I stayed a night here so as not to drive on icy roads at night into the mountains without winter tyres on the car. It was €8 more than I was expecting to pay based on all the hotel comparison sites. The room was cold and it took two visits to the receptionist to get the heater on and to explain to me how it worked until finally on the third visit I got the receptionist to come back to the room to get it heating. The room security was not at all good, their locks need to be made more secure. Otherwise the bathroom was good and the shower worked well.

Firstly the staff were excellent, very helpful. The room was small, not much bigger than the bed. The only food available in the evening were pre-prepared meals which were microwaved which were not particularly appetizing. We arrived for breakfast at about 9 am to find that there was no bread or croissants left. Some sliced bread was provided. I appreciate this is a budget hotel but at 82 euros a night I expect better.

On the plus side the rooms are bright, modern and very clean and well maintained. The accommodation is good value for money coming in around GBP 44. The breakfast has enough options to set you up for the day for the price of Euro 7.50. On the down side, the rooms are small and the beds are hard. It is located next to the road (although the sound proofing is reasonably effective). Get a room on the quieter side facing the grill restaurant if possible. The much vaunted free WiFi is a bit patchy. The staff are friendly and amenable. If you are looking for a handy pit stop this would be a good option.

They charged an extra night after paying in cash because they take credit card info to hold a reservation. I did not give them permission to charge my card. Immediately after I saw they charge (they charged after we left the hotel) they said they would refund the charge and to check my credit card the next month. This was a stalling-tactic. They did not refund the amount and now they are questioning that we paid in cash. Because I paid the second night in front of the boss there, I believe this is an intentional tactic to scam people out of cash payments. Do not go there if you do not want to be scammed. It is also very loud with windows directly onto the motorway.

Exceptionally poor service attitude, such that if anything goes wrong, they are impossible to deal with. Well in advance of our booking with them we requested a 1 day deferral of the reservation (due to an air traffic controllers strike), and even though it was low season with many rooms available, they refused outright. (All other hotels we had bookings with accommodated our request with pleasure.) What was worse than their inflexibility, was the attitude of the staff who absolutely refused to discuss it with us or explain the policy. Subsequently we read the reviews below in French and see that poor attitude from management is a recurring theme, and the management don't deserve to be in the service industry. We highly recommend you don't stay here, as even if the price looks fair, you never know when you will have an issue that requires a discussion with a reasonable person, and that is something you won't find at Balladins Foix.

The good. Location, ease of access from A66/N20, price. The poor. Very hard beds, poor breakfast choice. It's a basic hotel, convenient stop off point between Channel ports and Andorra and eastern Spain/Catalonia.

We had low expectations from this hotel as it was booked on a budget... But we were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were immaculate, sound proofed from the nearby main road, with lovely en suites. The aircon was magnificent after a hot day's travel and the wifi was reliable. The staff were very helpful and the buffet breakfast was good value too.

Good value hotel on outskirts of Foix. Hotel staff all very friendly and helpful. Room on arrival very clean and comfortable with ample parking available. We stayed for two nights and the room was not cleaned after the first day, though the receptionist was very apologetic and immediately provided new towels, etc. - so despite this would happily stay again.

A great hotel with fantastic staff and a breakfast with locally sourced produce. It is well located with immaculate rooms and free wi-fi. Overall, this is a great choice for a couple of night's stay as it's located on the road to Foix.

Clean, inexpensive, and modern small hotel. Good value for the money. Very quiet location. Good security.

Rooms are very small - no problem for a night stop, but not the kind of place you would want to stay in more than just overnight.

Wi-Fi is fast once you are connected, but it is a Royal PITA to get connected... the security system is way overdone for a hotel, and if you log on with more than one device, the other devices get cut off.

Breakfast was unimpressive. The front desk is not attended beyond 10:00 PM.
