We have an annual golfing trip! Guys only, drive up, round of golf, evening meal and drink, overnight stay, breakfast and another round of golf Simples! You would have thought so! Experts in the hospitality business? When we arrived and checked into the golf course, The people apologised and said due to the recent rainfall, if any more fell in the next hour, they would have to close the course! No problem with that decision, it is what golfers expect! The course offered us course tickets with an expiry date, to be taken anytime in the next year! No problem there! The we went back to the hotel to explain that the sole reason for our long drive and booked meal and overnight stay was the golf! Their attitude amazed us! No refund or even a voucher to come again to enjoy the golf and book an evening meal at a later date! The hotels attitude in our opinion was disgraceful! We have shared this experience with all of our friends and business colleagues! Would we advise anyone to use this hotel? The answer to this is an emphatic No! This is nothing like the sort of attitude or service we have come to expect!

This was our first visit to Ramside Hall & Spa. We both work hard and give ourselves a treat now and then with a special overnight stay. The website promised luuxery and outstanding service, We were disappointed. Why? Our room was OK but for the money we paid we where expecting something a bit more stylish. Yes it was spacious and comfortable but standard fair to be honest. Bland decoration, like so many hotels these days. We have had many more rooms that "wow" you for a lot less money. I used the gym in the spa which was excellent, air conditioned and well equipped, a real positive. We got dressed for dinner early as we always do and headed out for a cocktail. This is were it started to go a bit down hill. We judge a hotel by the quality of the service & the atmosphere. The surroundings and feel of the main hotel are fine, there is certainly history there. Unfortunately the service dosent match it. The bar prices where high, which you dont mind once in a while, but the service didn't match it. You soon realise that the vast majority of the serving staff are very young, 15, 16, 17 maybe, most of them looked liked scared rabbits in the headlights (good love them). They where doing there best but the lack of experience showed. We had an excellent meal in the Fusion restaurant, I can not fault it. The young chap behind the bar served us two great cocktails and was keen to find out if we enjoyed them, which was a nice touch. The two young waitresses in Fusion were lovely, a smile and attentive service makes a lot of difference. On the strength of the food in Fusion we booked for the Gala Ball on new year's eve. The lady at reception was lovely, even though it was late. Unfortunately, after the next mornings breakfast experience we which we hadnt booked. It was disorganised chaos, we waited ages to be shown to a table, if your going to do table service for tea & coffee it needs to be quick, which it wasn't. Again the young staff where OK but someone needed to tell them a smile and a good morning are important to guests in any standard of hotel. The food was OK, but mostly luke warm, I love black pudding but not here, it was shrivelled and as hard as a biscuit. Ques of quests built up, with tables not getting cleared away, mountains of dirty glasses on the bar, not good. I looked at the chef keeping the hot plates full of food, he didn't smile once or speak to a guest with a smile, again, these are the small things that make a big difference. We looked at cancelling new years eve but we couldn't, even though we had booked less than 24hrs before. If the service at breakfast is anything to go by, we are keeping our fingers crossed it will be OK. They are not cheap tickets and I'm sure the food will be good, but service with a smile wouldn't go a miss.

Room Tip: The food in the Fusion restaurant is excellent, but book a table in the restaurant itself, not in...

I have just returned from Ramside Hall with 7 friends celebrating a 60th birthday. I booked this in May, we had the time together package, combined with an overnight stay. None of us had stayed here before. From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, everything was perfect. The staff, the rooms, the food, the Spa, everything was fantastic. I cannot fault anything. I would highly recommend this venue. Infact, we are all returning next year for another 60th in one of the Treehouses..Wow check these out! Just stunning. Thank you Ramside, we really had an amazing time. See you next year!

Our 2nd stay in the amazing tree houses. From walking into reception the service was outstanding. Quick check in and loved the ride to the tree house with Chris such a friendly guy. The tree house was beautiful I believe it was Dove we stayed in. I would like to mention thanks to Amy in reservations who made our booking and gave great advice on treatments. We even had swans on our bed We loved this, such a nice touch. We will be back. Well done Ramside staff and management. See you soon.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel last week; room was beautiful although could do with a deep clean. We dined in the carvery both nights and you could see the staff were over worked. There was big groups of loud obnoxious golfers that the young girl had to deal with as well as changing the vegetables!!!!! When is it ever acceptable for a restaurant to be ran by 1 girl ( she did an amazing job) and for waiting staff to deal with hot items. We had an amazing meal compliments to the chef however felt for the girl when no one came to help her in this busy restaurant.

We stayed in one of the A frame treehouses (chaffinch) on Monday night and would highly recommend. We arrived at check in time and the reception area was not busy we were seen to within a couple of minutes and the reception staff were friendly and welcoming. We were given a lift to our treehouse which was a nice touch and there was parking spaces outside the treehouses so we later took our car from the carpark which was easier for leaving in the morning but it’s not a long walk from the treehouses to the main hotel etc. The treehouse was lovely and had everything to give us the peaceful night away we were looking for. There was only two of us so we didn’t use the pull down bed in the lounge area but it’s there as and when needed without feeling like it’s there when it’s not in use The treehouse is well equipped and has full size American style fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee machine so you can take snacks, drinks and light meals if preferred. We had an issue with our coffee machine the water compartment was cracked so couldn’t be used someone came around very quickly to check he apologised and took the water compartment away and about an hour later we were delivered a brand new part which was totally appreciated. There is two showers and toilets one up one down of each and a lovely free standing bath in the bedroom. For us there was an unpleasant smell in the upstairs shower but this was only noticed when opening the shower door and we didn’t need to use this shower so it wasn’t an issue. There is a sauna and hot tub outside looking over the golf course along with a table and chairs and a lounge chair again very accommodating. The treehouse throughout was very clean with lovely views and a luxury feel. It’s a little on the pricier side but for a special treat I think it’s worth it and we would be more than happy to visit again. The only let down to our stay which was a huge let down was The Rib Room restaurant where we had chose to dine on the evening very slow service especially for a quiet Monday evening. Our steak was inedible first arriving raw after being ordered medium and then re fired and returned to us very rare at this point we had waited a while and didn’t want to wait again or make more of a fuss it was a bit uncomfortable so we were not feeling it anymore we again let a waiter know it wasn’t suitable and we were finished now she returned to let us know that because three of the six slices were still on the serving plate and two and half pieces were on our dinner plates not eaten and barely picked at they had deducted £20 off the £70 priced steak. We politely let them know our experience wasn’t great and we’d not ate the steak but we will pay what they have asked as we don’t want to make a fuss and would just like to be on our way. Realistically the steak should have been refunded minus the two sides which we did eat a handful of while waiting for our steak to be cooked more (chips and onion rings). Lesson learned and we would not be prepared to eat at ramside hall again so to get full use of the hotel we would only be willing to return again to a treehouse as opposed to a room where we will have the facilities to take food with us.

We stayed 1 night visiting family and found the rooms lovely, spacious and clean. Beds were very soft and comfortable and the bath was amazingly deep. Staff were very professional and courteous. We sat in the lounge near reception and overheard a woman complaining about her room, the staff offered her numerous solutions all of which she rejected. The staff handled this very well and I felt sorry for them. Will definitely stay again!

Suppose to be. Our day. He agreed to the refund. Took us. Down stairs to do the refund. Still not so much as a sorry. From neather. Staff or this manager. Will not ever will i. Pay. So much. To be umiliated. In such a way. Or. Use this. Hotel for. Anything again.
