Our first time out in 18 months was spent with a meet up with friends in Enniscrone. This is a spacious hotel located close to a beautiful beach with plenty of parking and plenty of seating areas in reception and bar areas. Digital self service temperature check at check in and hand sanitizers placed around the hotel. Staff were very friendly, all wearing masks, chatty but still professional. Rooms had been recently refurbished and were very comfortable. Food was ok but I was reliably informed from my friends who have stayed here numerous times that in previous years it had been excellent. Breakfast was good.It is understandable that there might be a bit of a wobbly start to opening up again. Would we return? Yes

OK so I've beeen to the Diamond Coast 3 times before and it's always been reasonable good so I'm writing this review on the basis that C19 has messed things up for everyone and getting everything in motion again is not easy. Anyway, it should not be at my expens. The g=food thiis time was a bit UGH. There are waaay to many things on the menu and the quality suffers as a result. On night 1 i had the Chicken Korma curry which was dry chunk of chicken smothered in a glupy Korma sauce - not great. The second night I went for the roast of the day which consisted of slippery thick pieces of Ham with microwaved and slighty burnt veg - just not good enough for a 4 Star property. There also seems to be just too many ad ons on the menu (see photo's). The staff are very nice however once again it is supposed to be 4 Star and as such the table service staff need to be trained properly as they are just not up to speed. This is a management issue whic needs to be sorted. When I booked online I was sent an email informing me of all thee C19 protocols that were in place. It mentioned that everyone would be temperature tested at reception - This did NOT happen. Seriously, there is no point in sending out an email with DO's & Don't's if you're not going to implement them. The sleep quality was very good and that is a big plus. Will we be back? Hmmm if the food quality is better

Dear Doug, Thank you for taking the time to write your review of your recent stay with us, it was disappointing to read that you did not enjoy some aspects of your stay with us. It was unfortunate that you did not ask to speak with our Restaurant Manager to discuss your meal as i did notice from your photos that you emptied your veg onto the plate, even though you felt it was burnt and microwaved, which i can assure you we do not microwave our vegetables, we would have been more than happy to replace it at the time. I have spoken to our Executive chef and he apologizes sincerely that you did not enjoy some aspects of your meal, which i also do, but i do think it is very unfair to pass a comment such as "Bring in Gordon Ramsey" this is not constructive and is quite insulting to the very hard working kitchen team that we have. It is certainly not something that any of our kitchen team would like to read, because if there is an issue it was never intentional. I am surprised that you did not see the digital temperature check at reception that all of our guests use, in actually fact the very next review that was received after your own , acknowledges this fact. We do follow all of the DO'S and DONT'S that we send in our pre stay email, for some reason you did not see it in the middle of the main reception desk. It was great to read that you have stayed with us 3 times previously and found no fault, it is just a pity on this occasion that you did not discuss your issues with us before you left as we never want any guest to leave the hotel unhappy. I wish you a very safe and healthy summer. Kind Regards Michael Yates
