The Hotel Col Alto is one of the most traditional hotels in Corvara, the main village of Alta Badia. The hotel has been recently renovated merging local materials and alpine-style warmth with a new linear design. The public areas like the new lobby with fire place, the hotel bar, the cigar lounge and the Iceberg lounge bar all feature warm Alpine-style furnishings. The Hotel Col Alto offers a wide range of rooms and suites that have breathtaking views on the nature and the mountains that surround Corvara. The gourmet restaurant offers quality Italian cuisine and regional gastronomic specialties made with local products. The Hotel Col Alto also distinguishes itself for the beautiful indoor swimming pool with view on the mountains and the large Wellness Center of approximately 1,000 sq. meters which includes among others: a Turkish bath, a tepidarium, a Finnish sauna, an aromatic herbs bath, a sea salt steam grotto, a hydro-massage footbath , an ice fountain, a gym, a solarium and a wide offer of massages and wellness treatments.

* Staff is professional and very friendly
* Bar is kept with style, bar tender friendly with lots of class. Very nice atmosphere with open fire, and comfy woolen clad sofas. We enjoyed staying before and after dinner. Live band every evening until 10/10.30ish.
* nice interior contemporary mountain modern design. The building material that were used were of (very) high quality. They made it to last and to resist wear and tear.
* Quality food with varied menus with several different choices every day to suit all taste from regional to sophisticated. Happy to accommodate specific dietary requirement. Area of improvement is seafood dishes. Excellent deserts and ice creams.
* Wine list is excellent, honestly priced, somelier provides good advice to discover the good wines from Alta Badia
* plenty of choice for breakfast
* shuttle service to/from the ski slopes is efficient, staff friendly and helping.
*Rooms are large same as bathrooms. Advise to upgrade to superior rooms, plenty of space to store bulky ski gears.
* Matresses, bedsheets and duvet of high quality
* Hotel/rooms are very clean
*Owners are present most of the time as in most of the hotels in the area, a guarantee of good service
*Play room was great for the kid (also clean)
* Spa is decent, clean and well kept.
* My wife took several massages and they were of high quality.
* Very pleasant to have heated floor in the room. Although room temperature was a bit high to our liking and we had to open the windows. Our room was street side.
* Concept of the family room is great, better than the usual interconnected rooms you'll find in most hotels

Area of improvement is the corridor leading to spa. Not renovated yet and the Iceberg lounge which at time can be noisy late evening.

An address I defenitely recommend in Corvara.
Our family has great moments.

I wanted to stay here for a few years based upon the reviews and feedback from a colleague.
The hotel is very good, just not as good as I was expecting. The reasons were that the hotel wasn’t walking distance to the lifts, it’s a short minibus ride. It is possible to ski all the way back to the hotel using the run from L’Murin that runs parallel to the road. The spa treatments were not of a high standard and people sat using their phones in the ‘quiet’ relaxation room. And the food quality was quite mixed from very good to a few awful dishes. Breakfast, however, was consistently very good.
Our bedroom was excellent, spacious, newly refurbished, and very quiet with a super comfortable bed and good wifi. Some drawers would be nice, and I’d suggest not replacing towels etc as often given your environmental credentials. Service overall was excellent and colleagues such as Enrico, Eileen and Maria were great.

Just returned from a week,s skiing staying in the wonderful Col Alto.
Last year we had a family celebration in the hotel and had a brilliant time so on the strength of that decided to return again this year.
It was every bit as good as last time, possibly better, helped by the amazing weather we had for the whole week. Blue skies and great snow! Perfect.
Rooms are beautiful, comfy beds, extremely clean, maybe sometimes a little warm!
The food is plentiful and of very good quality, beautifully presented, lots of choice and the restaurant staff are very efficient, knowledgeable and attentive.
Good lockable ski lockers, ski room can get busy but still plenty of room. Brilliant ski bus service taking you to and from the lifts, morning and afternoon. It is possible to ski directly back to the hotel, little scratchy in places but perfectly do able if you don’t want to wait for the bus.
We were made to feel very welcome by everyone and won,t hesitate to visit again. Thank you everyone at the Col Alto!!

We booked as a large group and most of us were lucky with our room. The annexe across the road is where the quiet rooms are ,although it is a hike to get back and forth to the restaurant and the boot room each day. Our daughter was unlucky and got a room low down in the main part of the hotel . it was a time when they had a noisy singer in the bar running until midnight and then 11pm on successive nights, so if you want to go to sleep before 10.30 so you can get up early for skiing you the loud music from the bar coming up the stairs and along the corridoor and then an hour after the music stops the drunken or excited guests shoud a slow goodnight to each other while they stand on the stairs near your room . She was doubly unlucky in that the heating in her room was on 'super tropiccal ' and couldn't be switched off . When the maintenance guy came to fix it he first said she only had to turn it off, then failed to be able to turn it off himself and finally ,after four days of ridiculous heat and noise the management finally agreed to allocate a room on the fourth floor , so three good nights sleep at the end .

We can cope well with problems and most good managers in the hotels can apologise briefly m sort the problem or just move you and we end up loving them despite the problems . In Col Alto the desk staff were always lovely but always said that they could not do anything without agreeing it with the owners (who never seemed to be on site and meant that nothing happens for days ) . The staff on site are just not empowered and nice words are not much use .When we checked out i did meet one of the family/owners at last and he just denied that we reported the heating shambles early enough and he said that noise was common at this time of the year as Russian guests like to party..... I won't bore you with the minor details but we were given two bottles of wine that you could buy for 10 euros each in the bar and basically told that the hotel was fast and responsive and it was basically our fault etc . I am sure they will reply to this feedback with a repeat that normal guests like baking hot rooms ,that we said nothing until the end or other travesties of the facts .

I don't blame the nice staff from being defensive with the owners as the guy i spoke to was determined to just attack us gently and defend a refund .

enough of that subject - the food was variable and not up to the standard we ate in mountain restaurants , the spa was good , most staff were lovely and professional , the iceberg bar was fantastic and we loved the two bartenders who worked there.

If you have to book this hotel i would advise you to insist on high rooms and don't accept anything close to the stairwell in the main lobby - and cross your fingers you don't have a problem

We’ve just returned from 6 great days at this hotel, and would highly recommend it. We had a superior room, which was very comfortable and spacious. We booked half board as we weren’t sure what restaurants would be open, and were glad we had as the food was very good both for dinner and breakfast. We were pleased that breakfast and starters at dinner were still buffet-style. We also appreciated the leisure facilities, the friendly staff and the central location. And we got a great deal by booking directly with the hotel.

Whilst the hotel felt safe from a covid-19 perspective, none of the measures were ‘in your face’ and it all felt relatively normal.

Superb hotel in Corvara. Two buildings with access underground across structures.

The dining room offers a superb breakfast, the quality of the bread and even the omelette were ridiculously fresh and lights up the taste buds. Meals at dinner are very good and change every day. Was with a group of skiers and riders from the US for the week.

The guest service provided by the staff is attentive, intelligent, pragmatic, and gracious.

Lobby bar is very good, good bartenders. Had lovely confabs with fellow skiers from the US and also others from other points in Europe. For the nightlife oriented there is the Iceberg Bar in the hotel right off the lobby.

Ski lockers are in the basement which opens out into hotel shuttle pickup area Spacious lockers with boot heaters. Hotel shuttle service takes one to the lift hub in Corvara and will pick you up at days end if required. Actually, there is a way to ski right to the side of the hotel, ask the folks there, just need enough snow down there.

Location is convenient for gear as Sportalfredo has their rental store right outside the hotel so it’s a 10 second walk to get your rentals which can be booked online directly.

Hotel has a large spa with pool, saunas and all kinds of goodies. The rooms are big, have balconies, in the annex across the street, excellent location, views and room amenities are great, bathroom is spotless and huge.

Just a great place to stay in the Dolomites. On par with and perhaps better than many other hotels in the European Alps and most definitely better than even the ritzy 5 star places in the US !

Only negative I can think of but worth noting, there are no Coffee percolators/machines in the rooms so only way to get an early morning java or tea is to wait for the restaurant to open at 730pm. Apparently this is a Dolomites thing but first time for this traveler as far as memory serves one.

Don't look anywhere else in Corvara, Col Alto is the place to stay. The rooms, food and staff are outstanding and the food/wine at dinner is to die for. Every night the menu changes and wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. The kids loved the pool and all of the adults enjoyed the sauna and the bar at night (live music). Plenty of hiking, biking, and shopping during the daytime (you will not be bored). We are coming back in the Winter to ski the Dolomites for the first time.

We spent about a week hiking in the mountains around Corvara. Returning to Hotel Col Alto at the end of each day was fantastic. Starting the day with their breakfast was pretty good too.

A word needs to be included about their staff as well. The restaurant staff was super friendly and kind each morning. They all went out of their way to ensure our day started beautifully. A special shout out to the woman who runs the restaurant each day (seating, supervising, etc.) and the young woman who was heading off to England to study.

I can never forget the amazing stay I had in this hotel. You would walk through the doors and just stare into this wonderful, quiet and calm lounge. If the lounge wasn't good enough, then I'm sure you would adore the rooms. Amazing twin sized cozy beds with squishy matresses. Personally my top thing about this hotel which was right up my alley was the pasta chef you would cook your demand of whatever kind of spaghetti dish you would like. Their serivce is solid quality, amazing views of the astonishing valleys and delicious foods. Looking for a hotel to ski in Italy 🇮🇹 ? Hotel Col Alto is the place!
