This is the coolest hotel that we have visited for quite some time! Just outside the heart of Ortisei it has an ideal location of being conveniently located but away from the crowds. Best to drive and they have their own covered carpark. Rooms are enchanting and the staff are all super nice. We got the suite with it's own hot-tub which was a special treat.

First time in the much renowned Ortisei, my partner and I choose to pamper ourselves in this structure, the choice has never been more appropriate!
But first things first, efficient and helpful reception, well organized room led by Maitre Luisa, always smiling and professional, breakfasts and dinners with attention to detail and never banal....
Bar room attended by the smile and availability of the Bartender...
The icing on the cake is the Spa where you forget and let thoughts and tensions go away, thanks above all to the massages of the smiling and professional Spa manager Anna....
We will return home fully satisfied!
Thank you Montchalet team.

My husband and I had the most amazing 4 nights at this small luxury boutique hotel and can not recommend it enough for anyone looking for a base for their stay in the Dolomites. First of all the staff at the hotel are amazing, Sara at the front desk was so helpful and knowledgeable with giving us all sorts of recommendations including restaurants and hikes and answering all of our questions.
Our room at the hotel was large and extremely comfortable. Yes there was no AC but it was perfect to sleep with the windows open and have the lovely fresh mountain air keep us cool at night, the hotel did offer us a portable AC when we asked but we choose to have the windows open instead.
We used the free shuttle service to get dropped into town a couple of times which was a nice touch and they even dropped us at the neighboring village one evening. Saying that the hotel is close enough to center of Ortisei to walk even if it is up hill on the way back.
We didn’t eat at the hotel in the evenings but the breakfast each morning was delicious with lots of options and the staff were great as well.
Overall a fantastic stay and a lovely hotel!

Is a beautifully 5* arranged hotel.
The staff is very friendly and kind.
We chose this hotel for the private spa option and because it has two gourmet restaurants
The private spa of the apartment was very useful considering that the public one is ''free textila'' and is really small.
The disappointing thing was the food and for that we rated average this hotel.
A gourmet restaurant involves two very important aspects for food: taste and design.
The taste of the food was actually fad, with nothing special without any taste pleasure. We eat very often in the gourmet restaurant just to have the excitement of a special taste but here these things did not happen.
We ate here three dinner and breakfast (including the new year) after which I gave up eating at the hotel restaurant even though dinner and breakfast were paid for the entire stay (eight nights)
Breakfast was banal, very poor in variety and it was definitely not what we expected at a 5 * hotel.
Regarding the New Year's Eve dinner, leaving aside the food, atmosphere was like in a kindergarten
As a conclusion I can say that it is a 5 * hotel but not if you have food demands

Let me start with the strong points: the small hotel is beautiful, it looks great from the outside, the bar has a coolness to it, the pool is gorgeous, the spa is of a high standard and the room that we stayed in was also very pleasant, with a jacuzzi outside and a sauna and haman. The beds are good, nice big tv. Everything you expect from a luxury boutique 5 star hotel. Lastly, the staff is very helpful and kind always with a smile. Particularly the drivers that bring you to the ski lifts and the sommelier are very attentive.
Then the points that unfortunately drive my overall impression:
First and foremost the food is very average, the breakfast is limited in choice and for an inclusive half board to have to pay 10 euros for avocado, no home-made jam, limited selection and variety of bread is below my expectations, especially as this hotel is quite pricy. The dinner is very disappointing in choice, variety and quality. We were there on new years eve and didn’t want to join the 300 Euro extra charge per person for a long sit, but preferred to do our own thing. Consequently, we were charged for the burger we asked for, which was added to the bill (despite our half board). The charge was only reversed after we asked. We didn’t feel particularly welcome on that evening. Then the bar man told us on the first day that we couldn’t play cards, because if someone cool would come in and order a 1000 Euro bottle of champagne they wouldn’t appreciate us guests playing cards in the bar. I found it hard to overcome my first impression of the staff at the bar, even though the rest of the stay they were very pleasant.
So summarizing, despite the pleasant staff and the beauty of the hotel we didn’t really feel very welcomed and I find the price not in balance with what is offered, particularly the food.

I really do not recommend the Montchalet hotel which is anything but a 5-star hotel: our suite (like most suites) had an unacceptable view of the chalet next door (view over their living room and dining room and vice versa). ) as well as on the other suites. This is why the photos showed the suites with opaque curtains (!). The welcome was anything but warm (especially the people in the restaurant who were particularly unpleasant). The food (breakfast and dinner) was average. Avoid being fooled and definitely don't go there.

A perfect place for quiet exquisite rest, relaxation and simple pleasures. Ideal location (not too far from center, not too close to crowdy places).

The service is excellent, we never had a chance to complain or have any concerns. All our wishes and needs were fully satisfied.

We stayed in VIP suite with its terrace facing the forest, it was a true window to the nature and deers were coming to eat the grass.

The food is really nice and the wine selection is very pleasantly surprising!

Many thanks to Laurent, Sarah, Chiara and the whole team at Montchalet who made our staying there so pleasant! We definitely would like to come back!

I spent 5 days at the Hotel Montchalet and had a very beautiful staying. The room is spacious and full of light.
The restaurant was also very good and the staff was friendly and kind.

What I liked the most is the expertise and kindness of the SPA manager (Anna): she gave me one of the best massages I ever had, was able to relax my shoulders as none before and was very professional in giving me advices on my beauty routine. Highly highly recommended!!

I must say that it was a long time since we found such a high level structure and staff.
We booked a day before so without knowing where we would end up and I must say that better could hardly happen to us.
The availability of all the collaborators left us speechless, we stayed von our two poodles who were initially a bit confused, Ms. LUISA put us at ease making us dine and have breakfast in their exclusive restaurant.
Structure really up to itsb5 stars our room a VIP Suite that gave in the woods made us enjoy every afternoon of a family of roe deer who came to eat in front of our terrace.
Impeccable service of the head barman Giampaoolo who spoiled us with his delicious Cocktail and he his precautions.
Definitely this winter we will return.
Really recommended!!!!

We stayed here with our family and had 3 suites. The property is nice and most of the staff are great. The issue we had was when our grown daughter and her husband had problems with the air conditioning and their suite not getting cold. They called the front desk and the staff attempted to fix the problem and gave them portable units. The portable units did an insufficient job cooling the place. The following morning our daughter went downstairs to the front desk to discuss what could be done, and immediately out of the back room a woman walked out SCREAMING at them! She said she was the manager, and would not let them speak. The worst part of the ordeal was that we found out that she WAS THE OWNER, so we know there will be no action taken to correct this abusive behavior. The only reason we did not give a worse review was that the staff apologized for her behavior and one staff member commented that they had never seen anything like this in all their years in the hospitality industry. Our family vacation to this supposed 5 star hotel went from something we all cherished as a family to one of disappointment. I should never in good conscience recommend a hotel/resort where the owner is mean and abusive to guests. Bottom line is it’s impossible to fire the owner, and therefore we will never return!
