We reserved three months prior to our 'stay' only to be told a week before that they had not noted it down. Even though we had received confirmation from said hotel and booking.com we rang to see what had happened, only to be told they could give us another hotel in the area (of terrible quality) and that was it. That this wasn't their problem. If you do not 'note down' your clients stay, THE HOTEL IS CULPABLE. My partner rang up and spoke to them in Spanish and basically they washed their hands of us. So thank you for ruining our anniversary. I urge people not to stay here and instead stay in other places like Granada where they actually reserve your reservation and look after their guests. Absolutely disgusted.
We were on our way from Malaga to Madrid and we decided to stop midway. We stayed at the hotel SUPER CHARMING hotel! Nice, clean, price-quality ratio is great, and super easy to get there from the motorway. The owners are super friendly and helpful.
This review is a bit late My wife and I stayed in July 2017 while driving down to Marbella . But it snowing outside and I have been thinking back to sunnier times . It was an ideal place to stop it is a bit like going back in time in this delightful town . We found to hotel very easily only minutes off the E-5 we were greeted by the owners son who was a delight he showed us to our room and it was lovely immaculately clean . They have a small pool that was a joy to get into as it was about 40deg . We found some quirky places to eat . The next day when we left for Marbella he gave us a bottle of local olive oil . I would definitely recommend staying here we were made so welcome.
Why would any weary traveller choose to break a journey, in an isolated village like Guarromán and stay in a 2* hotel without restaurant or bar? It's simple....Palacio del Intendente is not just a place to rest your head and recharge the batteries, it is an experience in itself! As soon as that door is opened, you are stunned by the very personal welcome and the spotless splendour of the entrance hall. Identification is obviously required and photocopied, but there is no formality; no signing of small print disclaimers and handing over of keys; just real conversation and a genuine interest in how far you've travelled. Once the 'workings' of the coffee machine and the small 'kitchen' have been explained, Juani or Manuel will actually show you to your room, themselves. As you follow through traditionally tiled staircase and beautifully furnished gallery, you just know that your room is going to be individual; it certainly won't have the standard, soul-less layout and built-in furniture of so many hotels, today. The care and cleanliness of the antiques you see, in the public areas, reassures you that your own room is going to receive the same degree of attention. The owners clearly love what they have and what they do. OK, there are no meals provided, but if you plan your visit or call at the local supermarket, a simple breakfast can be stored in the communal fridge or heated in the microwave. Coming straight from three busy hotel breakfast rooms, during our tour, it was a pleasant change to be able to take our fruit out into the terrace/pool area...again lovingly maintained...and start the day quietly and at our own pace. If you prefer not to self-cater, there are several bars in the village, which are bound to offer the usual tostadas or croissants; and Manuel is bound to recommend 'Las Tijanas' (five minutes away, by car) if you want more luxury and choice.. For us, our two nights' stay was exactly what we needed, before completing our journey home...total relaxation, in beautiful and welcoming surroundings. In fact, we enjoyed our time in Palacio del Intendente much more than in some of the 4* hotels we'd used and will certainly stay there again, when we are next passing that area. Many thanks to you both and your staff!…
An amazing find, a beautifully and exceptionally clean establishment, family run. We were greeted by Manuel the owners son, very charming and speaking excellent English. The whole of the Palcio is tastefully decorated with period furnishings. The bedroom was great with a walk in shower and air conditioning. There is a pool and patio for smokers! No restaurant but Manuel recommend a local one and even arranged for us to be picked up and returned by the restaurant manager. Perfect!
