Staying at Hotel Fortuna was an absolute delight. The location is perfect (several minutes walk from the center of town, roughly in the middle of the three chairlifts), with a great view from my room’s balcony. The hospitality was impeccable, and all the staff were extremely helpful. The morning buffet breakfast was great. I’ll note that my solo room was fairly small–can’t imagine why that’d be an issue for most folks (not the sort of place you’d spend a lot of time in the hotel room), and the bed and bathroom were both fair sized, there just wasn’t much floor space, if that matters to you. (If you need somewhere to sit, the balcony was perfectly nice as well).
And as a first time visitor to Val Gardena, I absolutely loved it. I had 4 full days, and basically only hiked (so I can’t vouch for the other activities in the area), but each hike was spectacular. If you want easy and beautiful day hiking while staying at a hotel, this destination is perfect.

We spent a week at this hotel and can only echo most of the other reviews.
The location is 5 minutes walk from the town and maybe 10 minutes from both major lifts even with ski gear.
The hotel is small but comfortable and we were welcomed warmly by Rita who was on hand all week to help with any questions.
The breakfast was a typical European selection of cereals, yoghurts, breads and cold meats. All very good quality.
The rooms are comfortable and exceptionally clean as is the whole hotel.
No hesitation at all in recommending this hotel.

When you enter the Fortuna Hotel you know you are in the Dolomites. The room 42 was very typical of a Tyrolean Chalet, lots of pine and when you open the door to the balcony you have a jaw dropping view of the mountain side and cable cars. Every amenity was provided and in the morning the breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choice and all looked after by the helpful and jovial Rita even with the language barrier. Very convenient, 5 minutes walk to town. A great choice.

The staff was very welcoming and they were prepared for our visit. The family was available to answer questions about the bus service, the local spa, the lifts, hiking, etc. The room comfortably accommodated three adults. Everything was very clean and in order. The breakfast had great variety and many diet options. Would love to stay here again!

We had a wonderful time during our stay here!! Clean, easy to find, helpful staff, beautiful views, great breakfast, easy access to Saceda and Aple di Suisse!
Staff were so helpful with my questions about navigating the bus as well as letting us leave our things in a safe spot after checkout so we could explore a little more before we left. 5min walk from the bus station, to the main area in town, as well as the lifts to the 2 hikes mentioned above. Was quaint, something out of a fairy tale, we loved it! I read somewhere in our initial research to find a hotel that they had laundry-they do not, just want to clarify not complain :)

Last minute trip for a couple. This was one of the last affordable options still available for our dates. Overall we were very happy with our stay.
Short 5min walk to town, and the lifts were right there.
Note: The roof sloped directly above the bathtub in our room (I think room #33) making it impossible to stand up and shower. (The Showerhead was mounted below chest hight). I dont know if this is common in other rooms or just the one we were at (I think we booked one of the last rooms available is it was a last minute trip. We weren't fussed enough about it to mention to the staff, but guests should be aware that this exists.

I stayed here for four nights in July. The room was very comfortable and equipped. It was a great place to stay while going out hiking every day. What made this day exceptional was Rita. She doesn’t speak English and I don’t speak Italian but we managed to communicate well enough that she took care of everything that I needed. She went out of her way to make sure I had breakfast even on the mornings I left before the dining room opened. Sometimes it’s the people that make a place special.

Convenient location with easy walk to shops/restaurants/funi, comfortable rooms, good breakfast, and a beautiful view from our room. Staff are very nice and helpful. Don't forget to get the bus/train passes from front desk. It allows you to travel for free throughout South Tyrol. When we left Ortisei, six of us took bus/trains all the way to Innsbruck for no charge!
