I have been to the hotel before and chose to come again for a birthday weekend treat. Upon checking in we found that the toilet wouldn’t stop flushing, this was addressed right away with humour and grace by the staff (Scott). One of the best things about the hotel, and there are many, are the fantastic massive baths (I only have a shower at home), upon running a bath and getting in I heard water escaping down the overflow pipe and landing somewhere. After checking the floor and finding it bone dry I relaxed, there was a knock at the door to see if I was okay as the water from the overflow was pouring through the reception roof downstairs! The staff tried to move us but the hotel was fully booked. They really couldn’t have been more gracious and again our water feature was handled with professionalism and humour. We were given free drinks and a large discount upon checkout. I can’t fault the staff at all, they’re all really lovely and helpful and that’s a large part of what makes a stay here so special. Can’t wait to come back.

As we arrived we were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the building and the reception was, the photos on the website do t do it justice! The room was nice but if you plan putting the fan on (from the cupboard) then watch out for your room being covered in the debris, obviously doesn’t get checked when the room gets cleaned. We got a great deal but had we paid full price I may have been a bit disappointed, despite opting for an upgrade there was none of the usual expected luxuries such as bottled water, mini fridge or robe. The hotels strength is their staff, very friendly and helpful with a special mention for Scott at reception who was very understanding with our change of plans (we caused him some trouble but he did not seem to be fazed whatsoever but went out of his way to help us), it’s refreshing to have the level of professionalism that we received and should we return, it will be because of the treatment received by all.

We booked this hotel through Hotels.com and unfortunately found out Hotel .com obviously don’t do great deals if it looks like a good deal it will probably just turn out to be a really rubbish room. We booked a room at the Colessio and when we arrived were given room 101 . This room has a wet room instead of a proper bathroom so is probably classed as a disabled room. A word of warning for any disabled guests (we are not ) don’t bring a change of clothes as you will not be able to access the wardrobe in fact apart from the disabled bathroom with a dodgy shower seat and towel rail around 8’ from the sink you probably will not be able to access anything. This room is completely oppressive having one small window looking out to an enclosed space as a result this room is very dark , not helped by the lack of any decent lighting and even that was not working properly.. the room has no air conditioning so after asking to change rooms unsuccessfully , apparently the hotel was full, I was given a fan. Which was about as effective as a handbrake on a canoe. This Hotel lists itself as a four star establishment, this bedroom is probably two star at most. This room should definitely be given to Frank Skinner to be consigned to his room 101.

Stayed for couple of night on the dinner, bed and breakfast rate. The rooms were clean and modern. The food was delicious, plenty of choice. The staff went above and beyond with our requests. We enjoyed our time and would recommend.
