To update Hugenot and other visitors of Olmares past and present, Wifi is now available and even with my slow company system and strange working hours, was fast and stable. Also, while you may not be able to make the sun set in the East, you can see the equally beautiful sunrise.

The apartment itself is of a very high quality. It is superbly furnished, very comfortable, and full of character, having been built using the core of old farm-workers' dwellings. It was an absolute pleasure just to occupy this space. The sun doesn't set in the east, but it rises there, so the views from the balcony in the morning are lovely (and remain so throughout the day!) Richard was there to meet us when we arrived, and he and Suzanne were always happy to help and answer any questions, but generally stayed discreetly in the background. The little touches, like having enough food to see us through the first evening and morning, were very welcome. One useful addition, for us, would have been a more modern TV with inbuilt DVD/CD player. Evenings are quiet, but the facility to…

Probably the perfect holiday break location if you want peace and quiet, stupendous views, wonderful walks and hosts with the ability to be available without being 'in your face'. The rooms are finished to a very high standard, and the surrounding countryside is breathtaking. It's a long way from shops etc, which is a great advantage. My wife and I have been twice, and will go again.

These are really comfortable, beautiful apartments in a lovely location. On arrival there was real coffee, bread, butter, milk, tea and a few other goodies - a lovely welcome. The kitchen is well equipped with a full size oven, hob, large fridge/freezer, microwave AND champagne glasses! The shared facilities are excellent - a very well equipped free laundry, a "study" with lots of local interest books, walks, maps and a well stocked library of DVDs. Re the noise outside, it was a pity our TV speaker pointed towards the patio door. We were so paranoid about "disturbing other residents" that we had to shut the door every time the television was on. Not good on a baking hot day. Personally, I don't mind a little music outside so long as people are considerate of others. As…

The owner doesn't like smoking - fair enough, we wouldn't smoke inside anyway, but to disallow it on the patio or in the garden is going a bit far! Neither are you allowed to watch TV or play music with the patio doors open or hang out any washing - oh come on! If you like a walk out to a local bar in the evening - forget it, there isn't one. However it's a really well kept and presented apartment in a beautiful location and it's really, really quiet. Too quiet for us and we didn't find out about the rules until we arrived - maybe they should be on the website so that people know the score before a booking is made?

Sorry 'Druid 62' picked an inappropriate place for his holiday. Our webpage states "Please do not smoke at Olmares - it is a non smoking area." Some honeymooners on their nearby balcony complained of the smoke and so I naturally passed the message on. People come to Olmares for the peace and quiet and often to listen to the birdsong. The local bar is 1Km down the road.
