Great location just off the A1 next to the Gateshead Metrocentre. Ample free onsite parking. Room clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and accomodating with any questions. The pool was clean - we used it early before breakfast so it was not very busy at that time. The sauna and steam room were also nice feature. Breakfast was really good pleanty of choice to choose from. We would stay again,

Just spent the weekend here, disappointed by the lack of effort they put into the housekeeping. It was a shame because everything else was good, free parking, fast check in, large room and a good breakfast. I don't know whether housekeeping have a limited time per room to clean but it really needs looking at, crisp packet down the back of the bedside table, enough dust to fill a pillow case and worn shabby furniture that needs either repairing or removing.

We have stayed at this hotel over the last 30 years and really like it. Staff are always friendly good facilities - spa, gym restaurant car park. Some time now since are last visit and firstly we noticed quite a hike in the room rate. Silly frustrating comparisons to previous stays- biscuits in room only on first night of stay. 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner and 1 shower gel in bathroom 1st day, not really enough for two adults. 2nd night only shampoo and conditioner replaced. Even the 2 toilet rolls first day (1 partially used) was left at only one on day two. No complimentary bottles of water in room. Maybe we got the wrong impression but it really seemed like cutbacks. Certainly not the same value as The Radisson we stayed in on the way to Gateshead. I hope my review is read by the team as I would really like their comments. Saying all this would definitely stay there again…

I don’t usually re-review previous destinations – however, for the first time since the pandemic started, we’ve finally started to venture out, see family again and have fun again. When visiting the North-East, this is our go-to hotel, as it’s consistently clean, the staff are always friendly and the breakfast is always good. The hotel is large and roomy, and while a little dated from the outside, nice enough on the inside. In my previous review (from 2015), one of my criticisms with the hotel was that the roads leading the car park were a mess – potholes everywhere: I am happy to report that this issue has been resolved since our last visit – smooth as silk! Another nice thing: I’m sure that the air conditioning has either been replaced/upgraded. You can have your room like an icebox if you like. I can’t really fault my stay, overall. So this hotel is getting 5/5 this time. I do have, however, one small point of constructive criticism – I was happy to see the hand sanitisers around, in the lift and in the lobby. COVID is still a risk however, the pandemic isn’t over, so it would have been nice to see these in the restaurant area, especially at breakfast time. When you’re touching utensils that other people have handled, and then you help yourself to pastries, being able to clean your hands prior to eating would be good. I ended up having to walk into the lobby to do this – again, not a major point, and one easily remedied, I think. Keep up the good work, guys!…

Myself, my husband and our two children spent a few nights here as we travelled up to watch Wolves vs Newcastle for my sons birthday. The experience was great, especially breakfast, the gentleman who was there each morning (Liam) was brilliant. So friendly and funny, my son loved him as he paid particular attention to him as he knew it was his first football match. He went above and beyond for us every morning and made us feel so welcomed. The breakfast is buffet style but you can order extra items from the kitchen which we did every morning. The omelettes are amazing btw! We will 100% be staying here again. Thanks for everything, such nice people.

Booked through my MARRIOT app to stay at this property. Met by the wonderful Katie at reception. She was so friendly and attentive during our stay. In the bar we met Kai, Lewis and Mason and they too were attentive and friendly. At breakfast they discovered it was my birthday and Lauren brought me a small cake and strawberries. A great gesture. All those mentioned are great ambassadors and should be considered for stars if the month. The room was excellent and the housekeeping staff continued with their high standards. Breakfast is plentiful and caters for all tastes. Will be back for sure.

Had a lovely welcoming stay at this hotel. Couldn’t check in till 3pm but the receptionist was really helpful and allowed us to use the spa facilities and leave our bags securely. Had drinks in the bar before setting off out on the toon. All staff were exceptionally warm and friendly Really enjoyed the spa facilities. The hotel was spotless. Would definitely stay here again. the breakfast was spot on with lots of choice.

We are so glad the Marriott is back to their normal high standards, from the friendly professional Reception Staff through to all areas of the hotel i.e. overall cleanliness, breakfast, room facilities and air conditioning, will now be returning on a regular basis. And we cant thank the young man on reception enough, he allowed us to extend our check-out time due to the fact our next Port-of-Call was experiencing a storm power cut, great customer service.

Just got back from from a lovely christmas break all the staff were very friendly and professional they let us check-in early which was great but was disappionted that the pool was not open that day when they emailed e to say it would be open during my stay the rooms were clean and very spacious,bed very large and comfy the wifi excellent very fast,loved the pool and sauna,breakfast nice with plenty of choice excellent location 5 ins walk to metro centre found the staff throughout the hotel to be very friendly.
