Travellers' Choice
The Trinity Neighborhood. Newcomers, friends or just weary travelers step onto the set of history at Hotel Indigo® Durham, whilst you explore our ‘perfect little city’. Our boutique hotel is moments from the historic Durham City Centre; perfectly located for an adventure. With the magnificent university, castle and world renowned Durham Cathedral just a short stroll from our doors, you’ll be spoilt for choice. The stage for our Hotel Indigo is the former Durham University building ‘Old Shire Hall’, where you’ll find Victorian façade spills out into our ancient and romantic neighborhood laden with historic pubs, cozy cafes and spellbinding churches, or slip away into the surrounding countryside and sleepy villages. Throughout you will spot little nods to our UNESCO World Heritage. Our cocktail lounge, meeting room and Marco Pierre White restaurant all retain their Victorian heritage whilst embracing contemporary popular culture, a nod to the city’s ancient history and bright future.

Lovely room with an excellent shower. Very spacious and clean. Lovely welcome on arrival. Only complaint was first breakfast was only warm and sausage seemed tasteless and cheap. Following morning ordered kippers and it was superb. Large continental choice. Evening meal in the restaurant l couldn't fault. Will definately return.

Hotel's Favourite
This has to be the best hotel in Durham. It is in Durham centre so once parked up you can explore on foot. Car park is chargeable like most. The bedrooms are beautiful. Ours happened to be superior and it was stunning. We dined nearby at Zen which was great Thai food. Had breakfast at Indigo for which you pre-booked. Hot food cooked to order which next time we would say if we were in a hurry (or not). Beautiful rich yellow scrambled eggs and crispy back bacon. Real butter block to spread on toast - delicious.

Fantastic location, very polite and courteous staff. From the moment we entered and were greeted by the front of house staff, to the point we checked out, every element of our stay was perfect! we would happily stay here again, without a doubt. We ate at the MPW restaurant and had a great time. breakfast was good to. The room were perfect, modern but with a touch of traditional fixtures and fitting and they were warm which was brilliant.

Nice hotel, but this review is to really commend Faye, Sofi and Jessica at the Marco Pierre White restaurant that made my long days sweeter with their overly sweet personalities that were the closest thing that reminded me of being home in the states. Thank you for your laughs and smiles during my stay.

A lovely hotel in a great location. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was very nice and the breakfast was decent. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant. Parking is quite pricey at £20 per night. Only a short walk into Durham from the hotel.

This is a stunning hotel. We love that a lot of the original features have been kept making it quite unique. We were unlucky with our first room as the heating didn’t seem to be working, however the staff at the hotel did everything possible to sort this out. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel is kept clean and tidy. The only disappointment for us was the breakfast, so if we stayed again it would be on room only basis. What was really good in each room we stayed in there was the entrance door to the room/suite and then a further door into the bedroom. Some rooms had the bathroom in between the 2 doors and some the bathroom within the bedroom, either way this meant that noise from the corridor was not heard, giving you a peaceful nights sleep.

The magnificent building with its great wall tiles, colums and the staircase just a few points that make this hotel unique. Tastefully decorated and comfortable rooms, with Smart Tv, Nespresso, wide tea and coffee selection, comfortable beds, switches and plugs right next to the bedside tables. The bathroom also features heated towel rack and anti-fog mirror which we were happy to see. The Best part is the ZENOLOGY fig scented shampoos offered in all Indigos!! Although the room was clean enough, there were a few points in the bathroom that would require more attention maybe from the maintenance crew. Breakfast was lovely with A La Cartè and continental buffet selection. We also dined at the restaurant and the menu had a plethora of options including many vegetarian and vegan options. We dined there 2 nights to try different things! The dining hall was impressive and the vibe with the background music on a Saturday night was lively and so cool! The Bar music was also great! If we had to make a suggestion; Dim the lights in hotel public spaces/bar/corridors/staircases! Lights are way too bright that kill the cozyness and the vibe of the hotel! The fragrance by the hotel entrance was also great! This boutique hotel is a real jewel in the lovely town of Durham! Definitely recommended!
