Hotel's Favourite
Recently stayed here for 1 night with my mum for a very very late birthday night away. Beautiful weather while we were there so it truly showed the hotel in its glory! We had a top floor main building room at the front which gave us spectacular views. Room was lovely clean, tidy, comfortable beds and big bathroom. We had 2 slots for the pool too which was nice and quiet and sauna/steam room were open finally! The short 45 minute slots arent ideal but we are still coming out of a pandemic so i know this is procedure. Dinner at night was lovely abeit small portions and pricey if we didnt have a DBB deal. It is a Nick Nairn restaurant so expected it to be expensive. Breakfast was fabulous in morning and buffet was fully open and managed well. Also loved the outdoor dining section at the front of the hotel which was the perfect setting for a cold drink. Plenty of parking also. All staff extremely friendly, helpful and would return and recommend to friends and family. 5 stars Dunblane Hydro i hope this is a fresh start for all after a horrific year especially in hospitality. We will be back!

With Nick Nairn's name attached to the restaurant I was expecting something special if not spectacular. What I got was mediocre and very disappointing. Perhaps I should have been wary when I viewed the menu and saw chicken supreme and burger as two of the choices. I did think though that the presentation would be somewhere like fine dining rather than pub grub. The so-called peppercorn sauce that accompanied the steak was insipid in taste, perhaps the chef would like my recipe? I could have saved myself a lot of money just going to my local pub restaurant for dinner. Breakfast wasn't any better with overcooked sausages, overcooked bacon and overcooked potato scone. (thank goodness I didn't order the haggis or black pudding) The scrambled eggs tasted and resembled reconstituted dried eggs. There was no choice of poached eggs or eggs Benedict. The one thing I look forward to when going away anywhere is the food. I want it to be better than I cook at home and presented with style. Nick Nairn should have a look at what is going on in his name, I think he would or should be ashamed.

I stayed here on Wednesday 21st of July in room 414. This was a suite on the forth floor. The is large and fairly comfortable. However as a superior suite it lacks amentites that you would expect such as fridge or any air conditioning. The room needed a good clean.

When approaching the Hydro along the beautiful driveway we thought that this hotel would give us an unforgettable experience, a stay which will be a lasting memory. Upon arrival at reception to check-in, the welcome was as we would expect from a hotel of high standards and were excited to get up to our room to prepare for the evening ahead. On entering our room the first thing we saw was a black office swivel chair of some age filling the space between the bed end and the desk, only one chair for two persons, our thoughts were that this was a single room, the luggage holder beside the window would not allow us access to the left side of the bed so it could not be used for luggage. When using the toilet the two toilet roll holders were jammed against my right shin and knee, hardly fitted for a customers comfort and access to the shower was tight. There was a generator outside our bedroom window which was switched off at 23.00 on one night but not until 02.00 on the next, because of the hot climate we did not shut the window but instead we persevered with the noise. Dinner and breakfast with our friends was excellent on both nights and mornings, we found the service staff to be very professional without exception. Sadly room 326 was the biggest letdown, would we go back? Yes we would, but a conversation would need to be had about which bedroom we had been allocated.

Dear Frank Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to write your review of your recent stay at our hotel. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment with the room that was allocated to you. Due to the age of the building, no two rooms are the same and do all differ in shape and size. I am sorry you felt the room was too small for you, should you stay with us again, please do not hesitate to request a larger room when you make your reservation and we will do our utmost to ensure your request is met. Despite this, I am delighted the team looked after you well and I will take great pleasure in sharing your kind comments with them. Thank you once again for your feedback and I hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon. Regards Stuart Cran
