Good hotel with really friendly staff. Rooms are clean, spacious and have everything you would need for a nice stay. Lovely reception area, with a great view. Food was good in the restaurant especially the cheesecake!

Hotel's Favourite
So having stayed at this hotel twice last year after covid restrictions had lifted, I was super looking forward to my August trip however upon reading reviews on TripAdvisor I was slightly alarmed. I considered changing hotel, cancelling the trip just anything to avoid what sounded like a nitemare. In the end there wasn't much alternative so off we went...Now I no the rooms are not brand new and are not super modern but they are is big, comfortable, spacious and clean. We had a double double bedded room for a family of 3 and there was plenty of space for us all to relax and unpack and unwind. View across the river was outstanding. Breakfast was organised, tasty and plenty of choice. Pool was excellent, a little busy when we first went to go down at 4PM but the lovely guy said he would call us when it got a bit quieter! Bar and restaurant area aswell as reception is absoloutly lovely with the little veranda bit outside to sit and just take In the city views. All the reception staff are so lovely but their was one In particular i want to say the girls name was Claire? But not 100% sure (she was one of the only girls at reception wearing a mask, had blonde ponytail aswell) well she was an absolute delight, so so lovely, friendly, chatty and so super helpful. Newcastle Gateshead we cant wait to come back!!

I have stayed in this hotel many times over the years and always enjoyed the experience, except my stay in April 2022. Unfortunately when I stayed in April I was very disappointed as it had an unwelcome feel to it and it was not at all clean. The staff didn’t look happy and it was a very very unpleasant stay. However as this is my favourite hotel in Newcastle Gateshead I decided to give it another visit in November to celebrate my birthday and I’m so glad I did. The atmosphere was lovely and it had its usual welcoming feel to it. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I’m very happy I returned and I enjoyed my stay so much so that I’m returning in December for another week.

Sadly this hotel is going downhill fast. This was or 7th stay his year and as Diamond members we are usually upgraded to a better class of room, For the second occasion in a row we have not been upgraded and have been fobed off that the hotel was busy with conferences and they were full up. I checked the Hilton app just before we arrived at check in and I could have booked 3 better classes of room for our 2 night stay, yet we were told there were no rooms available. I even checked later on after 6pm and same 3 better class of rooms were still available to book on the app. Everyone we met from the executive lounge staff, breakfast staff and housekeeping were friendly and are a credit to the Hilton brand. Sadly the same could not be said for the check-in desk staff who are rude and can’t wait to get rid of you. Not even a welcome back to the hotel and a thank you for being diamond members. Instead we were handed a piece of paper and told everything we needed to know was on this. It is the diamond and other frequent members that are keeping them in a job. We have stayed over 70 nights in Hilton properties throughout the world this year and this is by far the worst check-in staff we have encountered, so much so we don’t think we will revisit again and instead the next time we are visiting Newcastle we will take our business elsewhere.

The hotel looks lovely, with scenic views from the hotel reception of Newcastle and a chic bar area. My partner and I used the leisure and fitness activities which included a reasonable sized pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room, as well as a gym next door to it. I would say our experience overall was positive as the hotel was just minutes away from the city centre, the bed was very comfy and overall the hotel looked and even smelled amazing. However the reason I’m giving it an average star rating is due to the fact that when booking I asked for a special request of having a nicer view (preferably high floor) and if anything special could be done for us as we are celebrating our 2 year anniversary. When we got to our room, it was situated on the first floor in the far left corner of the hotel. We still had a decent view but I was upset to find nothing special had been done for us, not even a little card to say happy anniversary from the hotel. Normally when you have booked at a hotel for an anniversary or special occasion there is often a card, rose petals, or complimentary chocolate or alcohol. Sometimes even a swan shaped towel! I wasn’t asking for much but even some effort would’ve made us happy, we spent a lot of money for a 2 night stay to celebrate our anniversary, and we got a bog standard room. I’m sure that this may have just been a mistake and 9/10 the hotel provide more, therefore I would still recommend.

Decent location - other side of the river but not far from the station or town centre. Just across the river there is also a Witherspoon and A Hard Rock Cafe so somewhere to eat if you don't fancy the hotel. Hotel has a large turning circle outside so no problem unloading your car. And they have their own underground car park - £14 a day. The reception is grand and impressive. Everything is designed to look out over the river with large windows to enjoy the view. Restaurant is the same - large and looking out over the river (which is quite a bit below you). There is also an area to site outside, would be loverly in the summer. Breakfast was the usual hot and cold. They also had smoked salmon available which is unusual in my experience. Room was large and decently appointed - again with a view over the river (we got an upgrade I assume you need to ask / pay additional for these rooms). The shower was over the bath with a shower curtain - which isnt ideal but appreciate that only the smaller / more modern hotels have stand alone showers. There was no fridge but there had been - which was disappointing. We also accessed the Exec Lounge. Large and comfortable but not with the usual array of food and and alcohol choices I have experienced at Hilton's in London. There was some soft drinks, fruit juice, larger and red/white wine though. Lastly, the staff were all great - very cheerful and engaging.

Great location overlooking the Tyne and the Quayside and the staff were very friendly and helpful but feel it needs work doing. Stayed a few times a year over the last few years and it’s definitely going down hill. On the positive side the Exec lounge is very good with decent food and amazing views. Breakfast also very good with decent selection and lovely staff. It’s the rooms that are a bit of a let down with cracked bathroom floors, phones that look like they are from a museum and just in need or a revamp/some TLC.

Lobby and outside of the hotel were absolutely beautiful and unfortunately that’s were the good part of this review ends. Rooms are terribly outdated, ours had cobwebs near the ceiling, aircon would not turn off despite our best efforts, the fridge wouldn’t work either. Bathroom wise again needs to be updated. The grout should’ve been white and it was black (honestly had better bathrooms at places half the price) for the price of it I think it’s massively overpriced. We didn’t eat there as after a sleepless night of listening to the air conditioning turn on and off we just wanted to leave! Only plus is a bit out of Newcastle centre so avoids the traffic and clean air zone.

Our second stay here. Great view over the river from room 201 and because the room is at the far end of the corridor it was also nice and quiet. There was a bit of water damage to the ceiling from a previous leak but otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. Our daughter stayed in room 522 and found it to be noisy. It overlooks the hotel entrance and there was a function on so there was music and loud noise as people left. The hotel is in a good location for exploring Newcastle centre and you can walk in as long as you don’t mind a bit of a hill on the way back. We enjoyed the gym/pool facilities and the water temperature was absolutely fine if you have read otherwise in previous reviews. The breakfast choice was good and service was efficient. There is a car park which is a big plus for us and although it cannot be booked, there were plenty of spaces available.

Nice lobby and staff, fantastic view from our room but the room was very disappointing. An old tv that didn’t work with internet at all and only had access to the most basic of channels. I’ve had nicer rooms in every premier inn or other budget hotel I’ve stayed at and they’ve all been clean whereas mine at the Hilton was not. The bathroom had basically been given have a wipe over and the sheets had hairs and other pieces of something on them. Would not stay again as the price is extortionate for the most basic room I’ve ever had anywhere
