Our experience of the Rowers hotel in Newcastle was extremely poor. The dirt of the entrance hall which immediately sets the tone. In fairness most people in our group had a worse room experience than we had. 1. The skirting was falling off in the ensuite. 2. The shower was a telephone-like set up in a very deep bath, with no non-slip mat. 3. There wasn't enough crockery and cutlery for the number of guests. 4. The locking device on the door of our room didn't work, we had to put a suitcase against the door to deter someone fromcoming into the room at night. 5. The conservatory where we were to eat was dirty and overgrown with foliage. 6. The patio was overgrown with weeds. 7. The hotel is in an industrial estate. In fairness there seemed to be plenty of hot water in the morning. But a double room had two single beds. What I'd call a twin room. I would say that you shouldn't stay in this hotel.…
This is the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Layers of dust everywhere, worn out linen in bed and bathroom, filthy appliances, hairdryer held together with tape. This place needs a good manager, a good cleaning and updating of decor. No reception area, bar not in use and garden is completely overgrown. Don’t stay in room 8....boiler for premises switches on 5.55am and is VERY noisy preventing any sleep after that time. DONT EVEN THINK OF STAYING HERE. A ZERO RATING IS WHAT IT DESERVES.
Very Very dirty room bathroom was filthy floor tiles cracked toilet didn't flush bath had been painted and was all peeling curtains dusty bedding stained towels small with stains and holes cups teaspoon dirty would never advise anybody to stay at this hotel needs a complete makeover Very dated walls Very thin can hear other guessed read reviews before staying
Can’t fault the staff but you can only work with what you’ve got. Never slept anywhere as uncomfortable and unclean as this place. Carpets were dirty and sticky, abandoned electrical appliances in the rooms, showers rarely working, found a shirt in my wardrobe and socks in drawers. This place will give the HSE a field day.
Our first impressions of the outside of the hotel where 'oh no what have we done' but PLEASE don't judge this book by its cover, on arrival we parked behind the hotel where there is enought space for about 8 cars, we found our way into the hotel and found it to be very quirky, it has a nautical theme throughout with its round boat tyoe windows and lots of wood cladded walls, we where shown to our room which was a small twin room with everything in it that you would need for a warm and comfortable overnight stay (its not the Ritz but for the small amount these guys charge per room it was adequate) the beds where comfortable, the room was always warm, and very cosy, it was just what we needed for an overnight stay, breakfast the following morning was lovely and much more than we expected, we thought it would be continental but it was actually a full English, it was lovely, all in all we where very happy with our room and the service provided, this place is set to go from strength to strength and i hope it gets the credit it deserves…
Don’t know where all of the bad reviews are coming from, room was clean, accessible bus routes, close to the metrocentre, staff were great and friendly and breakfast was ideal. Would definitely stay again.
Used condoms and tissue behind the bed, cobwebs everywhere.. mould round shower and holes in towels, fire brigade woke us at 1am in the morning after alarm had been going off 20 mins.. not very loud and owner of hotel nowhere to be seen, apparently just popped out! ABSOLUTELY GROSS DONT STAY HERE......
We were two couples who stayed here for one night while attending a local venue. The staff were really friendly and the customer service second to none. One of our group has problems with food intolerance and is on a very restricted diet. Usually she would have her own food with her but on this occasion had left it at home! Not a problem ... the owners made a special trip to the local supermarket to buy the specific fruits and nuts that she would have brought along with her for her breakfast. There were more choices than she could eat and she was absolutely delighted with the attention to detail. Highly recommended.
We were welcomed my Cash on a arrival he was lovely parking spaces location great we didn't mind the location of the hotel very easy to find room was cosy only problem it was too hot and couldn't open window due to noise but that was my preference. Lovely little place. Breakfast hit the spot and lady serving was a breath of fresh air. Will defo go back just for the staff and breakfast. Thanks for having us x
For the money, I can't fault it. The shower was bit rubbish, the room was clean though and the bed was comfy. Overall, I couldn't grumble for 30 quid a night with off road parking, free WiFi and breakfast included, it does what it says on the tin.
