We came here for the one night exhausted. Before moving onward to hotel on islands The hotel looked and feels clean our room tho basic , But had good sized flat screen tv with lots of channels also had a king bed which is more what we call a superking size and feels firm when you sit on it but we both slept excellently. And bed was excellent, Pillows are comfy and linens clean. Mattress feels quite new to be fair. Hotel was quiet for a while but later guests next door with kids woke us for a while When coming in I have read loads of reviews about low water pressure when showing in and around male hotels but ours was great. The main rain head was not good but the large handheld shower set was great and got us clean super quick. Did not get woken by any call to prayer so maybe this area is more quiet than main male. The manager skylass ( no idea how to spell his name) was super helpful and could not be more so. Even walked us across the street to show us somewhere reasonably decent to eat. He booked our taxi back to airport also The breakfast is a bit of a climb on 4th flor and i decided it did not look very appetising, so also declined any cooked eggs altho thats just me being fussy Coffee was good tho Al in all to be really fair we have stayed in much more high end hotels and had worse experiences Most people just want a decent comfy bed and a quiet nights sleep when staying in a place for a night and this hotel gave us that in spades If we come again to maldives i would happily stay here again for a night Tip when traveling i always take silicon ear plugs with me which really help with background noise like birds or noisy guests but mainly my better half snoring Extra tip Be VERY WARY of taxis at airport as our first driver was without doubt the most dangerous and worst driver i have ever been in car with Also the cars are in such a poor state of repair they would be scrapped in a modern country. Your family are going in this so if the car is covered in dents and damaged bodywork AVOID THEM.

We had a night here as our flight arrived at 11pm. We booked the transfer with the hotel for $5 pp which was very convenient. We could pay the fee on our credit card at check out. We had a lovely room on the first floor. It was very comfortable. With great bed and pillows. The bathroom was also very nice. Everything was spotless. The rates here are very good. Only realised the next day on the way to the outer island boat transfer that this hotel is only a block from the beach. It was noisey at night with cars and motorbikes. I suggest bring earplugs. Lovely staff. Very friendly. Can highly recommend for a good mid range property.

The Maakanaa Lodge made me feel welcome and cared for after I landed in the Maldives. It is managed by a family who lives on site, which makes it highly attentive and personal. It makes a perfect transitional accommodation for those just arriving and awaiting transfer to an island OR it could be a home base to explore several islands. I would go back to the Maakanaa Lodge in a heartbeat!

We stayed here for a night before going to the resort. We were picked up from the airport and driven to the lodge. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the owners even though it was late at night. There was no elevator but the staff helped us with our luggage. The room we had was spacious, clean and cosy. We did not have any problem with noise and had a good night sleep. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to the Maldives.

I stayed here five nights on a business trip. The place is great and I thoroughly recommend it. I was greeted warmly with a cold towel and a glass of fresh juice, even though it was late at night. The room is spacious (so I had room for my luggage), has a large desk (where I was able to work), a large closet (with plenty of hangers), and a large bathroom (where I was able to open my bag of toiletries. The bed was large and comfortable. There is a/c and a fan. The internet worked very well throughout my stay. One nice feature is a dimmable light controlled by a know right next to the bed. The beach is 50 m away, but the water at that point is quite shallow. I didn’t have time during my stay to find deeper water. There are many restaurants around so getting breakfast or dinner is not a problem. Although I heard the call to prayer each morning at 04:50, I can’t imagine the sound would wake anyone. The owner is a very pleasant gentleman and we spoke several mornings while I waited for my ride. He had told me on my arrival that there was local construction and the noise might disturb me. However, the room was always quiet and I was never disturbed by any noise either within or without the hotel. There are two minor points that someone might consider. There is no lift (elevator), and the stairs are quite narrow. The hotel staff took my luggage up and down, so the stairs presented no problem for me. The other issue is that there is no fan in the bathroom; instead, there is a window that is always open. As such, the bathroom was always warm (which I liked) but it meant that smells and steam took some time to dissipate.

Maakanaa is a perfect place if you need a stop over in Male. From the minute you book the lodge are in contact confirming arrival times, pick up and details to help you transit to your next destination. Only 15mins from the airport the lodge is super clean, with large spacious rooms and a supper comfy super king size bed. Breakfast is simple but tasty and satisfying. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Clean rooms, comfortable, friendly. Asked for 2 rooms and 1 with twin beds, and was arranged. Note construction noise during daytime. Had a morn walk at the beach. Nothing much in the vicinity. Paid for breakfast and it was a buffet breakfast with ordered eggs, local madlivian wraps, juices etc.

We arrived at Velana International Airport around 1pm and we had arranged for a hotel pickup at the arrival. We changed USD100 at the currency exchange at the arrivals. I recommend changing some cash to the Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR) as the convenience stores and eateries around the area of Hulhumale accepts MVR. The ride to the hotel is about 10-15 minutes away. Hotel exterior looks neat and clean. There are a few development works around the hotel, which are expected throughout Maldives to support the increasing tourism arrivals. The owners and staff greeted us at the entrance and helped us with the luggage, similar to resort standards. We received lovely, humble service; got us familiar with the hotel surroundings (the beach, nearby F&B establishments etc). Room and hotel interior are clean and spacious. It was comfortable for a night stay before we headed the following day for our island getaway. There was an unfortunate blackout that lasted for 30 minutes at night around 10pm. The entire neighbourhood was affected. I will not be giving them demerit for this as it is not the hotel's fault. Though I recommend packing battery-operated fan and torchlight to keep you comfortable during that short downtime. The hotel offers breakfast at USD10 breakfast per pax, which you may need to let them know in advance during check-in. We never tried their breakfast but we found that Bread Matters Green, a local cafe about 3 minutes walk away, serves breakfast at MVR95 per pax. I believe with taxes, it should amount to MVR110 (USD8). There are also other F&B establishments along the beach which is just behind the hotel. There is a supermarket called Redwave about 6 minutes away. I suggest getting your local snacks (chips, chocolate, drinks etc) here and pack them for your island getaway. The owner also helped us call our island resort to arrange a pick-up at the airport . All the island resort pickups will be from the airport arrivals so Maakanaa Lodge transported us back to where we arrived to meet with our assigned resort host. Note: The hotel charges USD5 per pax for a one-way airport transfer trip. For return trip it is USD10 per pax. There is also a Green tax of USD3 per night per room. Do prepare some USD with you. The billing is during checkout.

Maakanaa Lodge is an excellent choice for a short stay especially if you need to spend a night in Male while awaiting for your resort transfer the following day or so. This is our 2nd time staying with them. We were here a year ago for our honeymoon and we're back for our 1st year Anniversary :) The airport transfer is convenient. It's charged at 5 USD per person per trip and it beats having to join the long queue for a taxi. Just email the hotel your flight details and someone will be waiting to pick you up from the airport. Both times, the driver was on time and never late. It's a 15 min ride from the airport and upon entering the premises, it gives you a very homely almost Air Bnb vibe. They serve you cold face towels and a refreshing glass of orange juice during the check-in. And it's always a smooth process. The owners are a very lovely couple and they gave us very helpful tips on where we could get a late night bite the 1st time we were here. And even though, there was a unfortunate street-wide blackout the 2nd time we came, the owners were very hospitable and apologetic about the situation. The rooms are located up a narrow staircase but don't worry, they carry your luggage up for you >. < The rooms are also very neatly arranged and clean. There's water heater for the shower and the basic necessities such as toiletries, kettle and a save are all provided for. Overall we enjoyed our stay with them the both times we were there and we really recommend them to future travellers looking for a short stay.

We stayed at this small yet cozy place for two nights . The owners are lovely people. Alsways there to help you . They helped us to plan our day and suggested us places for dinning. We went for a day trip excursion as suggested by then and had a fantastic time except the fact that we got badly tanned ( not their fault though :-). They have airport pick up n drop at a price . It’s better to use facility provided by them as the car is clean n nice . The room size is pretty decent with modern touch . Very clean room and linen . We had a very comfortable stay . Thank you Shaheen . Their place is near the beach and there are plenty of good restaurants. There is a nice small park . And Jetty is close by . Would recommend to future guests .
