We stayed here for 1 night hoping for a relaxing time after renovations at our home. Only to find building work going on in the room next to ours ( 103). Considering the hotel was not full of guests - why had we been allocated this room in the first place?? We complained to reception at 8pm after eventually trying to contact them via the telephone in the room, only to find that it won’t connect to reception. I had to ring them on my mobile! We were offered a drink from the bar as an apology. The following morning we were again woken at 8am by drilling. We tried to make a coffee only to find the kettle did not work. After going in the shower I tried to dry my hair and the element was burning red and smelt of fire. A note was left on both appliances and reception informed
Great location just off the A1 next to the Gateshead Metrocentre. Ample free onsite parking. Room clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and accomodating with any questions. The pool was clean - we used it early before breakfast so it was not very busy at that time. The sauna and steam room were also nice feature. Breakfast was really good pleanty of choice to choose from. We would stay again,
We booked into the hotel and all was good until we got to our room to find there was no hot water. Luckily we had showered prior to leaving home. I informed a half interested person on reception who said they’d look into it. The hot water or lack of hot water was never resolved during our stay which is totally unacceptable in an hotel and we’ll definitely not stay in a delta Marriott hotel again
Got checked in by Josie who was very attentive at the desk. The room was bigger than expected with all the amenities you required. Mobile key was sent prompted as its very handy. At breakfast the next morning I saw Lauren, Alan and Danelle working very hard. Well done for doing a busy breakfast shift. The selection was a hot and cold buffet with an omelette bar too. Check out quick and easy.
Couldn't have been better- the room was spotless, the beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly and really enjoyed using the pool. Look forward to returning. Can't comment on the food as we ate out. Plenty of free parking. Nice too that checkout wasn't until midday.
Myself, Mam and my two granddaughters recently stayed here for two nights. We chose it for the proximity to the Metrocentre. We arrived by train and got a taxi to the hotel as it was a bit far to walk for my Mam. The taxi was great it was local firm Deans who were very efficient. We had two rooms and they were opposite each other. They were very spacious with king size beds. The rooms were very clean and there was toiletries in the bathroom. There was tea and coffee making facilities. We went for a meal in the hotel restaurant, however we had to wait nearly an hour for the meal even though there was hardly anybody in. Not much choice for the kids and was quite expensive. breakfast was also expensive so we decided to go to the nearby McDonalds which was very handy and much cheaper. After spending full day shopping we decided to use the pool in the hotel. We loved this, it was very quiet and lovely and warm. Towels were provided free of charge and the kids loved the whirlpool. The hotel is great for the metrocentre and an easy walk. We also went to Pizza Hut, which is opposite the hotel.. When we were ready to go home, we booked Deans taxi again to take us to the train station and again was very efficient. We would stay here again. It wouldn’t use the restaurant due to service and price.…
Possible one of the best hotels I've stayed in ... rooms spot on if I had 1 bad thing to say would be the room was really warm not end of the world .. my son loved the swimming pool ... the star of the show had to be the breakfast was blown away by the selection of different things ... was beautiful will deffo be back keep up the good work
Just a one night stopover whilst attending the rugby at Kingston Park which is about a 10 min drive away. Hotel is a bit dated and tatty around the edges especially in the common areas including the bar. The rooms as in most Marriotts however are roomy, clean and comfortable. Breakfast fine with a decent choice and decent quality. It’s a functional place just off the A1 . Nothing exciting about it although the staff at reception, bar and breakfast were very good
I had two weeks in hotels and mostly Marriot, crowne plaza and other IHG. This was the better of the Marriots. Bit odd that I booked an executive king room but ended up with a room with two king beds for one person. Pointless and rather have a sofa and King bed as picture showed. Reception were delightful and eficient. Room had a bath and plenty of everything except water it did not have. View of Ikea not very interesting. TV was excellent unlike Leeds and I had a welcome on it. HDMI could be plugged in and wifi worked well. I had room service. Expensive and the fish was not cooked underneath. I would have given a 5 if the room type was correct and the fish was cooked. They refunded the fish otherwise would have been a 2 rating. I had to leave it and I did have loose stool day after. Not acceptable. Shame really as I did enjoy the stay I did not use leaisure facilities…
Stayed here as my wife was running the Great North Run. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Early breakfast with porridge for runners, bottles of water to help them on their way and taxis arranged to suit. What a lovely friendly place.
