Clare and Rob are the most hospitable owners we have ever met. Nothing was too much and they were lovely, engaging people. The Guest House was amazing, such a beautiful place. Our room (Room 8) was huge, great bathroom and closet with a super comfy bed. The breakfast was 10/10 with lots of choice and cooked to perfection every morning (Thanks Rob). I have recommended this place to all my family and friends and will definitely be returning!

What a fabulous stay from the 3rd - 5th Jan. Rob and Claire made mine and my partners little break special and personable. As owners they should be proud of what they have created in a short space of time. From robs cracking breakfasts to Claire’s personal interests in making sure all guests have a great time. Room Room No 3 outlooks the front of the house, with great big sash windows which open up and close easily (in the past this seems to be an issue with some places). Great but long size bed with complimentary caramel bars each day which tea/coffee. Oakwood house has the old fashioned feel to it and also a modern touch. The bathroom is modern with a shower you won’t want to leave (great pressure). They kindly decorated the room with banners and balloons as it was my girlfriends birthday, thank you for this! Breakfast Have a great choice, we went for the full English both days. Fantastic brekkie with tea/apple juice/toast etc. We swapped tomato for beans so ask and I’m sure they will accommodate if they can. The eggs are cooked to perfection both poached and scrambled. Location We were around 8 mins walk to the lake, we are fast walkers. On the way you will pass many shops/cafes/bakery/tesco extra/many pubs No1 restaurant Westmorland inn is 3 mins walk away, great food. To Windermere you’re about 20 min walk, there you will find bars and a pub called crafty baa, we went both nights as they have live music every night apart from Friday/Saturday. Service Cannot fault it, they literally will do as much as they can for you. Easy to talk to, friendly and passionate about giving good service. They made our stay. We’re recommended a good walk from the pair which is called orris head (something like that) which is about 2hrs there and back with stops. Amazing view of the lake to be had, thanks for that Claire. Value for money was incredible! If we are back in the lakes then we won’t hesitate to look here first. Great location and great service. Thank you so much, you both should be proud of what you have achieved in your time there.

Stayed for two nights in November, from minute one it was fantastic. The rooms are first class, had two wonderful nights sleep. But the highlight is the breakfast, it is an Event!! I can honestly say this was the best breakfast I've had... I recommend the crumpets after the main course... Incredible. Many thanks for your hospitality.

Had an amazing couple of days staying at Oakfold House Hotel. We had parking on site, the property was clean and safe and the hosts Clare and Rob were so friendly, hospitable and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was amazing! The hotel is very well located. It’s close to Bowness which had lots of lovely shops, pubs and restaurants and you can do a boat trip on Lake Windermere. It’s also really close to Windermere so really convenient.Would highly recommend!
