Also excellent value for money, A greeting to Mrs. Tiziana. I'll see you again.
We are not normally to be found staying for that length of time in one hotel: we tend to move after one or two nights but walking in the VAl de Gardena didn't lend itself to that sort of holiday. We were told about some of the best walks to do but the best advice was to use the local, and very regular and punctual bus, for free for guests in hotels in the area. We used our hire car once in the eight days!! We even went to Bolzano by bus on a rainy day.
We had booked in on a bed and breakfast basis but for the first night, for ease, we thought we'd try the hotel's restaurant menu at 25euros a head. I have to say the antipasti buffet was delicious, immense, and thoroughly enjoyed as was the rest of that day's menu. So much so that there were only two nights when we didn't eat in the hotel. It is a very popular thing to do by most of its guests. The food is fresh and of excellent quality.
The breakfast buffet is also very good too.
We only used the pool once on a wet Sunday afternoon but that, like everything about this hotel, has been built to a very high standard.
Of an evening we enjoyed a drink looking at the fab view before dinner.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
P.S. We were in room 210 which was a great size with a large balcony, sofa and very comfy bed and a great view. We did ask for a top sheet as the duvet was too warm for the weather and this we were given without a problem.
Liked everything. We had a huge room with a large balcony (though shared by 3 rooms, but that didn’t bother us) and a stunning view of Ortisei and the Alps (room 105). We even managed to see twice how the mountains at sunset change their color and become pink and gold (enrosadir effect). The room had everything you needed and even more, including a very comfortable bed, sofa, coffee table, armchairs, etc. The SPA is wonderful. How great it is, after long hikes in the mountains, to plunge into a warm pool (it was +8 degrees outside) overlooking the same wonderful mountains, or relax in a jacuzzi or in an alpine sauna. Wonderful breakfasts with a rich buffet and a choice of egg dishes. You can write a separate story about the dinners, but I’ll just say: everything was not just delicious, but very tasty and varied, for which many thanks to the chef and all the service staff. And lastly, during the 5 days we spent there, we never used the car once, since the hotel provides a free bus pass that stops right at the hotel door. I don't understand why this hotel only has 3 stars, it deserves much more. I can only say one thing - I highly recommend this hotel to those who are traveling to the Ortisei area
Our room (Superior) was really large and very quiet, even though our floor was full, we never heard our neighbors. A dream bathroom, despite the cold outside the room was always warm. The common areas are always super clean, well heated and tidy, never anything out of place.
The indoor pool is connected to the outdoor one via a sliding door and is a real gem, it's truly magical to swim in the pool with water at an ideal temperature while it's snowing outside. In the wellness area you will always find clean towels at your disposal, but let's move on to the catering.
Breakfast is a buffet and you will find absolutely everything, from classic croissants to homemade cakes, I would like to point out the lemon one which is spectacular, we also find really delicious homemade jams, but there is also a vast choice of savory options.
At breakfast we choose the dishes that we will then eat for dinner, we have 2 choices of first courses and 2 choices of second courses available, desserts included, drinks are separate, we have always taken the house wine, we tried the Lagrein and the Gewurztraminer , really excellent, even at dinner we find a vast choice of hot and cold appetizers buffet style. The cuisine is truly excellent, there wasn't a single course that didn't satisfy us.
In front of the hotel there is a bus stop. At the reception we will be given weekly bus tickets, getting around will be very simple thanks to the hotel app which will show us the bus timetables, in 10 minutes you are in the center of Ortisei.
In short, it was a 5-star holiday also thanks to the courtesy, care and availability of all the staff, we had such a good time that we will return in the summer too and I also convinced my sister and brother-in-law to book in this hotel. We can't wait to return.
I would guess the drive here in winter, or when temps drop & ice could form, would be a bit dicey (was predicted to snow day we left, so we left early to have good roads … you are elevated, so temps cooler here) so factor that in if you are a nervous driver.
Activities we did were out of Ortisei so we did have to drive into town and park there.
"the rooms are all very nice, but the rooms at the back of the hotel have the most impressive views."Read full review
