully quiet oldie Worldy Thatched inn
just a few steps from where the large rooms are situated.
A great location for getting to anywhere in the New Forest very quickly and easily.
Breakfast was multiple choice and if you just want to fall into bed
after enjoying an evening meal without having to worry about drinking and driving, then you have it all.
We had two evening meals in the bar/restaurant and very much enjoyed them both.
The accommodation and inn are dog friendly and they are made to feel very welcome by the staff.
A bowl for food and water is thoughtfully provided in the room, along with a ball !
We had a large superior room with a very comfortable king size bed and a rolled top bath which my wife in particular enjoyed.
Matt the general manager who lives on site was a familiar face throughout
and knowing that I was coming unto my 70th birthday kindly popped in with a card from himself and the staff.
All in all a first class stay in this 5 star establishment and extremely good value for our money.
Highly recommended.
