The efficiency unit is very well equipped and located on a hill over looking Coffee Cove. Was lovely on the deck in the evening overlooking the water. Very quiet except for the birds!!! Just loved the solitude. Please be aware that the bedroom is on the upper level and the bathroom is on the main floor. A very good stay overall.

There is peaceful and then there is Coffee Cove. An amazing piece of heaven where you don't know the outside world exist, This charming house transports you back to 1890's and the night sky is spectacular. The host are very helpful and welcoming. If you are looking for a place to finish writing your novel this is where I would book. It is worth going out of your way to stay

We planned to stay here overnight as a waypoint between Bonavista and Deer Lake, but we were way ahead of schedule because one of our activities fell through. We arrived in Springdale at 2:30 pm and just wanted to keep driving. The lady let us cancel our reservation without charging us the standard $50 penalty, for which we are very grateful.

We booked this B & B to stay on our trip back towards St. John's in July of this year. I wish so much that we had more time to spend here. We stayed in the B & B and it was so beautiful. It was the entire upper floor of the house and contained a bedroom, bathroom, and sitting area and it's own balcony and entrance. Nola and Paul were kind, thoughtful and totally charming. There are lovely gardens and a great deck on the water. The views of the water and the mussel farm are gorgeous. (There is also a light house with accommodations and a separate cottage too.) Nola delivered breakfast to us in the morning and it was all homemade and delicious. What an amazingly relaxing place. It's a little off the beaten track but actually in a great location for exploring the area. I only wish we had known how lovely this place was before we only booked one night! We highly recommend Coffee Cove Seaside Retreat.

When planning our Newfoundland adventure, we wanted a place to stay to break up the drive west across the island to Gros Morne. Thanks to Trip Advisor, we discovered Coffee Cove Seaside Retreat, near Springdale. We were so pleased that we chose to stay in Coffee Cove, and we really loved Baker House. Happily we arrived in sunshine, and were able to enjoy our end-of-day drink and dinner sitting on the deck only a few feet from the ocean in this picture-perfect setting. Nola was very welcoming, but we actually saw her only on arrival, probably as she was busy with family guests. Baker House had been the home of the original (I think) fisherman and his wife, whose photos are on the walls. Although the cottage is small, Nola has ensured that it is comfortable and well-equipped. The main level includes a small living room overlooking the cove, and a reasonably large kitchen/eating area at the back. There is also a small bedroom on the main level, but we stayed in the much more spacious bedroom on the second floor, which is accessed by an amazingly steep and narrow stairway. The bathroom is on the main level, so anyone needing a middle-of-the-night visit should be very sober! Baker House has its own deck overlooking Nola's pretty garden and the beautiful cove. We would definitely recommend Baker House, particularly if you can arrange for good weather!

This place is clean and well equipped with everything you would need to make your own meals. Some great authentic touches to the lighthouse cottage which resembles a real one. The owner is very nice and friendly. There are two other cottages as well for rent but we stayed in the lighthouse. The view is great that overlooks a part of the bay. Nikki the newfoundland dog is really cute. If you have mobility issues ask for the other cottages as getting up the hill will be a bit of a challenge. We really enjoyed our time there and the deck is spacious with a BBQ
And chairs. You will need to buy your food to bring there. Nola can hook you up with a local fresh fish purchase.

The Green Bay area (Springdale area) is one place in the province that we (and many others I think) normally tend to bypass on the highway and don't detour there for very long. On the way to Gros Morne we decided to stay in the area for a night. We happened upon Coffee Cove Retreat in the Tourism Guidebook and so glad we booked the night there. Prior to this we had never heard of Coffee Cove. While it's a little out of the way (about a 20 or 25 min. drive from the TCH) it's well worth the detour. We stayed at the lighthouse cabin (has a great 360 deg. view in a little area above the bedroom loft). Great view of the bay. The Baker House (an old saltbox house) also available there looks great as well.
You should remember to bring your food with you - you won't find a restaurant or grocery store in Coffee Cove (population 19). Nearest larger town is Springdale, a 10 or 15 min. drive, grocery store and restaurant available there. BBQ available at the Lighthouse and most of the staples you'll need ( coffee, sugar etc) are there as well. Cabin very clean. Firelog available if you're inclined to have a fire on the deck (in the firepit). Nola and Paul very friendly hosts.
Certainly would recommend this place to stay for one or several nights. Lots to see in the Green Bay area. Very quiet and peaceful.

We were looking for an off the beaten path experience in Newfoundland and found heaven. Located about 20 km up the road from the "big" town of Springdale (population 2, 900) the settlement of Coffee Cove has about five homes. The next door neighbor to Coffee Cove Retreat is a small farm with sheep, goats and a cow. We stayed in the 150 year old "Baker House" that Paul and Nola lovingly renovated. We found the house perfect for the two of us ( it would have been comfortable with an additional one or two people) and were floored by the story that Nola told us of the little house being home to 13 children and two adults back in the day. The house is situated on the same property as the Nola and Paul's modern home built in the style of the Newfoundland fisherman's house and the Newfie style lighthouse that Paul built as additional guest quarters. The Baker House sits right on a beautiful cove. Poppies and bachelor buttons were springing up here and there around the house. Nola and Paul are absolutely wonderful. They have thought of everything that one could possibly want, down to marshmallow forks for the bonfire they'll build if the wind and the weather are favorable in the evening. Nola loves sharing tips for finding interesting places to visit. She lined us up with a great boat tour of icebergs during our stay and can direct you where to buy lobster in season. She provided us with a close up map of the area and helped us map out a route to visit picturesque towns. We stayed for three nights and would have very happily stayed longer.
