Nestled in a scenic locale, Gava Waterman Milna Resort & Cottages is often praised for its stunning sea views, though accessibility may be a concern for some guests. The service at the resort receives mixed reviews, with staff described as friendly but occasionally slow to respond. This is a really stunning location and our double deluxe room had a beautiful view down the resort and to the sea. There were a couple of issues with our room though - when we arrived the door handle of the sliding door to the bathroom had fallen off and in one of the drawers there was a hotel notice covered in a pane of glass presumably to protect it but the glass was broken in two. This could have been very dangerous especially if children were in the room. We had to ask twice for them to remove it. We also asked them to fix the door handle and they sellotaped it back on!

The staff were mainly very friendly and helpful, especially the animators and we enjoyed the table tennis, archery tournament and bingo. However, a lot of the equipment is very tired and needs replacing such as the table tennis bats and the arrows for archery. The mini golf and outside gym equipment was also fun. There were paddle boards and boats for exploring in the sea but it would have been nice if goggles/masks were available or to hire too instead of having to buy expensive ones from the shop. Also if the inflatable area was closer to the pontoon so less confident swimmers could reach it

There was a selection of food, but like others have said it can feel a bit samey, and although I'm pleased they did try to reuse leftovers, some of the combinations of things they threw together were a bit strange. Depending on when you arrive, the food can also have gone a bit cold. Also there were things that I would have preferred fresh, for instance watermelon is my favourite fruit but I could only have it when they served the fresh slices during snack time, as the rest of the time they served what looked like leftover cubed watermelon that had that slimy and sour texture/taste. We did always find something that we could eat though and had brought some money to have a few meals out too.

I'm not sure what it is like during the main season but when we went in September public transport directly to/from Milna i.e catamaran/bus was very few and far between so difficult to explore if you haven't hired a car. A taxi from Supetar to Milna if you miss the last bus is around 350 Kuna so not cheap. I would recommend the tourist information in Milna though who will give you leaflets on the current timetables for everything as they do change throughout the season.

We did manage a trip to Split and also travelled to Split again to do an excursion to Krka National park. The resort is a beautiful location and I would recommend it if you don't really want to go out and about, but if you do it is quite remote and difficult to get anywhere.

The spa treatments were reasonably priced and we had a lovely massage in the outdoor pavillion which was lovely with the sound of the sea in the background and feeling the breeze. The indoor pool was great too with the sauna and steam room. I'm not sure why the pools are not open later though. Like others have said, also recommend taking your own beach towel as you get charged for these.

Thought I would do a mid holiday review.
Arrived on Sunday the transfer that I thought would be tedious, was nothing of the sort, pleasant and passed quick
Hotel lovely on arrival, quick check in, tho reception staff could have been a bit
more welcoming. No help with cases but
didnt bother us, may be a problem for
Some. Grounds and rooms very tasteful,
lovely airy room everything required. Maid
service daily though not particularly
thorough my mirror has been smudged for 4
days now and,a dropped a batterry and it
was still in the same place on the floor. The cleaner at the toilet pool did clean the toilet then wipe with same cloth
Maids pleasant and happy to oblige if you
ask.No water in room but you do get a
bottle if you ask, well most of the time. personally I would prefer plastic bottle
rather than a glass refil with no lid. I must admit I have been a little dissapointed with the food, not like advertised pictures. Small selection and though its cooked well its very similar every night. Think veggies
may struggle here even salad bar very basic. Whilst i understand nuts are used a lot as someone who is allergic it would be nice to have a choice, when their is something suitable its on a tray with nuts
and servers used for all. A simple solution would be to put a sign eg nut free please only use server supplied. I know this isnt easy to enforce but a simple thing would be a massive help. But
food is nice. As there are no lifeguards pools are a bit overrun, same old story no loungers as towels on and people notturning up till after lunch, and unsupervised children running riot. Why
not have someone checking the loungers and
removing towels and keep 1 pool adult only as in many other hotels. Otherwise nice pools beautiful views. Not particuarly big
but adequate. Would definately stop night swimming edpecially children alone as
accident waiting to happen and I'm sure it wouldnt be good for business. Beach steep but lovely steps are a bit hard. I will say this is the first time I have had to buy my own golf ball to play mini golf as they have none, people keep them. Easy solution lig them in and out or charge a deposit. Dont wish this to be a bad review just honest one. It is a lovely hotel in a lovely place, with a bit of thought it could be a really good hotel. And most of it free to implement. Staff training free, especially reception. Golf ball deposit free, adult pool just a sign, cleaning again training.sun loungers etc and night swimming monitered by existing staff. Improving the food and catering for special problems. I do feel that compared to other all inclusive holidays, and I generally do two a year, this was not value for the price we paid in comparrison.

My two daughters and I have just returned from a week staying at this resort and we would highly recommend the Gava Waterman. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, we especially enjoyed the pizza from the pool snack bar! We had a junior suite which was very roomy, well equipped and cleaned thoroughly and regularly. There were plenty of loungers by the pools and waterfront. We really enjoyed the inflatable in the sea. We went during Covid but the resort felt very safe. Social distancing was in place where possible and hand sanitiser was readily available in communal areas. The staff all wore face masks but due to the open air nature of the resort, the guests didn’t need to wear them. Brac is a lovely island and we even enjoyed the ferry ride from the mainland. I hope you find this helpful.

Nice stay, but how come you must use so much single use plastics everywhere, new plastic cup was delivered every time you had a drink, water, and ice cream. Thousands of plastic straws, stirrers, ice cream plastic spoons were consumed that week we spend there. Why ? why don’t you use, multi-use, washable cups etc. ? you are on a sensitive island, and alle that waste just go to the nearest landfill, and some end up in the ocean . Such a disaster to be a part of. A next question, how come that you change ALL towels every day ? all other hotels in the world ask people to put dirty towels on the floor, and they will leave the one customer hang on the rack, to save, water, energy, detergent. Most hotel inform customer about that, and put stickers , labels etc. up on mirrors , reception etc. It a very old fashion way of a not sustainable hotel management you are running I believe. You need to think more green, due to the fact you are on a small island with limited resources and a sensitive environment around.

Dear Seaside437098, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such candid feedback on your stay and we are pleased that you had a good stay overall. As for the use of plastic and our laundry service, we do have a very strict waste recycling system policy and there is no such thing that our waste just goes to the nearest landfill and ends up in the ocean. Our hotel management is sustainable and efficient in terms of minimizing our environmental impacts and safeguarding animal welfare and biodiversity for which we received a Gold Travel life certificate recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. Your opinion is highly appreciated and is considered as a learning tool, helping us be and do better. Thank you for all of your observations and commentaries, and above all, thank you for staying with us. It'd be a pleasure to host you again. Best Regards, Jan Niejadlik.

We stayed in the main building, the room was spacious but there was a little storage space. There was not much space to put away our belongings, no drawers only an open stand with few hungers, so we had to keep most of our stuff in the suitcases. We had a nice, big balcony with see view, we loved it. The safe was payable 1.5 euro a day, in the bathroom there was only liquid soap, no shampoo, no shower cap, so bring your own. The room had no blackout curtain only shatters which let a lot of light inside the room at night. I had a problem to fell asleep it was too bright for me. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, the closest shop is 25 min by foot, by hotel’s bus or by taxi. The food, we thought, was okey, however not very warm. The biggest problem we had it was a horrible smell of sewage on three days ( we stayed for a week), one day the smell was so bad that I was fisically sick. On our last night the smell woke me at 3am. We liked this hotel but the problem with sewage smell was too big for us to return.

We have just returned back from this hotel, do not let the bad reviews put you off as we had a great time, one of the best holidays we’ve had.
We stayed in one of forest cottages, the cottage was very clean and spacious with one of the biggest comfiest beds I have seen on a holiday.
The food was a little bit repetitive, but the quality was fine. We read some of the reviews prior to the holiday, and worried that the food was going to be inedible, but this is just not the case. We always found something to eat, and didn’t come away disappointed. At the end of the day, it was a pretty similar experience to most other all inclusive holidays, don’t be put off.
The views of the Adriatic were amazing, the bay that the hotel is situated was spectacular. We never had a problem getting a sun bed, always one available in the sun. There are always people that go and put towels down, but this goes on everywhere, it’s not fair to blame the hotel for this.
We had free use of Kayaks, we paddled out into the middle of the bay we’re the water was crystal clear. There was an inflatable area with a trampoline, but you would need to a accomplished swimmer to get over to it.
The staff in the reception, restaurant, bars and cleaners were all very polite and wanted to help you have a good time, very impressed.
The hotel puts on a free shuttle bus to Milna, which is a lovely little harbour 1.8km away, this is beautiful with bars and restaurants. We went to restaurants, Palma and the Navigare, both of which were superb, excellent food with decent prices.
The only one gripe that we had with the hotel was the lack of evening entertainment, whether this was down to it being the end of the season I’m not sure, but we were wanting a relaxing holiday so this suited us fine, other people looking for a bit of nightlife may want to steer clear and go to Bol which is more party oriented.
The journey from the airport to get to Gava takes a while, you have to get a bus from the airport to the ferry, then a minibus to the hotel, it takes a while, but not as bad as people are making out as you can relax on the ferry.
Overall very impressed, would definitely return.

Very lovely place, but a lot of stuff could be better.
Environment: beautiful place, with 2 nice swimming pools (plus a child one). Be aware there is not beach with sand. But a deck have been installed and allows you to go to swim in crystal clear water. the rooms are nice and confortable. The bed is huge.
Food/drinks: there is not a lot of choice of food but it was good (not high level food but tasted good). For the beverage, it is different. White wine is not good at all, rosé is less horrible but...
Animation: The animators was nice but the animations were very limited, especially during the evening. In 4 evenings, we had 2 movies nights !! A trivia night was organised and was fun but finished after 30 min... WE were disappointed. There are some SUP boards, kayaks in free service which is very nice. For children (and older ones) there is a floating trampoline in the sea
Other: the sales team never answered my questions by email, Facebook messenger or phone...
The conclusion is that we had a nice trip, we enjoyed it but we wouldn't do it a second time.

Gava waterman resort, Brac. Firstly let me say the JET 2 organisation was excellent and the hotel clean and modern with all the facilities as advertised.
However that’s as far as it goes, the check in was haphazard with no welcome and vague directions to our room which we think was the furthest from the main restaurants pools etc. As old age pensioners we found this thoughtless. The room was clean but lacked a pillow, no guides, no hotel map, no drawers for clothes. The bathroom had no toiletries, the electric shaver socket was hanging dangerously from the wall and the shower was a death-trap so slippery with no internal handle to steady yourself. the towels were small and threadbare. Some previous occupier had smashed the safe mechanism leaving it useless. Housekeeping comprises delivering 4 towels a day and does not exist on a Sunday.
It seems most guests cannot read – do not use inflatables in the pool – young children under the age of 12 should always be supervised – no jumping or diving in the pool - no glasses by the pool – no towels on chairs before 10.00. There are no reps or staff available or willing to enforce these rules for the enjoyment of the other guests
The fully inclusive food package seems to be good value until you savour the goods but only if you can fight your way to the buffet through the 7.00 to 9.00 ravenous heard, regretfully quantity does not make up for quality
The hotel sits in a very isolated location in a pretty bay but with a precarious pebble path down to a rocky shoreline - no beach. unless you intend to sunbathe everyday (weather permitting) or engage in the water aerobics session with music so loud it can be heard in Dubrovnik and drives people from the pool area in droves there is one table tennis table, one tennis court, one boule court for 500 guests otherwise there is nothing to do . The indoor pool area was flooded so the steam room and sauna attached to the gym were not working. There is absolutely no thought for disabled clients, the sea, pools and restaurants would not be accessible to them, even young couples with pushchairs struggled in some parts of the hotel
Milna the nearest town is accessible by the hotels chargeable mini bus shuttle which only holds 8 people. Milna boasts a few restaurants and fewer shops if and when they are open and takes all of 20 minutes to walk to the end of the harbour and back again
The final insult to an extremely disappointing holiday was to be charged 30 euros for the hire of two tatty beach towels – hardly fully inclusive, we will not be going on a Jet2 inclusive holiday ever again
PS. Take your own tea bags, no English breakfast tea available

We had a relatively good deal for our stay so didn’t find the need to complain at the time however had I paid a penny more I would not have been happy. And my complaint could not have been fixed in the short time we were there.

The setting of the hotel is beautiful from the pool , no disputing that and our forest lodge was lovely and clean. But that’s where any positives end.

On check in we were advised that beach towels were 20 Euros EACH, with 5 euros given back at the end of the holiday. Never have I been on an all inclusive holiday where beach towels are not included. I had no prior emails to state this on booking or on any confirmation. I aired my grievances and thankfully the receptionist agreed to give me towels for the week. 100 Euros was completely unacceptable in my opinion.

The workers were clearly exhausted by the end of a long season as could barely crack a smile apart from a small few. There was absolutely no service around the pool during the day, nobody clearing glasses or plates, or wiping tables etc. There was constantly sticky residue from the sweet drinks and coffee splashes over the tables near the sun beds. And constant queues for drinks, there was only one bar serving the entire resort in the evening. And the lady working in the on site shop was beyond rude.

The food and drink was the worst part of it all. By day two I couldn’t take any more of the cold , curled up edges on the food and we hired a car to escape and go to local towns outside fo the resort. It seemed that food left over from breakfast or lunch was turned in to left overs for dinner. We ended up eating dinner out for the rest of the week (added expense) and ate chips when at the hotel.

They appeared to be a lack of management, no Maitr’ D in the restaurant to seat people or take charge of anything, no body asking how things were etc.

If you want a no frills break with not much to do in the area then this if for you. It’s a shame as the has a lot of potential and we have been to other Croatian Islands which have been outstanding.

Stayed here as a couple Sept 21. First impression were fantastic, check in a breeze, we were in one of the forest cabins and it was peaceful, clean and spacious. Were not sun worshippers so didn't use the pool however whatever time of day there were plenty of sun beds should we have needed them around any of the 3 clean pools. We use the waters port facilities on the bay which were free and a great bonus. The AI drinks were OK, what you would expect from an AI package holiday. The weather was great in September and no rain and hardly any cloud. We visited Milna a couple of times, walked down and got a taxi back however after reading these reviews learned that the hotel offer a free shuttle bus although we were not made aware which is frustrating. Also went to Bol which was a nice day out and worty a visit.
Now for the areas that need improving!
The food was nearly always cold unless you had the pizza, this was freshly made and hot but after a few days you want something different especially when that's dinner, snack and evening choice. Some evenings they had gammon, pork or lamb on the carvery which were the better evening meals although the potatoes were great there were no vegetables even though they had them at breakfast bizarrely.
I'm not a fussy eater and although I always found something to fill me up the standard really lacks, firstly it needs to be at least warm or even hot when served, this was the same at breakfast with freezing cold fried eggs. Breakfast I didnt expect a full English but only twice were pastries available and only croissants, if you want toast you need to allow 30 mins to lightly tan your bread with the one toaster that only has one element working, the first day we asked for butter, I would have expected sachets but they have it to select off a block, this been when we found it after a few days, having asked a lady on the first day for butter to be brought a spoon.
Afternoon snacks were great, sandwiches and pizza usually or onion rings which were always greatly appreciated.
The housekeeping staff although always pleasant weren't the best, we don't create much mess and half the time we were here we declined the service, however on the days they visited our room, although towels changed and bathroom floor mopped, Ash trays not emptied, bed not made even though we hadn't left a mess, floor not swept, glasses not removed.
Overall, location quiet but 4/5, with 5* scenery, staff 4/5 with note to great bar staff, facilities 4/5, sadly let down by food 2/5.
