I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago, and I was thrilled to find it still in pristine condition, with even more construction and improvements underway. Everything about my stay was exceptional.
The food was absolutely to die for—flavors that linger in your memory long after the meal. The rooms were quiet, relaxing, and well-maintained, with the same lovely-scented toiletries and body washes that I remembered. Room service breakfast arrived like clockwork, making mornings seamless.
The staff deserves special mention for their kindness and reliability. I needed to visit a convenience store, and one of the concierge staff, Themba, went above and beyond by personally accompanying me to the mall to ensure I found everything I needed. When I returned, I realized I had items requiring refrigeration, but the minibar in my room was full. A quick call to reception, and they brought me an additional mini fridge! I was amazed by their fast and thoughtful resolution.
The casino area remains as lively as ever, with plenty of options for dining, nightlife, and shopping. It’s the perfect place to unwind and explore after a day of relaxation or work.
And finally, I can’t forget the lamb shank—it’s a must-try and truly unforgettable!
Overall, it was an amazing stay, even better than I remembered. I’ll definitely return again!

I’ve had a 9 days break at this beautiful property and loved staying at this property. The Montecasino place is a must visit with only a golf cart ride away. Although old it has a lovely ambiance and the service is okay. On arrival at 4:30am or so we met Shadrac at the reception, a pleasant young man who was extremely polite and helpful. Although there were issues with our bookings he did not hesitate to offer us a room to rest till daylight and we managed to sort it out after breakfast and a good rest. I asked for a room overlooking the gardens and he and he obliged.
I had breakfast and dinner almost every night and there wasn’t much to choose from….food was okay. The service not so much as I found most of them rude and unpleasant. But was lucky to come across a beautiful and kind young lady called Elizabeth. She always had a smile and was so helpful. The doormen and the chauffeur service is excellent but not cheap. We found it safe to use the service.
Rooms were too dim as the lighting wasn’t that great although very clean. Housekeeping was always available and they had a turn down service where they provided chocolate by the bedside and water and draw the curtains left open; very nice. The gardens were so beautiful and well taken care of. I didn’t use the pool but sat around there as the weather was very cold and it rained some days. There is also a shopping mall 10 mins away. The manager brought us 2 bottles of fine red wine to welcome us and fruits basket on the day before we left. Overall I will recommend this property.

Palazzo is a grand hotel with amazing architecture and a fantastic location. I stayed here for 3 days for a business visit with my colleagues.
My room was in the 5 th floor and was neat and clean with good linen.
Unfortunately for vegetarians the options are very limited. Both the a la carte menu for lunch / dinner and breakfast has very few vegetarian options. However the nearby Montecasino has a few vegeterian options including Thava, and Indian restaurant.
The Montecasino area house two theatres. I was lucky enough to be able to attend a stand up comedy on Sat . Do not miss watching a show if you are staying during weekend or on Wednesday.
A major drawback with the hotel rooms is that the windows are not sound proof . My room was next to the roads and you could hear traffic all through the night and especially the mornings. The WiFi has a poor signal in the rooms. The rooms did not have an Iron.
The stay was fine for a business visit. I would not be motivated to come for a personal stay due true above drawbacks.

I have stayed this hotel countless times and have always had a great experience, sadly this last trip was far from that. I checked into my room and had a few issues with the room. Toilet seat broken, toilet door couldn't close or lock at all. the bedside reading lamp didn't work. torn curtains, aircon not effective. I waited until the morning and went to the front desk to complain, I was told they would inform the manager and I should return later to find out feedback. I returned to my room a few hours later and nothing had been done, and added to that the coffee amenities had not been replenished. I went to the front desk again and complained again. I was told that the maintenance had been to the room and found no faults. They said they will send the housekeeping to the room to replenish the coffee, this was 7pm at this stage and also the rooms had not been turned down as yet. I complained again on checkout and said I was not happy with not having my complaints attended to and not a word from any manager at all. Not the best experience for a 5 star hotel.

*The property is overpriced, dated and poorly designed and absolutely not what it purports to be in the photos they show on the website. *The service ranges from inept to rude and the staff seem unable to resolve any problems. *The food is sub-standard, the evening meal was mixed quality but the breakfast is inedible with food looking extremely unappetizing and in cases, not replenished. *We booked a double room with a rollaway bed for our 7 year old but were given a room with 2 double beds meaning my wife and daughter had to share. I went to speak to reception for a solution. Their only offer was for us to pay an additional 5,880ZAR (twice what we paid for the original booking) for another room. * The wifi is slow and intermittent, even for browsing low data apps like Instagram * The hotel entices you with luxurious images of the property, but does not deliver on good quality in any other respect.
It’s disappointing as we were looking forward to spending our last day at this property but instead we feel stuck here having had very poor sleep, and my wife having not eaten since she’s arrived.

I always wanted to experience the Palazzo hotel as they claim to be the best. When one books into a 5 start hotel, it is expected that one would received 5 star service too. The room which they put us in was located at the most extreme end of the hotel which is quite a distance from the lifts. I tried to call reception for some service however there was no body that answered the calls. I tried 2 or 3 times with the same outcome. Even the next day when calling reception that was no one that attended to the calls. Eventually upon check out someone answered the phone. There were no waiters in sight around the pool area if one want to order snacks and drinks. I had to call the hotel to tell them to send someone over. There was no transport was made available when going from the hotel to the casino and back. Breakfast - no waiters comes to your table to check if everything is ok and check if the sugar bowl is stacked or ask if one would like to order anything from the kitchen. Ordered a Cappuccino and it was luke warm. Overall experienced at the Palazzo was really poor service from a hotel claiming to be 5 stars...This hotel is more like a standard 2 stars rating and even at 2 star places the service is better. :( Will not stay at the Palazzo again. I am totally put off..

This hotel is by far the most overrated place I've been to in many years. The few pics attached are worth thousands words but it should be shut down for a deep renovation and it's definitely not 5* rated. From check-in I had to get the technical team come twice to fix a broken window in my room. Then the AC was not cooling and noticed a thick layer of mold so disgusting and definitely a health and safety issue. Contacted by the GM Ms Catia Vegas who acknowledged it but said and I quote " there's nothing we can do about it. The grill are not accessible due to the design of the room". This place needs to be shut down.

I booked a night as a treat for my husband’s birthday. I was so disappointed. The wallpaper in the passage to our room is torn and scuffed. In our room needed some of the lights don’t work and the reading lights next to the bed are falling out the wall! The door to the garden doesn’t open and when we phoned reception, they promised someone would come and open it, no one came. We asked the lady who did our turndown to report it and she said she would, but no one came. There is no info in the room about mealtimes, the hotel or Monte Casino. The signal on the TV is terrible, no CNN, no Sky News, no option to log into any of the streaming channels. The bathroom smells mouldy and the toilet seat is loose. You must queue and wait to be seating for breakfast because there are not enough tables for hotel guests. All in all not what I expected. I should have rather booked elsewhere!

It appears that the palazzo hotwl wants to charge guests for high end rates in exchange for no service. Ordered a simple Prego roll at the palazzo pools and 2 hours later it never arrived. If you are visiting rhe pool area, it is basically self service as there is zero assistance around if you need towels or wish to order food. For a hotel that charges 5 star rates, and provides this bad service, you are better off frequenting other establishments close by.

During this most difficult time of Covid-19, a one night stay at the Palazzo was the best medicine and was badly needed. On arrival we were upgraded to a junior suite which was a wonderful surprise. The staff were very attentive. The room itself was spectacular and there was nothing missing from the room that could make it even better. Beautifully designed with amazing decor, every little detail planned beautifully. The hotel is not far from home but we felt like we were miles and miles away from the craziness of the outside World. The dinner was magnificent and stunningly presented. Of course, all precautions were taken before the meal, it was served with no table cloths and the table was disinfected beforehand. Hand sanitizer was provided at the door. There were hardly any people in the restaurant so no issue with social distancing, whatsoever. The breakfast was served efficiently and was delicious. Since it was after 10 am, champagne was served with breakfast, adding that special touch. All in all, the Palazzo at Montecasino was a wonderful safe haven from everything going on outside in the World and while being responsible, we were allowed to still support the local tourism industry.
