This was our first ever trip to IOW and we weren’t disappointed with our choice of Hotel, it is a lovely family run hotel with great staff. We wanted a seaview from our room and we got it with a large balcony/ terrace facing the sea, the room/ bathroom was always very clean lots of fluffy towels and tea coffee kettle in the room. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice, hot and very well cooked. We ate dinner there twice and lunch once, delicious prawn sandwiches.Great atmosphere in the bar at night with decking outside to enjoy before dinner/ after dinner drinks. If we return to IOW we would definitely stay there again .

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Harrow Lodge Hotel. The staff are all very friendly especially Lisa who looked after us at breakfast most days, even remembering what we liked. The breakfast each day was excellent, help yourself to cereal, juices and toast and then everything cooked to order and always lovely and hot . Also had bowls of fresh fruit, yoghurts and croissants . The hotel is clean and although our room was small and we had problems with the shower enclosure we had everything we needed . We were lucky with the weather so did not spend much time in the room anyway and when we told Gina about the problems with the shower doors it was repaired and she also said she was going to try and get it upgraded. The hotel is on several different levels and there are a few awkward little steps which could be a problem if there are any mobility issues. It is only about 100yards from the cliff lift down to the beach which is useful as the cliff path by the hotel is closed due to it being unsafe. There is also parking outside the hotel , spaces are limited and if you have a midsize vehicle there is not much room for the passenger doors to be opened to allow people out. It is a no through road so it is fairly safe for the passengers to get out in the road before the car is parked. The ice cream kiosk out in the garden sells the cheapest tubs and cones we had anywhere. If you are looking for a friendly , well located basic hotel then it is a good option. It represents good value for money and for us worked out cheaper than some basic self catering accommodation which we had also looked at. 5 stars to the team and for the breakfast. Only 4 stars for the room but if we had asked we would have probably been ablt to swop rooms.

What a little gem of a hotel! We stayed for 3 days and we’re impressed by the friendly staff and the amazing location with uninterrupted sea views. Our room (4) had its own balcony with table and chairs which was a lovely touch. Breakfast was faultless you could have as much as you wanted and it was cooked to perfection. The room was serviced everyday - proper cups and saucers with the tea/coffee facilities instead of the usual mugs was most welcome. Big bonus was on site parking. We ate at the hotel for two nights - very reasonably priced and good quality food. All in all, highly recommended.

The hotel is clean and ideally located with a lovely sea view. Parking is a bonus - would be improved with at least one disabled parking bay.

The hotel itself is tired and in need of updating. Breakfast was ok - nothing special. The bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom was small and needed a refit. Unfortunately the pressure on the shower was very poor.

The staff were generally pleasant and polite (especially the cleaner who was always smiling and helpful). It seems the hotel is run entirely by staff who I feel need to be more customer focused.

All in all a pleasant enough stay as a last minute arrangement but wouldn’t return.

We've just returned from a wonderful stay at 'Harrow Lodge Hotel', where we received a warm and friendly welcome from the lovely Gina, along with all of the team, who made our stay really special and for whom make this wonderful hotel what it is - delightful!!

I cannot fault the service provided, friendliness of the staff, location of the hotel and value offered, nothing was too much trouble and our doggie companions were also made very welcome - with lots of love, fuss and doggie treats at the ready.

Like ourselves, the majority of guests are repeat bookers - who love to return to experience the warm welcome extended by the exceptionally friendly staff and management.

We cannot wait to go back and would most certainly highly reccomend.

Harrow lodge is a small Hotel near the lift at the top of Shanklin. overlooking the sea..
It has great views, with a very friendly atmosphere.
We visited it on a wet windy day.We chose the Sandwich deal which included a beer or a glass of wine. My wife had the prawn sandwich, I had the Sausage sandwich, both came with a large side salad. We also had a portion of chips between us.absolutely delicious, and great value.
What impressed me was the proprietor remembered our family from a previous visit. (The year before) good customer service.
Will definitely return.

A warm welcome from Gina. Room had all you needed but would have liked one a little larger but booked quite late. Very clean and comfy bed so slept well in this very quiet area. Great sea views too and we had lovely weather which always helps.
Plenty of choice at Breakfast and took advantage of evening meals provided. Great choice and all very reasonably priced. Our food was deliciously hot and cooked to perfection.
Everyone in the hotel, guests and staff created a great relaxing atmosphere and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Hotel to anyone. Thanks for a lovely stay, the pleasure was certainly ours. Warmest wishes for the future

We have been staying at the Harrow Lodge since 1991 and go back every year with our children now almost adults! Gina, Rob, Steph and all the staff including Sharon and Debbie are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble, the food is home cooked and fresh, they will also cater for your requirements or intolerances, great breakfast to set you up for the day, varied menu to cater for all the family too. We usually always have a seaview room and it is so quiet, clean, relaxing and perfect place to sit on the balcony with a glass of fizz or a coffee in the morning watching the sunrise. Great location, Shanklin is a little gem of a place, like Old England.
We would not want to stay anywhere else, our children have grown up visiting the Harrow Lodge and to be honest we are treated like one of the family.
It is a family run business, not a big clinical, corporate place with no personality, it is charming and welcoming and long may we be able to visit.
Highly recommended!

The Hotel is in a lovely quiet spot in Shanklin. Right next to the cliff lift which takes you direct to the beach, ideal if you dont want to drive. The hotel was amazing, nice and clean, Gina and the staff could not do enough for you. The cooked breakfast was 1st class, plenty of choice and always piping hot. Room was spotless and exceptionally comfortable, we were extremely grateful to have a small patio out the back door.
The only minor complaint is the shower pressure.
Other than that I would recommend to everyone. We will certainly be going back.
Many thanks to Gina &staff for making this a relaxing break despite the weather

We loved staying at this hotel. The two massive positives were the gorgeous location - right on the cliff with stunning sea views from the terrace where we enjoyed a drink and dinner. Just exceptional. It's easy to stroll to all the nicest parts of Shanklin, too. The other massive positive was the staff and service. They were impressively friendly and efficient. Service was extremely quick as well, especially considering the hotel was full. Our room was hot and we were instantly given a brand new fan the moment we asked. Table service for breakfast is unusual and it was brilliant.
The only less positive point was that the menu was very traditional and fairly limited, but everything was nicely cooked. Overall, a real gem of a place.

You can choose which breakfast you want. There's a full English, cereal, fruit or just croissants or toast. There's plenty of options and they are very approachable if you require something else. A veggie option is also available, which my wife said was very nice.
