Hotel, surrounding with pool and restaurant very beautiful. Food OK. Very friendly staff. On our last evening at the restaurant I left a small armless west hanging on my chair. Before our departure the following morning I did not notice the loss. The staff of the restaurant could have contacted as by our table reservation, but they did not even try. Two days later we phoned and the hotel told us they had found my vest and would send it via a transport company, which would send us an estimate of the transport costs. After a few days I received this estimate, but when I called them they told me, that they could not pick up my vest at the hotel because there it got lost again. When I called the hotel, they confirmed this. After another week the reception called again said they had no success with my vest. They offered me a voucher, which I declined. Never in my life will I visit this hotel once more, because the only explanation for the loss of my vest is that somebody stole it.

I've read many reviews and I do agree most of them. The place has one single main problem: its aging. If they renew it as the pool is then it will be great. Rooms are big, the location in front of the sea is excellent, the service is quite attentive and they have a reasonably priced good restaurant. Yes, they should remove or renew the carpets, the furnitures too etc but the base is good so it can become a very convenient hotel once this is fixed.

My understanding of the expression "Grand Hotel" was seriously challenged when staying here. This hotel needs a serious overhaul because it has aged and not to its best. The carpet in our room was in a way that we did not dare walking around without the flippers. Discussing with other guests it looks like we were not the only ones finding the floor covering close to disgusting. The breakfast buffet was somewhat ok but far from what one expects from a Grand Hotel. In the country famous for its cheeses, they offered ONE which was sort of the type that is produced industrially in square-yard size and then cut into 3 to 6" pieces. As for the coffee machines you have to operate yourself: chose a normal coffee and then add an espresso otherwise you can't drink it. The sole dinner we had in their restaurant was on the other hand of very good quality. The location is good with direct access to the beach. Service is a bit spotty, some good, some bad, mostly average. There is no spirit of hospitality in that place, unfortunately. As to the Thallasso part: it's well conceived but a factory. On a usual Friday there were dozens of used bath towels spread all over incl. resting chairs and nobody collected them.

It's very dated. Which - I can accept if it's clean at least - Alas It wasn't. Cleaner had left the room without finishing. Used soap in tray, used shower gel and shampoo in bathroom, bin on countertop. Overall room dirty with hairs etc. Gym - beyond awful. You could grow tomatoes in there it's so hot. The AC barely functions and they have a crap rickety fan to use with 2 extension cables randomly linking it to a socked.. NO water cooler or bottles of water. Tap and sink outside the gym with lukewarm water more suited to washing hands. At door to outside / beach access, no hose or tap to wash of sand. Canet has a nice beach but soulless town. Would not return. Sorry. Needs a complete refurb. I fed this back to staff in person. OH - and coffee machine in room broken....and I paid €400 for a suite. Hmmm

Response from MrLormand, General Manager at Grand Hotel des Flamants Roses
Responded 11 Jul 2019
Dear Sir, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your impressions further to your stay in our property. I am very sorry to read that your experience didn't meet your expectations and especially about your remarks concerning the cleaning of your room. I immediately transferred these remarks to the housekeeping service in order to prevent any reoccurence. Concerning the temperature of the gym, our gym is equipped with air conditioning. During your stay we encountered an extraordinary heatwave in our region with temperature growing up until 42 degrees. That is the reason why even with air conditioning unfortunately the room temperature was higher than normally. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, we would be very happy to welcome you back to our establishment and to show you a great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Kind regards, Yulia Coeuret – Reservations Manager
