I would not recommend this place. From the day we arrived, our days were consumed with spending time fixing our reservation. During Covid we bought a voucher to support Saii when they weren’t having any business. It was a 5 day voucher we could use any time. We confirmed dates in March 2021 with our friends. We upgraded two of the days and paid almost full price to have a 2 bedroom over the water villa for two of the days. Since January we have been in contact with the resort including adding an additional day onto our reservation that we paid full price for. Upon arrival, nothing went smoothly. We wanted to spend money and have a once in a lifetime experience, but it was far from enjoyable. A few days Prior to arrival, we got an email asking if we wanted to upgrade our sky room to a beach villa or a king over the water. There was also an option to buy a $250 resort credit. I requested both things (resort credit and room Upgrade). Upon arrival i inquired about both things and neither was followed up on. We were taken to our room and the person who took us asked what room we wanted and suggested that since we are moving to an over the water at the end of our trip that we do a beach villa. This was never followed up on. The next day we went and asked about our 20 free drinks and how we get those and turns out we were supposed to have been given a voucher to use as specific places. At this same time, the front desk person said to us “you haven’t paid for your over the water but that’s okay you can square up at the end.” We also discovered we weren’t getting our 15% discount we were supposed to get which caused issues every time we went to check out. The next day i get a phone call asking to come talk to the front desk about our move to the over the water villa. They proceed to tell us that we never paid for the room so they gave it to someone else. In exchange they would move each of us couples to a king over the water villa but we would have to pay $200/night more. We had this planned almost a year, flew 30 hours, this took 1.5 hours of our time during prime sunshine time and ruined a full day for us. I have never met people in customer service who take something away from customers and then ask them to pay more money. I had talked to two other front desk people and who knew we were moving rooms and never stated we needed to pay. It was also unfortunate because one person in our party doesn’t go in the ocean, hence the request for the two bedroom as it has a pool. After an hour ++ they made right by comping us the king over the water rooms, but it ruined our trip. Traveling 30+ hours for a trip You’ve had planned since 2020 and having it changed is a bummer. That same day we asked for a meal time for of the restaurants. It was a little late for us, but we said we would take it but asked if there was anything earlier. Within 3 minutes they gave our reservation away and had the nerve to message us “good news, 830 is no longer available”. How is that good news?! You just gave our reservation away!! Upon check out, there were dinners charged to our friends room when they hadn’t even eaten at that restaurant that night. Upon check out, they told one of us couples we could stay in our room until 6 pm but the other had to have their luggage about by 1230. The food was mediocre. Multiple people in our group got sick after eating seafood. We resorted to Sphagetti and pizza via room service. The staff slowly started being friendly to us. We travel all over the world and this was a major disappointment. The communication and way this place is run needs a major revamp. I hope other people have better luck than us.

So I had an opportunity to spend a few days before departing the Maldives at the SAII Lagoon. I had just spent 5 days at a pretty high end resort but really enjoyed my short stay at the SAII which is more of a reasonably priced experience at least in the Maldives. I was able to stay here using 2 free nights vouchers from Hilton as part of my benefit of being a Hilton Aspire Amex holder and then on top of that as I am a Diamond member the property really took care of me upgrading me to a beach villa which I found to be really nice way to enjoy the island. So after arriving back in Male on my seaplane charter, I checked in with the SAII desk and was on a short boat ride probably within 45 mins of checking in. The 25 min trip took us to a marina on the island and myself and other guest were greeted by reps from hilton and also from hard rock as there 2 properties here…more on that later. I was greeted and whisked away to checkin where I was met by one of the managers who explained how the SAII lagoon experience works. Basically aside from the Hard Rock and SAII Properties there is a marina with restaurants and stores and all are interconnected on the same billing system so I could bill everything to my SAII bill. This is kind of a cool concept so that you have a bit more variety vs just staying at one resort but with the simplicity of easy billing. I was taken to my upgraded room which was a beach villa. Basically it’s a small duplex building and then you have strategically place foliage which separates you from you neighbor on the outside where you have beach chairs and patio, the beach is right in front of you probably less than 50 feet. I found the room to be very fun with a nice bathroom with an outside tub and shower. Again very appreciative of this nice upgrade. Breakfast is included for Diamond status members its not bad but maybe because I just spend 5 days at a high resort I was a bit disappointed by the selection. That being said, for my next morning I ordered the Asian congee breakfast via room service and I really enjoyed it and found it not unreasonable for the price. In fact I can say that I really enjoyed all the meals I had at the SAII and found the pricing again to be reasonable taking into account the location. The tandoori chicken pizza that I had at the pool was marvelous and a bit spicy which I like. I also had a chicken wrap with fries for another meal which was not bad either. But the beauty of it all is I was also able to walk out of the property and have a few meals in the marina and also grab a bite at the hard rock so this provides some nice variety. I spent most of my time floating around in the beach area right in front of my villa, and I really think these units are worth trying to get into either by booking directly or maybe using points and then trying to upgrade which I think is possible especially in low season. But the pool although not the biggest was quite nice and the bar is right by there and they have some really comfortable big cushioned seats all around it. I really enjoyed my experience at SAII and its an intriguing setup….this is not a negative if you want that high end super private exotic island experience I don’t think this that place, but I find SAII to be a more fun accessible probably more family friendly experience and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact I would definitely consider coming back for a longer experience. Finally I want to mention that with my departure being quite a late flight, SAII provided my the mother of all late checkouts basically 7pm so I would never had expected this obviously this is only possible if the room is available and I’m sure my Diamond status had something to do with it but even then this is really going over and above.

I felt welcomed and at home the second I stepped onto the island. I was greeted by George and a lovely gentle man from Egypt. Mohamed is unforgettable, such and honest awesome guy. The food was great, the room was excellent! My bungalow was breathtaking, clean and gorge. They have an app that allows you to easily communicate with staff anywhere on the ground. They respond in seconds, just an overall great experience and I will absolutely re-visit in the future.

A group of 4 girlfriends traveled here for our 40th birthdays. It was just an incredible experience! The beach was amazing, overwater bungalow and sky king room incredible, food options (champagne breakfast brunch) and the staff was so incredibly attentive. They even remembered the way we liked our coffee every morning at brunch. There are 2 dinner options at the resort but then you also have the option of walking or taking a buggy to the hard rock hotel or several restaurant options in the marina area (our favorite was the Thai restaurant). This would be an incredible stay for a romantic getaway or with family as well. We enjoyed the free beach activities (paddle boats or kayaks) and loved the sunrise yoga. The staff and housekeeping were just so friendly and helpful. Definitely a 5 out of 5 - Amazing experience.
