The sites are spacious are a concrete pad. However, everything else is dusty. It was windy while we were there and even our clothes inside the Motorhome got dusty. The temperatures varied greatly from being chilly and needing jackets at night to hot during the day. The residents were all respectful of the resorts request to turn off bright lights at night in order to see the stars. Most people including us, were there for at least a week because there are so many things to see in the surrounding area. The clubhouse is nice, with a big gathering room and a tv. The bathrooms are clean, however I found it odd that there was no bench in the shower for clothes. The pool was too cold to get in and, extremely slippery. There was a sign to that extent, but I would not have felt safe with such slick steps. That needs to be corrected. There is a general store for fresh made sandwiches, but a limited supply of groceries. The office will make change for doing laundry, which is in the clubhouse.

Just completed a week stay. Wonderful place. Surrounded somewhat by Big Bend State Park, which has almost a better view on the drive to Presidio than the Nat’l. Park, plus several great trails. Several good trails connect to the RV Park and easy access for zip lining. Immaculate bathroom and shower facilities and really impressed by the $2 wash/dry machines. Laundry clean and machines worked great. Warm enough a couple of days for us to enjoy the pool. Good size and nice visiting while swimming. Sign up for the text feature to be kept in the loop regarding park announcements and weather updates. The sites were great as far as we were concerned. Have to remember this is west Texas and the desert. Some “luxury” details are not cost effective. Our site was relatively level and we like the setup with back to back hookups and 2 RVs sharing a large common area. Very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our neighbors. Sites are varied between Premium, Luxury, and Standard. Some have fiber, others just the WiFi. Again, understand you are in a remote area of Texas. We were outside a great deal and didn’t watch as much TV, so connection was fine for us, even though slow at times. It’s all good, we just read a book if too bad. This is a great place to stay with easy access to the state park and the national park a short drive. You have access to everything at the golf resort. Come take a walk back in time and imagine the western frontier days. Enjoy your stay. We will be back. 🤗❤️

We just spent a week at Maverick Ranch RV Park. We were in site #9 which afforded us a fine view of the Mesa behind the park. There are several trails that begin behind the park and we had a blast walking among the hills with our dog. We also did the “picnic table” trail. It was about 4 miles total from the park to the picnic table from which you could see the whole area. Good hike. It’s so quiet back there - you could hear a pin drop. Very peaceful. We drove to Big Bend NP twice. The first day we did the Lost Mine Trail (5 miles total). It was a good hike with beautiful views from the top. The second day we hiked to Santa Elena Canyon. Very cool. The canyon is split by the Rio Grande so you are within a few feet of Mexico. Both trailheads were about a one hour drive from the RV park. The drive itself is gorgeous so it goes quickly. Another day, we made a right turn out of the park and hiked 2 trails in Big Bend Ranch State Park. We did Closed Canyon trail, which was 20 miles from the RV park, and the Hoodoo Trail, which is 2-3 more miles down the road. We did a lot of rock scrambling on both trails which was so much fun. We sat on top of a hoodoo and had lunch overlooking the Rio Grande. We played golf at the resort one day. Gorgeous course. Well worth the $$$. We ate at the restaurant at the resort for lunch one day and we had pizza from the bakery/pizzeria another day. Both were very good. Be advised that none of the sites have cable; they did away with it at the beginning of this year. That was really our only disappointment in the park. Other than that, it was fine. Very dusty, but that’s to be expected in west Texas. We had very little interaction with staff. The first day, our pedestal didn’t work and a nice man named Dwayne came and replaced the receptacle and the breaker. The area is beautiful and we would come back again.

Maverick Ranch is about the only place on the western side of Big Bend where we could park our 40' RV. The surface is gravel and it tends to get either dusty or muddy. Our dogs enjoyed the dog park and the surrounding walking area, too. We were there in pre-vaccine times so we didn't use any of the amenities. An old cemetery outside the gate is worth a look and the star gazing at night can't be any better.
