I cannot praise this place enough... it really is a diamond! We travelled here in August with my husband's family and my 6 year old daughter. The welcome we got was fantastic. Salvatore, Grazia and family are the loveliest people. Our daughter was treated like a princess. The rooms are clean, and a good size with a balcony. The gardens are a very relaxing place to go after a day on the beach, and we often ate outside when the weather was good. The beach is very close - only a 5-10 min walk. One tip is to pre book a cafe/ restaurant for lunch if you are wanting to dine on the promenade. We were there for Ferragosto week, so it was very busy, but we learned after a couple of days that to guarantee a table it was best to book in advance. And saving the best until last - every day I looked forward to the evening meal. It really is an experience and a huge part of what made this holiday so good. Sebastiano's dishes would not look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. 4 courses, although you can pick and chose in advance if you want it all. Nothing is too much trouble and they even modified a couple of the dishes for us. Missing this place so much already and can't wait to go back!

The Fortunella is a small family run hotel. The service provided is extraordinary and equal to anything that many larger hotels provide in our many years of travel. This is run by Brother and sister, Grazia and Salvatore, and they care deeply that you enjoy your whole holiday experience and are always available to provide advice upon the many places to visit. The friendly atmosphere created by the family and staff at the Fortunella extended to fellow guests and we all on an evening spent quite some time exchanging information about sites to visit. This one evening lead on to Salvatore even arranging a taxi for 8 of us to have a trip to Florence, that saved us the rigmarole, of numerous bus and train journeys. I can not fault them and thank them enough!! The local buses are however easy to use and not too expensive. The bus stop is only a few minutes walk away and you can get the tickets at the Tabacci for your visit to Lucca and Pisa plus various nearby villages and towns. Breakfast is the usual continental offerings with scrambled eggs and bacon but other eggs are also available. The evening meals served are traditional Italian such as various pastas , risotto, homemade soups plus fish and meat dishes. The portions may not be large for some, but were more than adequate when your having 4 courses This is definitely a hotel that we will try to go back to we can’t thank them enough for such a memorable and happy stay , Grazie mille

The Fortunella is a small family run hotel. The service provided is extraordinary and equal to anything that I have experienced in many years of travel. Brother and sister, Grazia and Salvatore, care deeply that you enjoy your whole holiday experience and are always available to provide advice upon the many places to visits. Most previous reviews comment about the evening meal. At the end of the day, there is a genuine sense of anticipation prior to dinner, which never disappoints. The hotel is ideally located for the beach, less than five minutes walk away and for excursions. There is a small free public beach, but for the most part the beach is privately operated with sun beds, umbrellas and changing facilities for hire. The beach is backed by numerous restaurants for food and drink and a wide promenade where there are various shops. From the nearby bus stop, you can visit Lucca ( a must) and Pisa plus various nearby villages and towns. It is a short bus journey to the train station at Viareggio for visit to Florence by rail. Buses run to time and are not over crowded. During our stay, the friendly atmosphere created by the family and staff at the Fortunella extended to fellow guests who readily exchanged information about sites to visit etc.

We have just returned from a lovely week at the Hotel Fortunella. The hotel is small and family run. The owners and staff are very helpful and as a package offers value for money. The meals served are traditional Italian favourites such as various pastas , risotto, homemade soups plus fish and meat dishes. Breakfast is the usual continental offerings with eggs and bacon also available. The hotel is ideally placed for trips to explore the area eg Pisa and Lucca. The local bus network is easy to use and not too expensive.

This is without a dowt the best value for money hotel I have stayed in,the rooms are spotless and are cleaned daily with new towels etc.The food at this place is the best that I have had at any hotel that I stayed at.Salvatore and his sister Gracie are proberly the most helpful and nicest people I have met that run a hotel. All the staff and their mother especially where 100%.The mothers baking is out of this world. Getting back to the food definitely 5*.If you want to go to Tuscany and stay by the sea this is the only place to stay.We went wither anther 2couples and they all say the same. This is the second time my wife and I have stayed and will definitely be back.

Stayed for a week at Hotel Fortunella. which is a pleasant hotel on a side road, five minutes from the promenade. The hotel is clean and the staff are polite. There is a small garden to the rear with tables and chairs and a few loungers. Each room has a free safe but wifi is 5 euros per day. There no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms but they do have a fridge. The food was beautifully presented and some of it was very nice, however you would struggle if you were vegetarian. Wine with the meal starts from 19 euros and a jug of water is 2 euros. Mealtimes are a little inflexible, with dinner being 7.30pm each evening. It's a good base to visit Pisa and Lucca and it's possible to take the train to Florence from the nearby small town. Staff at the hotel are good at helping to plan trips. The wide prom is a few minutes walk away and there are plenty of places to eat and drink there. The downside is that the cafes completely hide the beach from view when strolling on the prom. The beaches are private, with a public part at the very end and I imagine they would be horribly crowded in the height of the season judging by the endless rows of sunbeds.

Superb family run hotel with very friendly and helpful staff - ideally located, great food and lovely rooms. Garden at rear with balconies to front to maximize sunshine opportunities throughout the day but full electric blackout blinds so solid nights sleep guaranteed every night in modern and clean rooms. Very helpful practical advice provided by Salvatore and his team allowing us to make the most out of our week to visit a range of beautiful locations nearby.

We arrived at the Hotel on Friday 9/9/22 for a 7 day stay and what a pleasure the whole experience was. The Service and Hospitality was exceptional and the Staff were Friendly and very Efficient. We had a very warm welcome from Salvatore who runs the Hotel with his Sister. The Food was all home cooking and full of flavor, the Evening meal was 4 courses in all with great service. There is a Lounge Bar and an outside Garden where you can have a pre Dinner drink where they serve Cocktails, Wine, Spirits and Draught Beer. The rooms are of a good size with a large wardrobe and plenty of Draw space and also a Balcony. Bed linen and towels are changed regularly and rooms cleaned daily, everywhere is spotlessly clean. The local shop is a few minutes walk away, where you can get your Bus Tickets, Water etc. The Resort has a large clean Promenade which stretches in both direction’s and has plenty of Cafes and Restaurants. The location is ideal for trips to, Lucca, Pisa and Florence, by Bus or Train and also Piestrasanta which is only a 15 minute bus ride away. I would Highly Recommend the Hotel Fortunella it’s an absolute Gem. John Austin.

First of all my wife and I booked half board based on the food reviews we read. We certainly was not disappointed the breakfast and 4 course dinner was amazing the 6 nights we stayed here. We received the warmest of welcome from Salvatore and his family and staff. The service and hospitality exceeded our expectation. The room was very comfortable and cleaned and serviced daily. In fact the entire hotel was spotlessly cleaned and maintained throughout. The location of the hotel is excellent being minutes away from the beach and lovely promenade full of cafes and restaurants. It is an ideal base for visiting the surrounding resorts. Transport buses and trains are plentiful and cheap and very reliable. We have no hesitation recommending this hotel and hope to visit again in the near cure. We booked this hotel just before covid but could not travel. Salvatore held on to our booking and we finally arrived 2-3 years after. Well worth the wait. Tony and Pat
