Pool; OK, both a deep part and a shallower for kids.
Restaurants; many small stands, few mid-level. Can recommend Purple Haze to the west if you are not stressed (limited bandwidth in kitchen)
Area; a bit desolate, quite a few empty buildings. Hard to tell if it's going downhill or they are expanding. Some rubbish on the empty lots. Got a couple of scooters for 200BHT per day to explore the area, just 10min to Ban Phe.
Hotel; friendly, clean, they made up the room every day. Individual water heaters in each room, work ok but not that hot. Aircon ok. Beds the regular asian ones, a bit hard, no top sheet. Safe in each room. Elevators. Breakfast was acceptable; fried rice most days, tomatoes, cucumbers, fruit, toasts, eggs, sausages. Restaurant also serves lunch/dinner, this was higher quality. One of the towels disappeared by either falling down from balcony to floor below or by room service making a mistake, had to pay for that towel which was a bit annoying. Mostly Russian and Scandinavian guests, family style.
Nightlife; Very limited, some small outdoor bars. Found a place with pool table just after the road bend east of the hotel.
According to other reviews, the pool hasn't been operational for a couple of years.
As such I had to pay to take my family elsewhere instead of them swimming which they wanted to do.
This hotel knowingly advertise a swimming pool yet do not provide it.
The person on reception outright lied to me saying he'd send for an engineer knowing he wouldn't and would use the excuse I'd be gone before they could fix it.
Shocking customer service.
BUT the hotel got older and more heavy used. The aircon is extremely loud and the bathroom (also the room)quite dirty. The beds are hard like a wooden flatbed...
It's not my recommendation any more, because of dirty beach and heavy used rooms ...
