My family of 4, in addition to 4 other families just returned from Now Sapphire yesterday. (10 adults, 9 kids ages 9-15) My family has traveled to several all inclusives in the Caribbean, and unfortunately this will be the last time at that resort . We traveled far and the beach was not usable (I know it is mother nature, but still the entire group never stepped foot on the beach) Thankfully we chartered a boat and got to show the kids some blue water. The resort was clean and the staff was AMAZING. The food was just average (maybe even slightly below compared to others) but we know what you get at all-inclusives. The check in process for the preferred club was horrible, rooms were messed up and zero requests our travel agents made were honored. We had one family with us in tears and arguing with the resort 20 min in. (they made it right day 2) The main pool was large and clean and we enjoyed ourselves. Overall, i would say look elsewhere for an all inclusive as you will be dissapointed if you have had good experiences with others. Due to the fun group we traveled with and the entertainment staff (Luis, Ivan and crew were amazing) as well as a few bartenders (Pedro) and waiters (Eloy and Mardo) ....we had fun...but still bummed we did not get more for our spend. Seaweed smell was awful and you could not avoid it. This property is renaming itself to Dreams, but not sure that will make any difference.

My husband and I traveled with our 3 kids ages 7,9&11, and stayed for 10 days. We booked a deal through Apple Vacations, flew Frontier and used AmStar for round-trip transportation. I joined a couple of FB groups dedicated to this resort in the weeks leading up to our stay, so I thought I had "managed my expectations", but I was wrong. Do I regret my stay overall? No. Do I wish I would have paid more to stay at a resort on a better maintained stretch of beach with less seaweed? Yes. In the future I will choose to spend my money elsewhere. Transportation went smoothly. My only complaint is that confirming the return trip should all be done via email. I was instructed to go to the AmStar desk to confirm return travel, when I did, I stood in line for 30 mins to sit at a desk where the rep took 3 mins to confirm and send me an email. Then he tried selling me excursion when I clearly told him I was not interested. The whole process took about 45 mins (wasted time). We arrived around 2pm and check-in went smoothly. After check-in, we sat a t a VIP desk where a VIP rep rambled on at high speed about so much information that we didn't remember. Lol. This is where we received 2 coupon booklets worth "$200" each that we did not use. Booking the COVID test was simple through the app (everything for the resort is done through the app - make sure you download it before going). The test was quick and we got our results the same day. We stayed in a Preferred Tropical Jr. Family Suite in building 14, rooms 1433/34. Perfect location centrally located behind the water slides and on the path to the adults only pool. The room was excellent! Very clean and spacious. It was basically 2 adjoining rooms each with their own bathroom, tv, mini fridge and balcony. It was perfect for our family of 5. We had issues with the shower drain and the A/C not working well. Within a few minutes of me calling, there was a maintenance man in our room working to fix it. Tip: In our room in the entryway there was a vent in the ceiling. We noticed it was caked full of dust. We brought it to their attention and once it was taken out for cleaning our room was so much cooler! Check your vent if your AC isn't working correctly. Turn down service was a nice perk, but only happened randomly a couple of times during our stay. If you want your mini-fridge restocked you have to call for it, its not done automatically. Housekeeping is top-notch (don't forget to tip all these people!) Big pool was great. Entertainment staff do their job very well! My kids and husband had a lot of fun playing the Crazy Games and I had fun watching. The entertainment staff also got the entire pool to sing Happy Birthday to my 7 yr old and it was hilarious! Good job, guys! Martin and Victor both were lovely during our stay. On our second day, there was a misunderstanding where my pool bag with my phone and other belongings was mistakenly taken by another family (I got everything back the next morning!). M and V both did everything in their power to help me out. They kept checking on me everyday after that to make sure my family was enjoying themselves. I was able to get a Bali Bed 3 times during our stay by going out to sit by the pool concierge by 745 am. You have to be Preferred to stand in line for a bed, but VIP (higher level) gets 1st choice and does not have to stand in line. So there might be only a few beds available each day. Totally worth the effort tho if you have kids. The lounger saving game is strong at this resort. Especially since literally nobody is using the beach. We got lucky and usually got a lounger on the days we needed them, but if you want one in the shade, get up *early* and leave more than a towel on one. It sucks, but you're forced to play the game. There are 3 water slides - my kids enjoyed them and we had no problems with height or age to allow them to slide. Beach towels are plentiful. Food. Ugh. Food is mediocre at best. We've been to several AI's in the Caribbean and this one had the worst food. We only had 2 memorable meals in our 10 day stay: the Mexican Buffet was amazing! And the Hibachi was fun and delicious. Everything else was just...meh. Breakfast (Preferred) at Cibu was great because it has A/C and you can sit and enjoy a mimosa instead of sweating and standing in line for an omelet at the buffet. Francisco was our favorite server - he was great! We tried to eat the dinner buffet a couple times when it was in the theater, but it was uncomfortable: weird lighting, overly loud music with house music/dj concerts playing on the movie screens over the stage. Its not an ideal environment to enjoy dinner. You have to yell to hear each other talk. We tried not to eat the buffet when it was in there. We enjoyed Coco Cafe and the convenience of having an actual coffee shop on site. And its the only place to find food/snacks after 8pm. Sometimes they even have little panini sandwiches at like 10pm. Most nights this place was a life-saver with hungry kiddos. Great iced lattes, too! Cesar made excellent margaritas on the rocks over in the adults pool. I was satisfied with all the other drinks we got from the pool bar and waitstaff. Bottled water is plentiful if you ask for it. The water served in the restaurants is safe to drink as it comes from large Culligan-type water jugs. We had no problems with the water. We used the Explorer Club (kid's club) a few times and Ms Jessica and Ms Lizeth were excellent with the kiddos (tip them well!). My kids enjoyed the activities, watching movies, and playing the video games. It was a nice change for us as well on the nights our boys went to dinner with them. Good job, Ladies! We paid to be "Preferred". There are no bracelets or anything to identify the different levels, so anybody can use the Preferred Club or walk into the adults pool and use their bar for "top shelf" liquor. The only reason I can see that it is a true benefit is the better room (maybe?), breakfast at Cibu, and the ability to stand in line for the Bali bed. Otherwise, anyone can pretty much have the same benefits. The bike ride to Puerto Morelos was fun! The equipment (bikes, helmets, vest) are "well-loved", but worked overall. We also took the shopping trip back into PM to buy souvenirs and get ice cream. It's $9 each round trip and worth it for a change of pace. The beach was sad. Yes, we all know the seaweed is bad at this time of year. And I thought I was mentally prepared, but I was *not*. The smell is overpowering and permeates everything. It hits you like a wall when you open your room door to walk outside. Yes, we got acclimated to it and some days were worse than others depending on the breeze. The sand is nice for beach volleyball and my kids played croquet on the beach. But you cannot touch the water. The seaweed is a couple feet high and a few yards deep. There is a tractor that randomly moves the seaweed but does not make a dent. If you want to play in the ocean, find a resort that can manage their beach or stay in a different part of Mexico. I wish we had. (We had friends staying in Riviera Maya at the same time and their resort managed to keep the majority of the seaweed at bay. She had no idea what I was talking about when I complained about the smell.) Usually we stay one week during these vacations, but after the stress of the past year we decided to stay 10 days here. After 1 week we were all ready to go home and were looking forward to eating a good meal. While the employees at this resort truly are excellent and work hard, it does not make up for the shortcomings of the food and many of the processes of the workings of the resort. I spent an inordinate amount of time standing in line for things, etc. There is also no consistency with the mask wearing protocols. Trip tips: *Bring an insulated mug and reusable straw - it just makes enjoying drinks that much easier. *3M hooks for the bathroom to hang wet suits and towels (got mine at Dollar Tree). *Bring lots of $1's and $5's to tip *everyone*. The staff is great, but you'll get better service. Plus, they just deserve it. *Pack light. Really. We were there 10 days and I only used 2 swim suits, 1 pair of sandals, and rotated 3 sundresses for the evening. Everything else I packed basically sat untouched. *Bring lots of sunscreen and basic meds like Advil, Pepto, etc. There is a gift shop on site but the prices are outrageous. (ie: my kid wanted a little water skipping ball for the pool. It was $26 usd in the gift shop but we found the exact same one at the grocery store in PM for $6). While I recognize the privilege of being able to travel during a pandemic and realize the resort is likely struggling with staffing and protocols due to COVID, I am generally not picky and not too hard to please. Like I said in the beginning of this review, I don't regret our trip to Mexico and we made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves, but I would not choose to spend my money to stay here again. There is no way that this place deserves the "6 Golden Apple" status that Apple Vacations awarded it (based on the food alone). Thank you to the staff that helped make our trip enjoyable!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Now Sapphire on July 11-26. I started with a week staying at the resort with a friend. After my family of 20 showed up. First of all, I loved the relaxed vibe of the Now Sapphire. From the moment we arrived someone was always asking if they could help me. The food, activities, and every part of my stay was top notch wonderful. The accommodations were excellent. Now I am going to tell you the biggest reason I will come back to the NOW Sapphire. There are so many places to go but I will come back here because the Entertainment crew who are now my FAMILY. :) That is the way they made me and my family feel from the time we started our days until we retired. Every day I would get so excited to come out and PLAY! I work work work and the daily grind of life had me wound up. The alcohol, ocean, spa, vacation mode didn't affect me the way The Entertainment Crew made me feel. Every day I could not wait to see my new friends to see what they were up and to...they always had the best things planned. They were so professional, courteous, helpful, and genuinely ready to help make my stay full of JOY and fun. They also reminded me to relax and enjoy! I am so grateful for that continued reminder from them. Luigi Karley Naomi Omar Julio Omar Effron and others I can't remember :) They walked around all day long and asked how we were. They had fabulous activities planned every hour and were prompt. The poured their hearts into everything they did for us! Everything they touched turned in to magic.
