This hotel is fantastic value for money. We had a great stay here. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly. Our room was massive and clean. The food served at the restaurant was tasty and cheap. Rayong is a very quiet location, hardly any tourists and very calm which was a welcome break having spent time in Bangkok. You can hire bikes next door and explore the local area. if you want a loud noisy tourist filled break then i wouldn't advise Rayong. But its perfect for a secluded break.

Beach; long wide clean beach just on the other side of the road, in my opinon better than Koh Samet beaches unless you like crowds. Chairs 20BHT per day, food and beverages good, not too many hawkers, overall really nice if you want a relaxing beach stay.
Pool; OK, both a deep part and a shallower for kids.
Restaurants; many small stands, few mid-level. Can recommend Purple Haze to the west if you are not stressed (limited bandwidth in kitchen)
Area; a bit desolate, quite a few empty buildings. Hard to tell if it's going downhill or they are expanding. Some rubbish on the empty lots. Got a couple of scooters for 200BHT per day to explore the area, just 10min to Ban Phe.
Hotel; friendly, clean, they made up the room every day. Individual water heaters in each room, work ok but not that hot. Aircon ok. Beds the regular asian ones, a bit hard, no top sheet. Safe in each room. Elevators. Breakfast was acceptable; fried rice most days, tomatoes, cucumbers, fruit, toasts, eggs, sausages. Restaurant also serves lunch/dinner, this was higher quality. One of the towels disappeared by either falling down from balcony to floor below or by room service making a mistake, had to pay for that towel which was a bit annoying. Mostly Russian and Scandinavian guests, family style.
Nightlife; Very limited, some small outdoor bars. Found a place with pool table just after the road bend east of the hotel.

We stayed here in March 2012 in room 802. The registration was civil nothing more. Room was dirty the toilets smelling. The linen was only 2 bath towels. The bath mat was torn. Breakfast was just sufficient. Without a bike there's nothing here. Really not worth the money. The pool looked and is dirty. Didn't dip due to fear of cathching something.

I took my family here specifically as it had a swimming pool. They are not good swimmers and we wanted a safe environment, not the sea.

According to other reviews, the pool hasn't been operational for a couple of years.

As such I had to pay to take my family elsewhere instead of them swimming which they wanted to do.

This hotel knowingly advertise a swimming pool yet do not provide it.

The person on reception outright lied to me saying he'd send for an engineer knowing he wouldn't and would use the excuse I'd be gone before they could fix it.

Shocking customer service.

.... the positive list the area direct in front o the beach and friendly staff.
BUT the hotel got older and more heavy used. The aircon is extremely loud and the bathroom (also the room)quite dirty. The beds are hard like a wooden flatbed...
It's not my recommendation any more, because of dirty beach and heavy used rooms ...

We arrived 27 May 2022 about 15:10 o’clock, the person behind reception counter was talking in phone and not even look at us. We waited but the person just ignored us and kept talking in phone. After 10-15 minutes I booked another hotel . Don’t go to this place. They don’t want customers

This is not the Oriental Mandarin or a five star Novotel, so I don't understand the complaints from many of the reviewers. The universal rule of 'you get what you pay for' applies here as well as everywhere else. I stayed there for almost three months, and I have no complaints about the staff or the property.

If Koh Samet is all booked, this is a nice quiet place to stay. About a 15 minute drive from where the Bangkok bus lets you off, there isn't a lot here, but the beach is quiet and nice. I didn't see any garbage, there were stray dogs but they never bothered us. The hotel rooms are actually very nice, with a good balcony and lots of space. Staff were helpful and price was reasonable. They also offer a hotel shuttle back to the town where you get the bus to Bangkok (200 baht) - email ahead to see if they'll pick you up, we payed 400 baht for a taxi to take us there when we arrived.

Room Tip: I think you pay extra for the water view, but it's nice since you have a balcony.

Greeted at check in by 2 elderly staff who never give you an eye contact, nor provide any information about breakfast or swimming pool. During stay is the same, when you ask for something the staff response was " You will have to wait". Upon check out one of the staff had argument with previous guest about missing glass in the room and charged her for it. Then when we check out she accused us of stealing one hanger where we never open the closet once. The tone of voice was horrible, we will never come back here and wont recommend this place to anyone. Room was spacious but very old and really need renovation.

Really disappointed with this hotel. Don’t make the mistake and stay here. The beach opposite the hotel is covered in trash anything from car tires to shoes. The sheets had holes in them. The bathrooms are very dated. My breakfast had a big hair in it which they did replace with a new breakfast. The pool was green. Once we arrived we tried to book other accomodation we were grateful we only had to stay one night.
