This is a magnificent hotel in the middle of the nature reserve Arví, it is only an hour from Medellin, you can get there through the cable car or take a bus in the center of Medellin. The hotel has wetlands, insect museum, lake and a butterfly zoo. The weather is cold. All rooms have views of the lake and the beautiful mountains of Antioquia. Super recommended.
I went with my mom, we were celebrating her birthday, the room was nice, it had a lovely view to the dam and in general the room was comfortable, the bathroom could use a remodeling. The service was nice, specially at the restaurant. The hotel is located in a natural park so you can go to ecological trail and have a nice walk, also you can visit the butterfly enclosure and the insects museum and even row on the dam. Remember that the hotel is far from the city and in the mountains so all your activities will be either in the hotel or in the Rionegro area.
This is a cool, high-end hotel with a modern (for rural Colombia) feel, great service, and a wonderful setting near Parque Arvi. Super for couples and a distant second for families. Don't miss a paddle around the lake and the fantastic view from your hotel room window.
Unfortunately, we arrived late and had to leave after breakfast so were not able to enjoy the surroundings and facilities. Check in took a very long time but staff friendly. Room was modern and large, with two double beds and great view over the lake. There was a special Italian Fiesta that evening so music went on until after midnight. We ordered room service dinner which was very good. Breakfast was okay, not a lot of choice of hot food for vegetarians. Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting. We liked.
To start with, we took the metro-cable over the mountainside to Park Avi, then grabbed a Chiva shuttle to the hotel, all in all took about an hour and half from Medellin. Hotel modern and comfortable, services friendly and attentive, the meals were excellent ( not gourmet ) but representative of local cuisine. In the morning we walked to the butterfly museum and then took a private rowboat ( all included ) in a setting that was tranquillity defined. Great for couples or family outings! I plan to come back and FYI: one night and day is enough but two nights there would be great as well. For the price especially it is a genuine Colombian experience that many locals visit.
