Detailed Reviews
This great value accomodation with its spacious bedroom and comfortable bed possessed the one essential for a 5 out of 5 experience which is an amazing host. Catherine is a wonderful caring and considerate hostess. As a conversationalist she is second to none and she makes one feel at home from the outset. Her home made bread alone is worth staying for. Could not recommend more highly for a place to stay.

We stopped here on the off chance, searching for somewhere to sleep, have a meal and a few drinks.
The pleasant owner made 2 twin rooms available for us within no time and served the 4 of us with a decent meal.
Both the Heineken and Guinness were excellent and the barman was a very friendly chap.
Overall, the cost was very reasonable and the en suite rooms were very clean and tidy.

Stayed here with a group of friends during the Fleadh in Mullingar. It is situated less then 10 minutes outside the town, just off a main road, over looking a lake. The rooms were large and clean, with the beds being extremely comfortable! Nice hot showers in the en-suites too. There was great craic in the bar one of the nights we stayed, live music, lively set dancing, sound bar staff and best of all, lovely pints. The owner Derek was sound and very easy to deal with and the lady was equally nice and even ironed a shirt for one of the lads staying, they couldn’t have been more accommodating, will definitely be back again for the Fleadh next year.

Toilets were a joke you could not close door of toilet. To excuse your self. Need addressing Staff were a joke no communication Dog walking around very unhygienic for a place serving food. Needs major attention. Carpark needs attention to removing chippings

Had a very enjoyable stay recently in the Covert. We were made to feel so welcome by the owner, Catherine - nothing was too much trouble for her. Lovely log fires, very comfortable beds and a breakfast that really set us up for the day. A great stopping place travelling West or to Dublin

Close by the lakeside walk and on the N4 this is a convenient location. Recently refurbished and very cosy with a welcoming fire and hospitable owner. We had teas/ coffees and a selection of home made sandwiches. Excellent value and quality. They have rooms, a bar and a broader menu if needed. Recommended

We were made feel very welcome here by Liz. Glad it is reopened. Has a small menu but food was great. It’s now a lovely bright restaurant with good parking at the door. While wasn’t very busy at the time there were people coming and going. Definitely worth a return trip

Absolutel disgrace,we arrived, and they had resold our accommodation, leaving us stranded at 10 pm that night with no other accommodation available nearby.
To make matters worse, it's been over 1 month, and they still have not refunded us

The Covert bar is up and running again.......good news...
A famous pub in the Midlands, was a great stop off point for people heading to the west of Ireland, I just had to see for myself if the pub was open again.
Ventured down with the brother for the All Ireland, not sure if it was open, but walked in and sure enough, pints were served and the game on the box.
As the pre-game build up was going on, more and more people came in, so by the start of the game a good crowd had developed, ensuring a lively enough atmosphere in the pub.
Played it safe and ordered Rockshore lager, which was fine, and the brother got Guinness, he said was good..........next time so........
Pints were nice and cold........
People were eating near by, and talking to them, they said the meal was very good, but for the moment one needs to phone ahead for food.
The bar man was busy but very efficient, and friendly...... going round taking orders, pulling pints, cleaning tables and making things tick along. A good bar man equals a good pub. Top quality bar man.
We both spent a few hours in the pub and the atmosphere was good.
The accommodation has been open for a while now but good to see they are making progress with the pub and hopefully will have meals over the weekends soon.
