Friendly and helpful checkin, all staff were very pleasant and chatty whenever we saw them.

Issues with internet payment/login had to call internet company directly who connected us for free; however could not connect WiFi to the tv for Netflix, was told by reception the tv is not a smart tv, however remote has buttons for Netflix/ Prime and we were able to connect by mobile hotspot- to prove tv IS a smart one - however too expensive to use mobile data. Can’t understand why or how the tv was blocked and would not have attempted to buy internet if we had known this.

There is an hdmi cable in the lounge area for a dvd player however there was not actually a dvd player, if we had known this we would have brought our own for the evenings as there is no nearby evening activities. If we had brought children with us it would have been difficult to keep them entertained in down time etc; especially as the park is so far from anywhere, which was not made clear on the website.

It was extremely quiet and peaceful on site due to the location, however after a long 4 hour journey we found that the advertised site shop was tiny with hardly any supplies beyond milk, pizza, chips and noodles. Could not buy anything to make a decent meal and the advertised on site restaurant and local Bistro located 2 miles away are not pet friendly, and having paid to bring our two dogs we did not want to leave them in the caravan particularly as the prices for replacing anything broken are astronomical! There is no supermarket anywhere nearby and we had to travel to Carlisle the day after our arrival for more substantial supplies. These things should definitely be made clear on the site website.

Mattress in double bedroom extremely uncomfortable, no fitted sheet so flat sheet would not stay in one place during the night due to wipe down mattress. Pillows extremely thin, there were only two of us and we had to use all 6 available pillows to be comfortable.

Kitchen was only partially clean on arrival and oven and hob were filthy. Oven very slow to warm up and seemed to take twice as long to cook anything as it should.
Generally the kitchen is well equipped however the knives were all cheap serrated ones which weren’t fit for purpose.

Bathrooms clean and the shower is better than the one at home!

An excellent place to go if you are looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful away from the rat race and are prepared to travel to see heritage sites etc. In the right place if you are looking for some down time after completing Hadrian’s wall!

Having dogs and also spending the days walking, it would be helpful for there to be a sweeping brush/ mop and handheld vacuum cleaner in order to ensure the caravan stays clean and tidy.

The grounds were clean, tidy and well looked after; and again I cannot emphasise the peacefulness!

If we were to book again with Park holidays we would likely choose somewhere a little closer to local amenities and would definitely be better prepared!

Lovely reception staff, go straight to the brown building that says reception to check in as you drive in not the grey building as the email says as you get to the bar in the grey building and no one is at the pop up reception. The staff on all the park were nice, the shop cost us £4.50 for 3 branded chocolate bars, walkers a single pack and two single none branded crisps not bad. Didn't use the bar as they don't allow dogs, there was entertainment on the Saturday a Halloween party for children and a Mowtown and Soul night after. The bar has a covered area you can sit outside with dogs, but it was too cold to sit outside for us, outdoor stand up heaters would have been good, there is a lovely view of the lake. There is also a beer garden next to the children's play area and entrance to the bar.

We didn't use any other facilities, the is a nice dog walk to Glasson Moss about 30/40 walk, it's a nature reserve. There is a tower you can walk up to see the view of the nature reserve. I've taken pictures of the info pack for all to see what the place has to offer.

No fault of the park but a local pub would have been nice you can take dogs into and walking distance of 30 mins round trip would have been nice.

Remember all the essential loo roll, we didn't have any left in the caravan but brought one. Bin bags, tea towel, cloths, washing up liquid and kitchen roll. Comfy beds, we had a double and 2 singles and a double sofa bed, we originally booked for our teens to come.

The caravan was well equipped in the kitchen, comfy sofa and clean with it being dog friendly.

There is mini golf, two play areas and a tennis a ball court.

Glendale holiday park is a great place if you want to relax. So quiet and peaceful, with many walks around if you want to explore and great if you have pets.
Overall, we had a great stay and will be returning.
One thing I will say is, the cleanliness of the caravan could’ve been slightly better, all the dishes were still slightly dirty (not really a problem as such as would always wash before use anyways but not very nice) and there was previous guests socks still lying around.
There was a dustpan under the sink but no brush.
The leisure suite was great, it has a pool, hot tub and sauna which we went to both mornings, and was very clean. Siobhan was lovely, told us to help ourself to coffees etc in the laundrette next door and always took the time to speak to us and gave us suggestions of walks nearby to take our dog.
The pub is expensive in my opinion, £9.50 for 2 VK’s took me by surprise, so next time we will opt to take our own to the caravan.
We will be back!

Me, my mother and my grandmother decided to get out of town and go to a caravan park. We had seen the better reviews and the nice photos and thought it would be fun. After driving 4 and a half hours, We were wrong. When we got in it was dirty and the beds weren’t made how we had simply asked. There was a curtain pole missing with the curtain on the sofa. There was no bowls, no spoons, no cutting knifes, and even though it says on the website about a dvd player we were told none of them have dvd players and we should’ve read the small print.

They had phoned my mother saying how the leisure had been temporarily closed. If you look further down on the reviews they have been closed since November 2023. (Yes we should have checked)

We had decided to go to the restaurant. Bad idea, one person serving the bar and food while trying to clean which he did not get around to, such a nice guy though. The resident on site by the name of lez can be a bit much to handle as he can get aggressive and will not leave when told unless you say to his face. (as I did thankfully)

The manager was happily sitting eating her food on our last night there as the bar was still busy and the guy who had been previously rushed off his feet was still like this while other employees were happily eating food and drinking.

During the multiple times we went back to the reception to say about our caravan there were many other people going through similar situations. such as, dirt, and missing objects. The excuses that were given which were many including they have ‘new cleaners’.

FYI if you have anyone that has low mobility I would advise booking a disabled caravan with more space rather than the gold plus as there is no room for movement within the bedrooms.

Overall terrible experience, nice views and caravans are pretty and modern but other than that it was horrid, and we will never be going back and would never recommend it to anyone.

This is such a shame as this place could be great.

Glendale

Glendale

Upon entering Glendale holiday park which we had booked well in advance, my family and friends and I expected a nice relaxing break, I can assure you that was off to a terrible start. These pictures are only a snippet of what we perceive as being a disgusting impression on where we would be staying for the next 4 days. Immediately we informed a member of the reception that the caravan was unsuitable and in a terrible state with other peoples dirt and leftover food mashed everywhere.

The food leftover was an instant early sign that this caravan was not maintained and cleaned upon our arrival. As mentioned in the first photo we did inform a member of the reception instantly about the food mashed into carpets, the oven and the sofas! So we were informed that there was no one here to clean up our caravan and we were just given fresh sheets to change for the first night due to them also being very dirty with bugs amongst.

The morning after arriving we were greeted by a younger woman member of staff who seemed to be confused about how the caravan was dirty, so we just decided to use the equipment that she had brought in ourselves, to be honest this was easier for us because we would’ve had to move all of our belongings out as quite simply, the whole caravan was simply not cleaned before we arrived. I feel that even though it was easier for us to do it ourselves we shouldn’t have to be doing it before feeling comfortable to even sit down anywhere.

Now as you can see by my profile I haven’t ever done one of these reviews because I’ve never experienced something this low, this service was atrocious, no communication and expected to be happy to live, sleep and eat in someone else’s mess is unacceptable.

My partner booked this trip as a last minute idea for bank holiday weekend, myself, partner and four year old was excited as we checked the photos and the facilities they had on offer and all seemed amazing… however after traveling for 3hrs to get there and arriving just after the 4 o’clock check in, we was told to wait another 10 mins for our keys (not a problem) after 10 mins we went back and was told by Sammi, someone else had them and they couldn’t contact ‘Charlie’ and we had to wait another 20 mins… so after 45mins still no keys. So the third attempt of the keys, we was told they was left in the caravan and the door is open, so we drives round find our plot and wouldn’t you have it caravan locked. STILL NO KEYS. so back to the reception for the 4th time to find out Sammi had them in the back all along (we’d be on site for an hour by this point and still not got in the van) so after the wild goose chase just to get the keys we finally get into the caravan to find its an absolute state and not been cleaned (see all photos) so back to the reception for the 5th time! where I then speak to Sammi myself, to find at least 5 other couples in there all with the same experience of disgusting caravans. I was then told there “having a dilemma and someone will be round shortly” however this just isn’t good enough my four year old is hungry as it’s now tea time, we’ve travelled for 3 hours and now most of my frozen food is defrosting and I’ve no where to store it because they don’t know how long it’s gonna be until someone goes and cleans it? She offers us a free meal in the pub and drinks, which we ordered but we ended up just letting my son eat because ours didn’t even come out in time as the kitchen only had one staff that just being the chef and the pub was rammed with other family’s clearly all getting a free meal too as they have had the same experience. Everywhere just understaffed
We was waiting for the van for a total of 2 hours. Was ridiculous- I’m glad we didn’t turn up for the 2 o’clock checking!! This bad start just spoiled the whole weekend. If we hadn’t traveled for 3 hours I would of just gone home. we’d just fell out with it straight away and according to some of the caravan owners who we got chatting to on site they said they been having problems like this for months, apparently only 1 cleaner on site to sort 50 caravans by himself. Will definitely never return nor would I recommend to anyone.

Booked online for same arrival day, tried to contact park to upgrade but no reply so once we arrived we got a free upgrade for the inconvenience, Sammi in reception went above and beyond to sort this for us. We ordered food from the restaurant while we waited on our caravan the food was delicious but took longer than should have due to kitchen problem.
The club house is decorated very nice and modern but sadly it’s never been cleaned, the carpets need hoovered, floors washed and windows cleaned. It’s under staffed, the next day the place still not cleaned, toilets have no toilet paper even though this was reported to the staff. Sad that this is my holiday and all I wanted to do was ask for a hoover and a mop to help them out.
The caravan was beautiful it was brand new but previous booking didn’t look after it they have ripped the voile curtain and sofa, I hope Parks charge them for this.

Glendale Holiday Park is in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, full of scenic walks and nearby to many fantastic local businesses. As a result of the park being taken over by the large holiday company Park Holidays UK, Glendale itself has decreased in popularity and custom noticeably. There is a lovely community feel to the site and it is perfect for couples wanting to escape reality and enjoy a peaceful, switched off holiday. But, for those with children or those wanting a holiday to remember, Glendale isn’t really the place to go. There is a severe lack of entertainment for both children and adults alike, only entertainment really being a vocal act on a Saturday night for adults. There is also karaoke hosted by the bar staff, which can be enjoyable but potentially repetitive for those who come frequently. Before the park was bought over, there was a children’s entertainer and it was guaranteed that there would be something on for at least 5 days of the week for them. As well as for adults, there would be bingo, quizzes and plenty of laughs to be had between customers, most of which who have now left the park. The food quality has also noticeably changed, with many unsatisfied customers with both the increased price and the result of their meals. This was also different before the takeover, where there would be over 100 Sunday carveries every week without fail, and many people in nearby villages and towns travelling to eat here. Like I mentioned before, the site is lovely and it is well maintained in most areas, but for families it would only be suitable for a weekend break if that, nothing more unfortunately. We hope to see the park change and become more inclusive for all customers.

We had a lovely stay on this attractive site.
Unfortunately we had a few problems.
We had booked a Platinum Lodge which was described as
having family bathroom with bath and an en-suite. Unfortunately the main shower room was also the en-suite and there was only a tiny second toilet.
There were a few other things missing too. The second bedroom was supposed to have full size single beds but the bedroom was tiny. To be honest the lodge wasn’t any bigger than the caravans we usually stay in and much, much smaller than any other lodge we have ever had. We were staying with our daughter and boyfriend who had come over from Australia and we were so disappointed not to have two showers and a have cramped bedroom. The double room wasn’t huge either to be honest.
We complained to a manager (pleasant guy with beard) and Sammi was sent to discuss the situation.
She was lovely and helpful and gave us another caravan for our guests to use. This suited us fine and stopped our holiday being spoilt.
We found all the staff to be very nice . Full marks for dealing with our complaint so effectively.
We can’t comment on the pool and gym etc as they were closed on the day we wanted to use them.
