Visited on Monday for my sister’s wedding. Staff were excellent, they were very patient with my mam and sister (mother of and bride) who are very fussy needy people. They were very accommodating with all their requests. They also were very patient with my two year old niece keeping her entertained and distracted whilst she waited to walk down the aisle and I know my wife and my sister was very thankful for this. Staff names were Dawn and Kat (unsure on spelling and the barmaid with the blonde hair (sorry I forgot your name). The rest of the staff were also brilliant. The venue was lovely, well decorated and my sister feels it was value for money. If I had to pick something to grumble at the bar was a little expensive, a Gin and Tonic for my wife cost over a tenner. There was also a sheet on the registry signing table which could have been ironed as it was creased. These two things were minor issues and only mentioned as I like to balance reviews. Thanks everyone again for a great day!…
We have returned home from a lovely 4 night stay at the Ravensworth Arms. The staff were all really friendly, room was great and the food was delicious well worth the money, enjoyed it so much we booked an extra nights stay. Thank you to Jack who served us a number of evenings - great service. Would gladly stay again. Thank you all.
Staff friendly and very helpful. Food service was quick, reasonably priced and good quality. Room was excellent, comfy and clean. Large outside areas well spaced out. Bar service was efficient with plenty of seating indoors! Large car park, overall very pleasant
I went with my family on the 28/7/22 to celebrate my sister's 60th birthday. We got there early (deliberately) so we could sit outside in a small courtyard (very pleasant) and have a good get together. We ordered our main meal and didn't have to wait long. I myself had the smothered chicken and I couldn't fault it. I asked all the members of the group if they had enjoyed the food and they all said a resounding yes! Our complements to the chef and the waiting staff. The bar staff (I wish I had gotton your names) were so accommodating and they were a huge part of the very enjoyable few hours we were there. Excellent service and chat. We will definitely be returning for sure. Thank you so much, it couldn't have gone better for the birthday girl and all
Friendly and helpful staff - hotel and bar/restaurant. Comfortable, clean room. Good range of breakfast choices. On site parking. Room separate from bar/restaurant area so not noisy. Words to fill in gaps because of ridiculous minimum word count
Average meal, wouldn’t return anytime soon. Service was good but probably over attentive, asking if we wanted desert menu before even having starter!! Did we want sauces with main meal again before being served? Hubby had mixed grill, I was gutted for him, worst I’ve ever seen, and worst he’s tasted, steak, chicken, 1 sausage, black pudding and gammon (which was so salty), 1 egg and frozen chips. I had sea food platter which was okay. Very disappointing.
We booked a Sunday Lunch and I specifically picked the Roast belly pork with crackling. The crackling was not crackling but pork rind that would have snapped your teeth it was totally inadequate. I did tell them and was told it was all like that. The Yorkshire puddings were dry and the veg soggy. It was a fairly average dinner for such a lovely place. Also the belly pork was not at all crisp but mushy on the top. Was at Al Bears in Whitley Bay last week and it was amazing.
Booked a meal for ten people to celebrate Mrs Raggy Beard's retirement. A lovely table awaited us with a warm welcome from the staff. The menu was varied so there was something to suit everyone. Our two waitresses were fantastic so friendly and authentic. We all enjoyed a brilliant occasion. Thank you so much to the Ravensworth arms.We will be back.
We was traveling to edinburgh but fancied a stop off to see the angel of the north! Great hotel, decor is lovely and bathrooms are fantastic and we even had the angel of the north in site from our window!! Food was great the night before. Couple of little niggles...the floor boards are terribly loud!! Gets very warm in the rooms and we found a couple of wood lice coming out of the rotten window frames! Breakfast wasn't the best regards to service, we sat at our table and had wait around for our order to be taken baring in mind we was only the second table there and it was 8.15am. Our drinks arrived and then half hour later our cooked breakfast came but was a little confused as we ordered continental first but we let that slide. Once finished our breakfast the lady came back with 2 more plates with the Danish pastries we ordered which then made sense of there wasn't any ready for breakfast and she had to cook them, unfortunately they was undercooked! We would stay again if passing but wouldn't choose to have breakfast.…
Myself and my partner stayed here for a couple nights go get away. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, from the beautifully clean rooms, amazing chef specials to the spectacular service. We stayed in room 6 which was a family room but we wanted the extra space, bathroom was immaculate and had a waterfall shower. Massive bed and comfy sofa. I had the chef special pork belly and it was to dye for, basically licked the plate clean. Over all an awesome weekend away. My partner had the Cajun chicken burger and it was lovely.
