If you’re looking for a lovely stay in a small quintessential English Village (complete with thatched cottages nearby) on the Isle of Wight, then you’ve found the right place! We arrived in Southampton from a cruise and took a 30 minute catamaran trip over to the island. The cottage is located about 25 minutes from the port. Shona and Amanda make you feel like family and the three very spacious, well designed rooms allow you space, comfort, and many extra amenities that a standard bed and breakfast forget. The rooms are spotless, breakfasts delicious and the tiki bar in the back (weather permitting) is an extra touch. The pictures on their website are real photos and not altered. Godshill is a small village connected to towns via bus or taxi (need to arrange in advance), but has a few quality restaurants and pubs within walking distance, a cafe and bakery, some shops, a model village, thatched cottages and the ‘church on the hill’…and the donuts! You’ll have to ask about them! Thank you Shona and Amanda for an enjoyable and memorable visit!

I don't know what I liked better, the beautiful room or the wonderful hosts.
This place is gorgeous, we stayed in the sapphire suite. The room is spotlessly clean with beautiful wooden furniture and a huge comfy bed. There is also a sofa and the TV is hidden away in a large wall unit which also houses a very generous wardrobe and a mini fridge with complimentary bottles of water, and fresh milk. There is a large bathroom complete with a roll top bath , walk in shower and a very ornate sink with boiling hot water and there is no water pressure issues either. You also get to use some fluffy bathrobes.
A lovely touch was that there is a record player in the room along with an eclectic mix of vinyl's.
Outside you have your own parking space and enter through the side gate which takes you to the rooms with their own garden entrance, each with a small table and chairs outside for a drink in the sun.
In the morning you take a very short walk to the breakfast room where you get to meet the hosts Shona and Amanda who will make you the best breakfast you have ever had whilst chatting to you like you have known each other for ages. What lovely ladies they are, very friendly and knowledgeable about anything you need to know and if they can help they will. They really make this a wonderful place to stay.
I already miss our little breakfast club 😂
I have been going to the Isle of Wight for many, many years and stayed in a mixture of places but the Koala Cottage is by far the best, so glad we found this little gem and cannot wait to return.

My partner has limited mobility, so we wanted a quality B&B that provided easy access, no steps and a walk-in shower. Koala Cottage met our requirements very well. We stayed for 3 nights in the Ruby Suite - one of three suites which are basically an extension of the owners' own home. Shona and Amanda were excellent hosts, and provided a superb breakfast each morning, as well as good recommendations for places to eat in the evening.
Highly recommended.

We have just come back from a wonderful two night stay at Koala Cottage. The location is within a really pretty village which has a small selection of places to eat all within walking distance. Our room was a very good size, and the bed was really comfortable. We had the best two nights sleep we’ve had for a long time. Our hosts were amazing, we think they had thought of just about everything we could need, and the breakfast they cooked for us was really good. Certainly set us up for the day. We had a car so this was a good base to get around the island, but there were bus stops nearby that went to many places, so if you had no car, this would not be a problem for getting around. We would certainly recommend and are looking forward to our next visit to stay here.

What a wonderful break we had at koala cottage whilst on a long weekend on the Isle of Wight.
The room itself was beautifully decorated and had every thing you would need to have a comfortable stay.

The bed and sofa were lovely and comfortable, and the bathroom was exquisite with a very unusually decorated toilet!
The hosts were excellent. They were friendly and informative without being intrusive and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
The breakfast was of a very high quality with plenty of choice.
Although not used, the addition of an EV charger is an excellent idea and a reassurance for those in an electric vehicle if you needed to charge.
The cottage is ideally located in Godshill within a short walk to a couple of pubs and the charming village.
The rooms have excellent Internet, which is nice when you are planning your days around the island.
Overall, this is a delightful place with wonderful hosts and a very comfortable and spacious room. Would definitely like to come back in the summer months and enjoy the hospitality again.

We agreed that Koala Cottage deserves its Trip Advisor 5* rating, based on our three night stay. The per night B&B rate is quite high, but as always you 'get what you pay for'.
Shona offers a clear briefing about the room and the Covid secure measures that are in place to give confidence about safety and the bedroom, bathroom and breakfast area is spotlessly clean.
Traditional furnishings in the large and well appointed rooms are comfortable and constructed of heavy pine: a fridge is a bonus, and a relaxing settee was appreciated. We thought that the duvet and pillow cases could be in need of an upgrade before too long? The squeaky flooring in our room was a little irritating.
In contrast the breakfast room is more modern, bright, stylish and complemented with nice china and top quality linen table cloths and napkins.
Shona's breakfasts are of legendary quality, with a particular highlight being the omelettes, with multi choice fillings. The balance between efficiency and friendliness is exactly right, and Shona is an excellent and experienced host .
A final mention for location: Godshill is an ideal base for exploring the island, but in addition you have the benefit of excellent dining opportunities in easy walking distance. Our top recommendation is Woods Kitchen (see a separate review)
We shall be happy to recommend to others!

This was my first stay here although I have been to the Isle of Wight many times and know the original owners. This is located in the beautiful village of Godshill & is tucked away near the church with private parking. Each of the 3 rooms has it's own separate entrance & the rooms are large and luxurious with fantastic vintage bathrooms ensuite. The feel of the place is wonderful and being only 3 rooms it feels quiet and peaceful. Each room has a different gemstone theme & we were in the Ruby suite. The finish of the place is lovely there is everything that you need waiting for you including fresh ground coffee, fresh milk, water & sweeties! All of the usual amenities are there such as an iron & ironing board & hairdryer, there is free wifi & Sky. There are luxury toiletries in the bathroom, plenty of fluffy towels and lots of other nice little touches.
Shona was very friendly & welcoming & cooks a fabulous breakfast! Nothing was too much trouble & there was a nice fresh breakfast menu which we chose from each evening for the next day. The breakfast room is light & airy & really well set up to maintain distancing. There are lots of cleaning wipes & hand gel all around the place to maintain safety measures. The place was very clean and felt very safe, a lot of care had been taken to make it a comfortable stay & I would recommend Koala Cottage to anyone wanting a bit of luxury in a central place on the Island, I have already booked my next trip.

We had the best weekend at Koala Cottage! The room was amazing and we really enjoyed the quirky touch of having a record player in the room. We're actually planning on buying one ourselves now. Shona and Amanda were such wonderful hosts and made the most delicious breakfasts, thank you :) We can't recommend this place enough!

Such friendly hosts with warm and welcoming experiences. Breakfasts were special with big omelettes or large English breakfast and thick slices of bread and bacon, and that was after freshly made fruit salad or cereal. Literally steps away from the model village, which is so quaint and very large..well worth a visit. Plus a lovely pub over the road that serves great beer and food...(suet pastry pie is scrummy) and a really good vegan restaurant next door. Buses are easy to use and catch, and there's quick access 5 mins away to the red squirrel trail for cycling or walking. So once you've spent all day touring with so many options on tap its great to get back to a huge room with sofa, have a glass of wine or hot chocolate and unwind knowing there's another big breakfast and friendly chat coming round in the morning.

Best mini break ever…the only thing that would have made it better would have been an extra couple of nights!
The rooms are gorgeous, spotlessly clean, lovely extras you don’t expect like a record player and a decanter of very delicious sherry. Such a comfy bed, and great selection of teas and filter coffee.
Breakfast is outstanding, definitely set us up for the day and most importantly no koalas were harmed in the making of the omelette!
Shona and Amanda could not be better hosts - warm, friendly, chatty with lots of good tips and advice for where to visit during your stay.
Can not recommend highly enough, and cannot wait to come back for a cocktail at the tiki bar!
