Once again we have enjoyed an amazing holiday on Baros. It been our 8th visit, spread over something like 25 years and once again the whole experience has proven to us that this remains our favourite Maldivian island. We visited 7 or 8 other islands before we found Baros and since then have always come back here. The island remains a perfect mix of traditional along with the comforts expected of a luxury destination. Over the years it has been modernised but with careful thought given to retaining it’s original charm. The always friendly staff have been attentive and professional whilst making everything so smooth, from the moment we were collected from the airport right through to every part of our stay. The staff themselves are delightful and very obviously enjoy their work which gives the whole place an amazingly relaxed vibe, it’s very easy to find the days slipping by too fast! The one downside to any Maldivian holiday is that thereafter no other beach holiday can match a vacation spent on one of these islands and, in our opinion, Baros remains the best of them!…

We had the most amazing honeymoon experience at Baros in the Maldives. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and special, including greeting us by name as we stepped off the boat from the airport. We spent our first few nights in a deluxe villa on the beach, which was wonderful and the views from bed to the beach and the ocean were delightful. We were then extremely fortunate to receive an upgrade to a water villa with pool by the manager who wanted to make our honeymoon experience extra special. The room was spacious and airy, with incredible views and Anas (our assigned guest concierge/butler) ensured we had the sunset view. It was wonderful to be able to watch the sunset every evening and made our stay that much more romantic. From our over water villa, we had the most incredible views of the ocean and could easily go snorkeling right from our deck. Baros offers amazing snorkeling opportunities and provides masks, fins and snorkels free of charge. The reefs are teeming with marine life, and we had the chance to see a wide variety of marine life, including fish, octopuses, rays, sharks and sea turtles. The hotel has a resident marine biologist and dive team, and we also enjoyed the walk around the hotel grounds with the biologist who explained various uses and interesting facts about the local flora. The service we received across the board was top-notch. In particular, our butler, Anas, went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable. He messaged us via Whatsapp a few days before we arrived to introduce himself and get us ready for our stay, and he arranged various surprises for us, including a romantic dinner on the beach that was simply magical, and other treats which were much appreciated. As mentioned, the service throughout our stay was excellent, with all the staff incredibly friendly, responsive, helpful and welcoming and with lots of little extras included which really added to the overall experience. The resort is well-equipped for watersports (stand up paddle boards, wind surfing, kayaking etc) which are available to rent at extra charge. One morning we went on a big game fishing excursion, where we caught a sailfish, and saw dolphins and short-fin pilot whales. These experiences were truly unforgettable and made our honeymoon even more special. We also made regular use of the gym, which was well-equipped (especially for a hotel gym) and had everything we needed for a good workout. The grounds of the resort were very well-kept, with lush vegetation and beautiful landscaping all around. The ambience, especially in the evening, is stunning. The breakfast was amazing, with a range of a la carte healthy options (e.g., coconut acai bowls, omelettes etc) alongside the buffet of hot food, fresh bread/pastries, juices, cold meats and cheese, sushi, fresh fruit, etc. Generally we were extremely impressed by the quality of the food throughout our stay, especially the buffet served on Easter Sunday where we enjoyed the freshest seafood and various other delicacies. The Lighthouse Restaurant has two tasting menus which are on a par with some of the best restaurants in London. One point to note is that (in keeping with a luxury hotel) the food and drink is expensive (even for those used to London prices), but you must also consider the stunning location, often eating beside the Indian Ocean with beautiful surrounds and excellent service. We knew to expect this from the Maldives, and it did not detract from our overall enjoyment. Overall, we cannot recommend Baros hotel in the Maldives enough. Wow, not our first visit sitting at Male airport now and looking forward to returning to Baros. Incredible views and atmosphere, awesome reef for snorkelling and diving, great food (need to go on a diet now!) above all Shijah and his team give outstanding customer service right across the services . From Anas who arranged anything we needed and provided great advice, the relaxing Spa guys and girls , through Hardy and the awesome restaurant and Bar team to the guys who carefully clean and maintain the place. I’m a nervous diver but Ahmed, Ali, Marie and the team look after you really well inspiring trust and confidence. Can’t wait to go back.

From the moment we got off the boat and we met our butler, Vishan, everything was perfect. The water villa was beautiful and comfortable. The service was second to none, from the waitstaff, to the people at the dive center to the person who maintained our villa. Our every need was anticipated and taken care of. Vishan was very attentive and arranged a candlelit on the beach for our anniversary. We went snorkeling a couple of times…thanks to Marie for encouraging me. We enjoyed our dinners at the Lighthouse. We had breakfast at Lime every morning and enjoyed seeing Sujata’s smiling face and warm hospitality. We will definitely be back because I was sad to leave. Thank you Baros for making our 30th anniversary trip memorable.

In the past four years, my mind and body have been filled with exhaustion. So when I had the opportunity to travel, I chose my favorite country, the Maldives. This time, I came to Baros. Although it is small, it is incredibly beautiful, the food is delicious, and the snorkeling is fantastic! The service is also excellent and thoughtful. Our third visit here was for two weeks and superlatives fail us. The villas (a water villa and then a beach pool villa), food (Lime, Sails and The Lighthouse) and, importantly, staff all excelled. Special memories are of early mornings relaxing on the beach before the most amazing breakfasts, our daily dives seeing the most beautiful reefs (so many fish, rays, eels, sharks, octopus, lobsters, shrimp), afternoon snorkels on the incredible, colourful house reef, sunsets over cocktails and canapes at the Lighthouse. Our meals at the Lighthouse were simple excellent, and we spent many lazy afternoons at Sails or in Lime relaxing after 2 hours of diving. The staff are universally brilliant creating a relaxed but attentive atmosphere, but special thanks to Ahmed at the dive school – we have dived all over the world and he is the best guide you will have. Shuga also gave a fantastic biology talk, and the boat crew were great. Upsy, Dayu, and Sujarta were really wonderful waitresses. Genesis, thank you, but we tipped so many people for such amazing service we ran out of dollars – next time we promise! Juni and Siti are so brilliant in the Spa that we had 4 Balinese massages each. Hasir and Shazeel made everything logistical work smoothly. We spent a wonderful week at another resort before Baros but on arrival we remembered why we keep returning here. We had an overwater bungalow. We were there for three days and had a perfect experience. Great food, wonderful snorkeling, great staff. A bonus was the cooking class. A bonus is that instead of having to arrange flights to and from a resort, its close enough that they send a boat to pick you up at the airport.

We’ve arrived back ‘home’ in heaven. Writing this review in our overwater villa with the sun shining on the azure Indian Ocean and looking forward to going diving this afternoon. A huge thank you to Anas for looking after us so well already and to the dive team for arranging our diving so seamlessly - they still had all our records from previous visits. Had a lovely cocktail in the lighthouse bar and a fabulous meal at the tappenyaki. Life doesn’t get much better than this! ❤️

Stayed here with my partner for one week, in an over water villa, our whole experience from the moment we were picked up from the airport, was 5 star and exceptional. All the staff there, truly go above and beyond to make sure your stay is one to remember. Our villa was luxurious, spacious and comfortable, our butler Daria was an amazing host nothing was too much trouble, she even arranged for us to have a private romantic meal on the beach and a pool villa upgrade which was complimentary and amazing! Food was also outstanding, it is 5 star gourmet every single meal, even in just in the Lime restaurant it was exceptional. Baros is simply a haven of relaxation and luxury in a paradise setting.
