Domes Lake Algarve, Autograph Collection, is celebrated for its spacious rooms adorned with special touches that create a festive atmosphere. The hotel's location is a hit among guests, offering proximity to local hotspots while maintaining a serene retreat. While the hotel's cleanliness and extensive amenities, including pools and breakfast, receive high marks, there's a mention of potential improvements in family-friendly offerings.
Although service is generally noted as professional and attentive, there are occasional remarks about inconsistencies. While the food quality is praised, some guests feel certain services could offer better value.

This hotel certainly does have the wow factor!
it is beautiful both inside and out with lovely rooms and grounds. Spotlessly clean and all the staff are fantastic.
We stayed for a week on a B&B basis staying in a garden view room on the second floor, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice both hot or cold.
Our room was huge, the toilet is sepatate to the main bathroom which has a walk in shower and bath. A large comfortable bed with the best pillows I think I've ever experienced! There was plenty of cupboard and storage space and with the room being so big it never felt cramped or cluttered.
There was a plate of fruit waiting for us on arrival, which we thought was a lovely touch, and bottled water was provided everyday. There is a mini bar/fridge with beers/spirits/chocolates etc however we didn't't use them as we felt they were expensive. A Nesspresso coffee machine and kettle are provided with plenty of coffee pods and teas bags which are replenished daily, as we prefer milk to the little cream/milk pods we bought a bottle of milk from a supermarket and kept it in the fridge. There was a turndown service each night with chocolates left on our bed.
The hotel has 5 pools, one being a manmade beach with zero entry. Unfortunately with it being February they were far too cold for more than a paddle although it was warm enough to sunbathe. Towels are provided daily near to the pool bar.
We used the spa facility on a number of occasions which is lovely and relaxing and included as part of your stay, there is an indoor pool with many jets to ease away any aches and pains, as well as a dead sea salt bath, jacuzzi, steam room sauna. Again towels are provided as well as day beds to relax on and herbal teas and water available free of charge. Treatments are available at an extra cost however we didn't try any of them.
We used both of the bars within the hotel which are lovely with fantastic service however are on the expensive side for example €8 for a glass of wine, although in fairness this is in keeping with many of the bars and restaurants around the marina and it must be remembered that it is a 5 star hotel.
The hotel is in a great location a 5 minute walk gets you to the expansive sandy beach where you can walk for miles and around 10 minutes to the marina area.
All in all a fabulous hotel that we would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again the future.

I’ve never seen so much wardrobe & drawer space in a room which was fantastic. By why only 10 hangers?
There was a lack of plugs. The main plug that you would use to dry your hair would not hold an adaptor and kept falling out. We had to unplug a couple of lamps & the phone to charge our phones/watches. Any room upgrades should include a set of USB chargers.
The pool towels should be booked out to rooms because there is no incentive to take the used towels back. This means that sunbeds are left with used towels on them when people have finished using them.
All the staff were so friendly.
The breakfast was fantastic. I’ve never had avocado for breakfast before. Delicious.
The food in the Blue Lagoon pool side bar was lovely, but 15 euros for a pina colada was a bit expensive. They were only 8 euros in the marina.
It was exactly a 5 minute walk to the marina walking across the car park.
The location on the lake was beautiful.
This is our 3rd time this year in Vilamoura and we made return visits to our favourite restaurants E.g, Rare steakhouse, News & Mayflower.
We had a lovely Thai meal at the Thai Beach club. Turn right as you come out of the side gate. I imagine you have to book but we got lucky one lunchtime. It was very busy but the food was lively and the service & staff extremely efficient.
There is absolutely no chance of getting a cabana unless you get up at the crack of dawn. Not sure exactly what time people claimed them but by 9:45am each day they all had towels on them - not many bodies on them though. I’d be interested to know how much use these people actually got from them. There was always loads of available sunbeds though. They probably should have a pre booking service for the cabanas as they all have numbers on them.
We had our evening meal at Fusion one night due to awful weather. I ordered the Seabass which was so salty that it was awful. The restaurant is very pretentious, I would not want to return.

All round Lake Resort in Vilamoura is a great choice for a resort stay in central eastern Algarve. Modern and well equipped (though I think the resort will be updated and renovated in Winter 2021/2022). The layout of the resort is slightly unusual. We had a nice second floor room with balcony looking left to the marina, straight in front the pool and lagoon right to the sea and beach in the far distance
Room very well soundproofed and despite location in front of the lagoon beach it was never noisy. Breakfast excellent and we ate 4-5 times at restaurants on site which were perfectly good including Mare Nostrum which is located on the lake
Guest services staff were very helpful with tourism (we visited a local Quinta vineyard) and also some great restaurant recommendations in Quinta do Lago
From the Lake Resort it’s a short walk to Vilamoura Marina and also to Falesia Beach on the open ocean
We travelled all along the Algarve east to west (about 170km) from Vilamoura and drove to and from Lisbon in about 3 hours
We booked Covid tests at the hotel for our return trip which was helpful
The bar area was vaguely disappointing for such a high quality establishment - nothing wrong with it, just a bit bland and non-descript
Staff were very good and maybe only one of few negatives would be very high price (overpriced) but we went during ultimate high season so maybe that’s the price.
The Lake Resort deserves 5 stars for service, location, quality and all round good place to stay

This was our first overseas trip since the end of lockdown and my wife was very apprehensive and unsure about the holiday.
We had seen The Lakes resort when visiting Vilamoura before and always fancied staying there.
It did not disappoint in any way at all.
The minute we arrived we were greeted by a porter who made us feel warmly welcome within 30 seconds. He assisted us with our bags and found our conservative hire car a parking place straight outside the hotel, something that many hotels may reserve for more expensive vehicles.
We checked in and was assured to see that our vaccination certificates were checked to try and make the hotel as covid secure as possible.
The check in staff were all smiling and checked us in earlier than stated.
Our room was clean and very well decorated and appointed with a sea view and balcony.
The room was cleaned every day with copious clean towels and other small but unexpected little touches.
The breakfasts were magnificent with food to suit all and good quality. Nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff and every request was greeted with a smile and a yes.
There are 2 restaurants at the hotel and the food was well prepared and good quality. My wife was taken ill on one occasion soon after ordering but our meals were brought to our room with a smile once again.
The little things make this hotel and as previous reviews have said the staff are wonderful.
A lovely holiday was had as a result.

We have just checked out after spending a fantastic 4 days at the hotel. What can I say it was amazing from start to finish. The staff are fantastic and always smiling and willing to help, they were really lovely with my daughter. The hotel facilities are excellent. Having stayed at other 5 star hotels around the world this definitely is worth its 5 star rating. We had breakfast included in our room rate and the choice was excellent. I especially loved having Buck’s Fizz each morning. We ate lunch in the bar area on the first day and it was very good. The whole hotel was spotless and the outdoor pool area especially the pool with the beach was lovely. The hotel supply beach towels and towels are also provided at the spa. The spa allow children in until 1pm and we used it each morning during our stay. There is a great pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and heated salt pool. There is a walk around the lake and my 6 year old daughter loved looking at the fish. There is a little play park which she also enjoyed. The hotel is just a short walk from the marina and beach. The bus stop for the tourist train can be reached by going through the gate at the back of the hotel. The rooms were well decorated and spacious. We loved this hotel and can’t wait to return.

Got a really good deal to stay here with Golf Direct. 4 nights plus 3 rounds of golf. Hotel was really nice from what we seen. Didn't walk round the full grounds or outdoor pools or that as not hot enough weather wise.
The rooms are your typical business hotel rooms, however I would say the TVs had one of the most comprehensive list of TV channels I have seen on holiday so plus points there.
There are a few reasons for only giving 3/5. The prices here for food and drink are very expensive. An example of this, a single can of redbull costs €5. The minibar was also very expensive.
The food I did have here was the buffet breakfast one morning. It had a really weird after taste of smoke, so couldn't manage more than a couple of bites. Not sure what caused this but didn't return for another breakfast because of this.
The spa facilities are good, however quite run down and none of the features of the indoor pool worked.
The rules also did not seem to be inforced here. One of the rules were no children in spa, however every morning whilst trying to relax, this was spiked by various kids cannonballing into pool.
All in all, I would probably go back and would recommend the hotel to golfers.

Our stay began by being welcomed by Rita, an excellent customer service person. She dedicated a lot of time to us and was charming and professional in equal measure. We had a 5 night stay. Night one we benefitted from a turndown service, but that was it. Very inconsistent for a 5 star resort. The breakfast buffet was excellent, though we had to play Russian roulette with the salt and pepper cellars every morning. We somehow managed to get either two salts or two peppers. When we reached over to a nearby table to redress the balance, we frequently found two more of the same. This may sound petty but expectations are going to be high when selling at 400€ per night B & B. The outside facilities and location are outstanding, quite exquisite in fact. In general, the hotel staff were immaculately groomed and charming. Their Portuguese hospitality shone through constantly. My biggest criticism was the bathroom. So very badly designed. I had to walk in and out sideways. It was ridiculously narrow. Whoever thought you could fit a bath and a shower in there must have been on a Slimfast diet for a year. The problem could be “easily” solved by removing either the bath or the shower. As things are, the bathroom (we had room 333) is almost a reason to reconsider the 5 star status. would this prevent us from returning? No, we want to return. We were not blown away by the half board option, so next time we would choose B & B and wander down to the marina in the evenings. The entertainment and choice of wonderful restaurants there is staggering.

Great experience from the moment we arrived.
It had been three years since we stayed in the Lake Resort having been regular customers from the early noughties when the hotel was built.
On day one at breakfast we were greeted by two members of staff who recognised us from before and who welcomed us back, making us feel like very special returning guests.
Now under the ownership of Domes- a Greek luxury hotel chain there is certainly a higher emphasis on great customer relations. This could not be better demonstrated by the Customer relations manager Joanne who spoke to us every day enquiring how our holiday was going and again having recognised us from previous visits.
Our room was spotless and we utilised a mixture of towel change and having our room serviced on a couple of occasions being mindful of the recent pandemic.
On our last two evenings, we ate in Topos which is the Fusion restaurant rebranded into a Greek/Portuguese cuisine, the food was top quality complimented with great service and an excellent wine list.
To sum up, already looking at dates in October!

When you walk into this hotel you feel an aura of calm. All employees seem to have a personalality that makes you feel welcome and an attitude that allows you to ask them anything and it won't be a problem. This creates a very respectful relationship and allows natural dialogue as this workforce appear happy. If they can help, they will and with that, go above and beyond.
The interior is stylish and I can imagine, having stayed at The Domes Corfu, what the refurbishment of the rooms will be like after completion over the winter months. The rooms had everything to make the stay easy, homely and enjoyable. A welcome assiette of desserts amongst other treats including a birthday cake made me feel very special and allowed us to indulge whilst listening to the evening singing entertainment from our balcony. The rooms were immaculately clean in every area. This is more apparent when trying to locate bits of toys on your hands and knees when you have a child. Attention to detail is exceptional and distinguishs this hotel from other hotel groups.
The pool areas are immaculate and the employees very attentive but not intrusive. Most people moved their towels if they were leaving for more than an hour and it wasn't a problem getting a sunbed. The cushions are a nice touch! The beach pool was an added surprise and another little 'quirk' of this hotel.
The food in all restaurants is excellent. The al a carte was exceptional and the bbq evening in the main restaurant with the shrimps was a highlight. Breakfast is relaxed and the omelette station is delicious.
Thank you to Amy and her team at the children's club. It was lovely to meet you all and Martha had the most wonderful time. She was safe, well cared for and was desperate to go to her activities. We tried several times to persuade her to stay with us but she loved it so much and for that we are greatful!
The gym is well equipped but if you get chance to take part in the yoga this was a highlight for me. A 1:1 session due to a change in itinerary and a very kind instructor meant that I had an outdoor yoga/relaxation session in the evening that was of an unbelievable standard.
Thank you to Domes Lake for making our short visit so memorable. Continue with the ethos and staff moral that you seem to have as it's a winning formula.
If you have any questions, we explored every bit of this place so just ask away as we are happy to help.
The Ford Family.

Thank you to Domes Lake for making our short visit so memorable. Continue with the ethos and staff moral that you seem to have as it's a winning formula.
If you have any questions, we explored every bit of this place so just ask away as we are happy to help.

This hotel is beautiful, the staff are all amazing and can’t do enough for you, a big shout out, especially to the pool staff who constantly look for sunbeds for you when there are none available they will remove towels that haven’t been occupied for sometime.
The hotel grounds are just stunning. We often walked through them as it was so peaceful , our favourite pool out of the three was the beach pool which is massive and it’s just lovely to swim around or just sit there on the side.
The bedrooms are lovely and spacious with a huge bed, beautiful linen, fluffy towels , it was great to have a bath tub and a walk in shower.
We only stayed on the bed and breakfast basis , The buffet breakfast is what you would expect from a five star hotel with plenty of choice and fresh produce.
We ate at topos restaurant twice as the food is stunning, the service is superb and the surroundings specially with the singers can’t be beaten.
Now, for the not so good points, and I’m only saying them on here because I didn’t get a chance to give feedback when I checked out.
The pool rules clearly state on the notice “no inflatables” however this was not managed, pool staff were even inflating them for the children, I understand small baby’s need a small rubber ring, but there was an actual small boat in there and masses of other inflatables very annoying .
The hotel has a lot of wildlife (birds) we were Lucky enough to have one of the larger balconies on the top floor, however, this was prone to a lot of bird droppings landing on our balcony. The walls either side were caked in bird faeces and so was our sunbed. I did mention this to the customer relation lady but nothing was done. I cleaned the balcony railings as I like to lean on it in the evenings, I think the management need to instruct the cleaners to clean these balconies each day for health and safety reasons specially if you have young children.
Breakfast as I said, was very good. However the hot food was never hot, lukewarm at best, very disappointing. I think management need to invest in better food heaters . Also there was never a teaspoon with your cutlery pack. I constantly has asked for this, bizarre, how are you supposed to stir your tea and coffee? These small negatives wouldn’t usually bother me, but when you are paying nearly £400 a night, I expect better.
But overall, we had a fantastic, relaxing and chilled time at this hotel we enjoyed taking the bikes out and cycling along the promenade and also the kayaking on the lake, we will definitely return.
