We arrived and there was a note for us to ring someone, within 5 minutes Lawrence arrived to greet us saying that our hosts had to go off an take care of an emergency. Lawrence then introduced us to what I thought was going to be the attic room we booked but to our surprise they had given us the gite. What a beautifully well thought out gite and you could see a lot of thought had gone into the decoration. There were little touches throughout the place that made our stay truly special. There was even a waterbed in our bedroom and a hot tub on the veranda. One thing that truly stuck out was their love of the Meren horses and Lawrence was kind enough to take us to a field so that we could see and touch the horses. We can't wait to return next spring and anyone who loves horses, this is the place to stay!

We stayed here for one night on our way from the valley of Lot to Biarritz. The hosts, Christine and Jean Louis, are very open and friendly. We enjoyed a very warm welcome. As we arrived late (it was past 7pm and getting dark), we were wondering if we would be able to have dinner at all as the village was pretty small and we did not see there any place to eat. Jean Louis immediately dispelled our concerns by making a phone call to an excellent small restaurant in a neighboring village (10 min drive) where we enjoyed some exceptionally good cuisine.

Back at Haras Picard, we found ourselves in a very spacious and comfortable room, furnished well above our expectations. The en suite bathroom was excellent, with strong hot water flow. The bed was king size and not too soft, which is often a problem at much more expensive establishments. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was ample and very well presented. We had our meal in a bright big room downstairs with windows opening onto the garden.

The village (Lasserre) is quiet and peaceful although it perhaps lacks any particular charm. However, the surrounding area is gorgeous – from the lawn in front of the house you can see the mountain peaks covered with snow. We did not know exactly what we were going to find when we went to Haras Picard, but what we did find was very well worth a visit. A highly recommended place.

Very welcoming hosts. Excellent room. Delicious breakfast, using home made and local produce. We stayed there last year and were delighted, and our second stay, this year, added to our total satisfaction.

The hosts are superb people. Helpful, friendly, kind. Wish we could have stayed in the area longer.
Nice features of the place and the area include:rustic but creative interior decorating, fabulous mountains, beautiful horses, near the route of the Tour de France (2013), even an attractive line of apparel available.

We stumbled across this place by accident on trip advisor and decided to give it a try for one night. I only wish we had stayed longer! Wonderfully quiet and peaceful in the countryside. The hosts were stars - friendly, helpful, recommending a local restaurant, and so so. Breakfast on the terrace was wonderful with home-made bread, jams, and their own special apple juice. We had the wonderful "bamboo room", ectectically furnished and such a change from bland hotel suites - perfect! Fantastic value for money, too (but beware-doesn't take credit cards). A perfect experience.

We spent two nights B and B staying in the Bamboo suite which was tasteful and comfortable. Christine and Jean Louis are most charming and interesting hosts and their love of their horses and the area is very obvious. Breakfast was outstanding with lovely home made produce. This is an extremely tranquil place surrounded by lovely gentle countryside and although we did not get round to this it would make an excellent base for gentle walks from the door - which are mapped out in the info pack.
The World Heritage site of ST Lizier is a short drive away and the country to the south is very beautiful. The views of the Pyrennees from the Farm when the weather is clear are stunning. A lovely and unusual place to stay.

We spent three nights in the gite at Haras Picarddu Sant. The gite was really well done with everything that you could want for a short stay. With it being October we made use of the log burning fire in the corner which made the whole thing a very cosy experience. The water bed was novel and very comfortable and the decor was extremely well done with power showers etc. The view from the bedroom was of a field with the Merens horses covered by a backdrop of snow covered mountains. Fantastic.

Breakfast was simple but very nice - filter coffee, country bread and locally made apricot jam. There was also milk and cereal provided if you didn't want the bread. Jean-Louis was a charming host and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone who is thinking of a visit to this beautiful area. The auberge at Tortouse is excellent with enormous portions - make sure you go hungry!

A truly fantastic place. An emotional family story based on strong values and the breeding of the Merens Horses. A place full of liberty nature and great view of the Pyrenees Mountains. Beautifully decorated rooms. Very warm and comfortable. Lovely chalet style accommodation also available for 4 to 12 people including pool and jacuzzis//spa.
Délicieux breakfast. Very kind friendly knowledgeable on the region owners.

This is a magical place to stay in a beautiful area.
Jean-Louis and Christine are wonderful hosts and their hearts and souls are imbued in their charming establishment.
Jean-Louis gave us some great local information and booked us into a lovely family restaurant in a nearby village, which we would never have found otherwise.
Although they don’t serve lunch or dinner, they do produce the most wonderful breakfast, comprising of their own produce and other local items.
The room we stayed in was massive and beautifully designed. Our first experience of a water bed but we both slept very well.
Our only regret was that we were only staying one night as we travelled through the area. We would love to come back and enjoy their hospitality for longer and walk in the beautiful surroundings.
Don’t miss the DVD on their horse breeding and care, which explains how the Haras has developed.
