If you're English, don't stay here, you won't feel welcome. So utterly disappointed in the hospitality, from the moment we arrived and felt as if we were under a headmistress' eye throughout. The atmosphere is not relaxing & we were never once greeted with a smile form the owners. We are a 30 year old couple with a naturally happy disposition so are clueless as to why we received such a hostile attitude from this establishment. We arrived after a very busy weekend in the Alps, my partner took part in in Marmotte cycling race & thought this place would be ideal as it had a spa and we could book a room with a bath. Upon arriving we were told they didn't have a room with a bath & the spa was not available for use. (We were told that because we didn't arrive at the time we estimated, we lost our opportunity.) There was a total lack of empathy here or an apology over not being able to have the room with a bath. The room was quite small & we were a little disappointed so went back down to reception & asked if we could swap to another room with a view of the river instead. This request was met, we were handed another key - the room we were given did have a twin room attached to it & a view of the river. Needless to say, we didn't need the twin room arrangement but thought it was perhaps the only one left with a river view. Upon leaving the next morning they then tried to charge us for the twin room arrangement because we asked for a different room, we had to pay. We then expressed that we originally booked a room with a bath and weren't happy to pay extra for two rooms, instead of one. The dining experience was also really terrible, (food was great!) we were seated down, left for a good five mins before being handed any menus - when I did ask for a menu we received eye rolls & a bit of a huffy response. We were left scratching our heads, wondering what we had done wrong to receive such a hostile attitude from the female manager. We ordered a glass of wine, a beer and a bottle of water - which didn't arrived until promoted, which was so handled really badly by the female manager who just sort of threw it on our table. When ordering with this lady, it was clear she didn't have any patience & was very stern with us. We had a couple of questions over the menu, one of which was over what kind of potato came with the salmon - we wondered if it was gratin, boiled, mashed, fries - she just responded with, "potato". (A little odd.) If I'm honest, there were so many uncomfortable moments when interacting with this lady, which then then filtered through to other staff (they had clearly been talking about us). We asked if vegetables came with the dishes too & were told they did. We ordered our meals with another waitress, who had a friendly demure - it was the first time we had experienced someone who didn't seem to have an issue with us (we still don't know why...). Upon receiving our meals we found that because we'd ordered the 'fries' option, there wouldn't be any vegetables. It was all very confusing because it wasn't made clear to us that if we change the 'potato' order, the vegetables aren't served. We expressed that we did mention when serving that we wanted vegetables & still wanted them. The waitress then almost snatched the fries off the table with a stressful breath! We said that we still wanted the fries but would also like vegetables, she then stormed off without saying anything & we were left wondering what we had done to received such appalling service & didn't know if any veg would be served. The food was delicious, the chef cooked everything perfectly. We were then charged for the fries but said we weren't happy to pay for them. Needless to say, we didn't stay for breakfast in the morning. Upon check out, my boyfriend did try to make polite talk with the female manager by saying that they had finished the hotel really nicely and she responded with, "I know." She also asked where we were from and when he said England, she gave an eye roll and a little smirk. SO incredibly rude. We were disgusted with this establishment and the treatment we received. Such a disappointing stay. Ps the pillows were lumpy too and we didnt have any tea/coffee in our room.…
There were 3 of us for dinner in these strange times. We all went for the 34€ menu , I started with the marinated raw sea bass. I was a little disappointed with this because the description said with ginger and I could detect no trace. Next I had pig cheeks in a local beer sauce, which was served in a small casserole with lots of peas , cauliflower ,potatoes and yellow carrots. This was really good with lovely tender slow cooked meat. For wine we a bottle of rosé Magali which had the right flavour for me. to finish off I had the pavlova which was a meringue dish filled with fruit and whipped cream and was really good. Service was very friendly and efficient, even though it was a full house(socially distanced of course). Everyone in the group enjoyed their meal and the atmosphere. 130€ for three.…
We were so warmly welcomed upon arriving - at a rather late hour for a couple on bicycles. Within minutes, we had our bikes stored and were up in our room. The great service continued throughout our short, but pleasant stay during dinner and breakfast. Great family run feeling, good rooms, good food. L'accueil que nous avons reçu était vraiment exceptionnel. Je me sentais tellement bien bienvenue dans l'établissement et que nous étions des clients importants. C'est un sentiment extraordinaire pour un client - bravo! C'était bien apprécié
We decided to try here because it has been some time since we ate here despite visiting Valloire in summer and winter for the last eight years. I had raw trout and grapefruit salad for starter followed by pork chop with cabbage and quinoa and to finish off rhubarb compote with white chocolate ice cream. All were very good. My son was a bit disappointed with his tagine. The restaurant manageress proposed a very pleasant and reasonably priced wine. 153€ for 4 people- 3 course menu plus wine and coffee was good value. The restaurant had been renovated since our last visit and had a very nice ambiance to it. The service was excellent.
Nicely refurbished hotel and restaurant with a slightly more dated bar on the side. The rooms are lovely, albeit small, with modern bathrooms and nice showers. Every member of staff we dealt with was a pleasure with one exception - the lady d'hote - who was just weird. We seemed to be too much trouble for her despite being pretty easy guests. My latest (polite) request for a wifi code was met with an imperceptible nod and a moue of displeasure; she waltzed off to help another client then returned to supply my wifi code without a word. Um, look up "hospitality", it's the industry you work in but you don't seem to understand it. Dinner good but a bit expensive - go to l'Entrepot over the road for a warm welcome and great food.
