I stayed here for three nights (20th - 22nd Nov) as I wanted somewhere to stay near the Cathedral.. Such a lovely pub and double room.. (ensuite shower/bathroom. TV.. WiFi...) The owners were so friendly and very welcoming .. it must be a "Northern thing" but the customers were all friendly too.. had no problem talking to anyone in the pub (very different down south) Also they do a great cheese toastie.. I would definitely stay here again..

Fantastic, proper pub with fabulous beer and lovely surroundings. This was our first but definitely not our last visit. An unspoiled, old English pub with good choice of well priced beers. Couldn't ask for anything else

Booked three rooms for an extended weekend in Durham ( which is lovely). Pub is delightful with a deliberately old fashioned decor, good beer and a friendly welcome. Rooms are recently updated and more than adequate. Pub is really well positioned, just 10 minutes stroll to the centre of the city. Negatives which stop a 5 star rating is the lack of breakfast ( though lots of cafes in the city) and the slightly haphazard nature of some of the showers. We really enjoyed our time here.

We were in Durham this week and decided to visit and were not disappointed. It has a fabulous interior, warm reception, great selection of beers / keg. We had a great discussion with the locals and felt very welcome / included. We'll worth seeking out.

Hidden gem of a hotel situated right near the city centre. Warm friendly welcome and absolute bargain price compared to the large chain hotels. Bedrooms were all very clean with all the facilities you need. It’s a lovely characterful pub and it’s nice to give back to local businesses. Would definitely book again.

The welcome on booking in was second to none, nothing was any problem. The bar is interesting with many original features and the locals were very friendly and made us welcome. Despite it being on a reasonsbly busy road, road noise was minimal. The rooms were clean and well presented and the morning staff was so helpful. The on site parking is a little tight but thankfully we were the only car. Great place to base your stay in the City with lots of cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

Stayed with my partner in May 22. It's a proper pub with a warm welcome, friendly locals and an excellent host ( Michael) close to the city centre. The provision of free parking is another great feature.

We visited this pub while out walking one Saturday weeks ago. The staff and the regulars are very friendly. It’s a lovely welcoming pub. I would highly recommend a visit. So much so that our Saturday walk now takes in a stop for a drink (or two)

We stayed for two nights at the Victoria Inn and we couldn't have asked for a better stay. Michael and his colleagues were incredibly helpful and attentive. We arrived before check-in, and they still ensured that the room was available, which was a lovely room on the first floor. The inn itself is about 4 minutes walk from the cathedral and castle, and about 7 minutes from the city centre. Unfortunately, they don't offer breakfast, but we knew about that beforehand and made alternative arrangements.
