This is a cool, high-end hotel with a modern (for rural Colombia) feel, great service, and a wonderful setting near Parque Arvi. Super for couples and a distant second for families. Don't miss a paddle around the lake and the fantastic view from your hotel room window.

To start with, we took the metro-cable over the mountainside to Park Avi, then grabbed a Chiva shuttle to the hotel, all in all took about an hour and half from Medellin. Hotel modern and comfortable, services friendly and attentive, the meals were excellent ( not gourmet ) but representative of local cuisine.

In the morning we walked to the butterfly museum and then took a private rowboat ( all included ) in a setting that was tranquillity defined.

Great for couples or family outings!

I plan to come back and FYI: one night and day is enough but two nights there would be great as well. For the price especially it is a genuine Colombian experience that many locals visit.

The Comfenalco Hotel at Piedras blancas (white stones) lagoon - Arvi park is a nice, modern hotel built to the standards of american or euro hotels, it offers the basic ammenities you´d expect and keep in mind, the main attractions are the view, the lake and the nature. You can walk to the butterfly dome, about 10 minutes to view the whole evolution from egg to butterfly, take a paddle boat or the insect museum, a small museum made out of local species. One of the best things is the silence and the climate, it´s average 60-70 make it nice to enjoy all year round, the silence is really profound at night, remember, you are in the middle of a forest. The rooms and bathrooms are really clean, there are a spa-jacuzzi-turk bath on the first floor, and it´s a small hotel, not too many rooms. Now for the not so good, the restaurant has a nice ambiance but the service is underpar, lack of training for staff, if you order, make sure to insist on the term for your meat, food quality in general is ok, not bad but not in line with the building. Prices are kind of high for the average in the area.About US$200 for a night for 2 people, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, remember, in Colombia you pay per person, make sure to communicate it when making a reservation.

This is a magnificent hotel in the middle of the nature reserve Arví, it is only an hour from Medellin, you can get there through the cable car or take a bus in the center of Medellin. The hotel has wetlands, insect museum, lake and a butterfly zoo. The weather is cold. All rooms have views of the lake and the beautiful mountains of Antioquia. Super recommended.

I went with my mom, we were celebrating her birthday, the room was nice, it had a lovely view to the dam and in general the room was comfortable, the bathroom could use a remodeling. The service was nice, specially at the restaurant.
The hotel is located in a natural park so you can go to ecological trail and have a nice walk, also you can visit the butterfly enclosure and the insects museum and even row on the dam.
Remember that the hotel is far from the city and in the mountains so all your activities will be either in the hotel or in the Rionegro area.

Unfortunately, we arrived late and had to leave after breakfast so were not able to enjoy the surroundings and facilities. Check in took a very long time but staff friendly. Room was modern and large, with two double beds and great view over the lake. There was a special Italian Fiesta that evening so music went on until after midnight. We ordered room service dinner which was very good. Breakfast was okay, not a lot of choice of hot food for vegetarians. Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting. We liked.

You have to visit here. The butterfly centre is spectacular. They have over 20 different species, and release them into the park for conservation of the species. The colours are amazing.
There is a restaurant nearby as well as a lake.

We went to celebrate my father in laws birthday and had a great time. Rooms were very spacious, amazing views over the lake, very clean, comfortable. I'm a very fussy eater and not a big fan of Colombian food but was able to clear my plate. Good value as well, worked out about 50 GBP a night. Explored the grounds in the morning and found a zip line, awesome. Hotel could only be improved with a pool!

This place is located 45 minutes from Medellín. If you want you can enjoy the surroundings only or you can book a room and stay more time. The hotel offers a butterfly sightseeing, entomological museum, a big lake with boats you can use, trails and the opportunity to stay away form the city for a while. The hotel accomodation is also very good, the rooms are huge, the beds are comfy and all of them has a beatiful view to the lake. The food is delicious and the service makes you feel at home.
