Can only award an average rating. What is most annoying in this type of hotel are the car park charges levied after any booking. Like buying a seat on a budget airline. Be aware of this. Also be aware of the fourth floor. If assigned a room CHECK the noise levels before settling in. The overhead pipe/circulation system was very noisy in 4 rooms offered. Rooms are comfortable, but nothing a Travelodge doesn't offer. (No SKY TV, only Freeview.) Though bar and cafe onsite were COVID closed. Unfortunate the hotel is close to a building site, which makes site a bit tough to find off the A34. Have to use the back road, which is the hotel address for sat nav. Staff encountered were good, especially person re room changes. Good effort there.
We used this hotel after the first COVID lockdown. The hotel was very well prepared and organised, we felt safe during our stay, the staff were very good. Meeting facilities were good, and there was ample space we used for dinner and breakfast. Rooms were excellent, will use again.
Check in we were welcomed and remembered lovely to be asked how we both were. Easy, helpful Receptionist (Rachel). Fault with TV remote, fixed within minutes. Friendly welcome smile even at early check out.
The staff were lovely at the Village Hotel Solihull and were very accommodating when our first room was dusty with mud on the carpet and a brown stain on the toilet seat. The rooms are cosy and well decorated with poor wifi. The restaurant itself is alright but there is one member of staff who was rude, obnoxious and an embarrassment to the Village name.
Communication was poor. Turned away from the bar as all tables were reserved had to make out way to Shirley in a taxi in the rain. Staff seem terrified of complaints from members although seeing the moaning old buzzards in the changing rooms I can see why.
