I go to the Brocket regularly and cannot fault the place. Tonight's meal was excellent spicy chicken coleslaw and side salad, absolutely delicious. 5 stars from me. Best witherspoons in the North West.

We stayed on an October Saturday night. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable, quiet, the radiator worked, and so did the thermostat. Spare pillows are available in the room. The TV picture quality is excellent. Wi Fi not so good, and is intermittent throughout the hotel rooms and bar. There is a bottle of still and sparkling water in the room with adequate tea, coffee and milk. The bar is massive and serves the usual range of drinks and Weatherspoon’s meals, with friendly staff. The bar closes at 1am. A few things to be aware of is if you arrive after around 9pm, or perhaps earlier, you can’t get in the reception entrance. There is an intercom device but it didn’t appear to work. A passing customer inside let us in. No one is on reception, just pick up the phone and dial a number as instructed. Do not worry if it rings in reception, I think it rings or is diverted to the managers portable as well, and he or she comes to reception. The parking is free, but you have to register your car registration number at reception on arrival on a screen on the reception desk. After that all is straightforward.

The Brocket Arms is a 10 minute walk from Wigan town centre. The area to park behind the hotel is small and is part of a public pay and display car park. Be sure to register your car number plate with reception as soon as you arrive. Our room was small but adequate, it had hair dryer, iron/board, tea/coffee, biscuits, TV etc., all we needed for 1 night. We thought it might be a bit noisy late evening, but it wasn’t. The bed was very comfy, it was very hot in the room and the windows didn’t open very far, thankfully we bought an electric fan with us. The shower was very good, lots of hot water, and nice fluffy towels were provided. For the price paid, £44, we think it is very good value for money. We ate at the Wetherspoons restaurant for evening meal and breakfast, and both times the food was hot, tasty and well presented, again great prices. All the staff we met were helpful and polite. Yes, the hotel could definitely do with a bit of TLC, however, we have no complaints about our stay.

Room had everything you would want, Up to date decor, tv, free wifi in room, decent shower, But this room was not deep cleaned, kettle dirty, coffee stains on table and hair on the carpet. We had the dreaded room 128 with noise from fan venting outside the window all night long. To be fair to the manager she addressed the situation to our satisfaction. Cant fault the staff here apart from the cleaners of course, all were very pleasant and a credit to Weatherspoon's, Food in this place was very good and a good price for pub grub. Would i stay here again yes i would but cleaners need to do a lot better and please not room 128. Parking is first come first served. Would have given 5 if we had a clean room and no noise from outside of window.
