Our break was organised through Just Go Holidays. We travelled by coach from the south coast. As is usual, the coach did a number of pick ups setting out at 9.00am from Fareham, arriving at the hotel about 5.00pm with a couple of comfort stops. There were thirty three in the party, check in was slick and well organised - there was no hanging around reception waiting for the room key. Our room with two singkles was large with an en-suite shower / toilet. It was extremely clean and well laid out with kettle / coffee and a TV.
Meal times were at 6.00pm for Dinner and 8.00am fro Breakfast. Please don't expect the 'goumet child size portions'. What you get is a sizeable meal of food well presented and tasty, I think home cooked style is the best description. There is a choice of three starters, three mains and two sweets. Orders for the meal choices are taken at breakfast, this sensibly avoids waste.
The hotel has 'good vibes' the staff are extremely helpful and seem to be happy working there.
Please don't go there expecting the Ritz! This is a 47 roomed hotel where all the staff work to make the stay enjoyable and stree free.
Would I book there if I were to visit Yarmouth again - definitely.
Oh, and remember, if you have a problem the staff aren't clairvoiant!

My wife and I stayed at the Waverley for 5 days from the 20th of Jan as part of a National Holiday package. We found the Hotel to be of a good standard, the rooms were a reasonable size providing a double bed, 2 easy chairs with small table and adequate storage and bathroom was large enough to provide a good size bath with over the bath shower with ample hot water throughout the stay and fresh towels daily. Tea/coffee facilities, hair drier etc. Most importantly cleanliness was 1st class.
The hotel restaurant was well ran with plenty of staff who were friendly, curteous, helpful and well drilled in their duties, The meals were enjoyable and off a set menu which you had to select on a morning for the evening meal, possibly one criticism would be some meals were to big in portion size (lasagna) and several plates were returned half full, I suppose that can't be such a bad thing if only a waste of good food. On the whole we found all staff from reception, bar staff (nice young lady) restaurant and house keepers to be first class for attitude, politeness and helpfulness which made our stay very pleasant indeed.

Stayed at The Waverley Hotel with wife and my son for 3 nights had a lovely family room which was huge and lovely decorated, had no problems in parking in street with permit issued by hotel, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for stay in Great Yarmouth, bar and restaurant closed at moment but not a problem as plenty of places to eat and drink very nearby.
Some people moaning in there reviews regarding parking, simple if cant find a space just park in car park on seafront at bottom of road over night for small fee then move it in morning plenty of spaces around in morning in street as people leave to go out or head home.
Dont let the parking issues put you off staying at this superp hotel.

We stayed at The Waverley Hotel from Friday 28/5/21 to Monday 31/05/21. We booked a twin room (first floor lift provided) and a single bedroom. The rooms particularly the twin room were large and clean. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk were not replenished during our stay as a result of COVID and neither were the rooms cleaned, however in saying this, tea, coffee, milk ect was available on request at reception and clean towels were provided when requested.
My parents are elderly and both suffer with mobility issues. My Mother's mobility scooter was stored and charged in reception. All staff were polite, helpful and courteous.
Breakfast albeit served early (8am - 9am regardless of the weekend), was plentiful and tasty.
Lady who manages the bar was friendly and took the time to chat to my parents. My Mum suffers from Dementia and loves to chat.
The only negative was the parking. We booked The Waverley Hotel as we believed it had a car park. There is on street parking and permit can be gained from reception, however as it was a bank holiday weekend, parking was challenging.
All in all, it was a lovely break. Thank you to all the staff at The Waverley Hotel xx

We searched online for a room suitable for 2 adults 1 child. Paid 160 for two nights and we were thrilled. Got there to be told that we had a small double room with no space for an extra bed. Why would they even sell us the room?! We told them he was 7. There was nowhere specified online that they weren't opening the bar or restaurant due to covid19 so we had to find breakfast elsewhere. Personally if I ran a hotel and was unable to serve breakfast, I'd perhaps print off a list of nearby cafes and opening times to help my customers. Anyway, back to the bed situation, in the end I asked if they had ANY THING that resembled a bed/cushion that we could cram in to fit my son on. A thin, greying camp bed mattress was sent up. I wasn't letting my son sleep on what appeared to be a disused dog bed so I took one night on it and his father took the next night. The room itself was smaller than the bathroom that it was attached to. I slept half in the bedroom half in the bathroom on this camp bed thing!

Free parking was advertised however its luck of the draw as to whether you find a space. It's on street parking not in a car park.

This hotel also advertised free WiFi in rooms however when it came down to it the WiFi only works in select rooms and in the main areas. Not that the main areas were open due to covid. Overall we adored our stay in great Yarmouth, we just dreaded going back to the room/sauna at night!

One thing to mention... The lady on reception was absolutely brilliant. Couldn't be more helpful and polite. The two gentlemen we came across were blunt and unhelpful.

Response from TheWaverley Hotel, General Manager at The Waverley Hotel

Dear georgiab669, Thank you for writing your review. When someone books a room, the website clearly shows the policy one is booking under and gives them a choice of rooms they can book for the number of people they are booking for. It is upto them what they chose finally, the website only suggests as per the policy. The child policy at our hotel states that '1 child under 10 years of age (now changed to 5), stays free of charge while using existing beds'. Our Extra Bed/ cot policy is that we do not supply any extra beds. All this is very clear in the policy, if read. When you book a Standard Double Room, which has 1 Double Bed, the website and us (the hotel), assume you have read the policy and are willing to have the child share the existing bed. No where in the policy or in the booking it is stated or confirmed that an extra bed will be provided for the child, unless confirmed directly with the hotel. Now under such a scenario, I fail to wonder where did we, as the hotel, go wrong. Regarding the Restaurant & Bar being closed, there is a notice on display at the Reception and also on the booking website that our restaurant and bar are temporarily closed at the moment to keep everyone safe and to maintain social distancing. Also we are currently booking only under the Room Only Policy and rates (no meals included), even your booking was made under the same policy, so no breakfast should have been expected at all. It is mentioned in the website as ' Wifi is available in public areas and is free of charge'. It doesn't state anywhere that it is available in the rooms. I hope you are satisfied with the clarification of your issues. I believe you will be more cautious in reading the policies in future to make your stay a comfortable one. I would like you to book with us in future to experience our hospitality, and contact us directly for any requests you may have. Many Thanks, A Khanna General Manager

We stayed at this hotel as part of the holiday, and we were not disappointed. Having read some poor reviews we really didn’t know what to expect!

The hotel was very well organised - the manager came onto the coach as we arrived and welcomed us to his hotel, and gave us information about the rooms, meals etc. He welcomed us individually upon check-in.

Our room was an average size, clean and at the front of the hotel with a side view of the sea. There were two comfortable lounge rooms on the ground floor.

Meals at the hotel were excellent. Self-service breakfast, with an excellent choice and plenty! At diner we were served starters and desserts at our table; we had to collect the main course from the servery. Food was well presented, hot and delicious. Like the breakfast if you wanted more food, then you were welcomed to take more!! There was a system in place to manage the queues and this worked well.

All the staff were very helpful, cheery and good team members. Can’t praise them enough for their hard work and commitment.

Bearing in mind the cost of the holiday, I really believe that this hotel provides excellent value for money.

Fantastic location and a stones throw from the Pier and lovely sea front.
Free parking?? You will be offered a resident parking permit but then its down to you to find a space.
Took us an hour to park 4 streets away then get our luggage to the hotel (travel with a 2 year old and a dialysis patient meant extra luggage) which was quite a mission.
The rooms are basic but clean and staff are friendly.
We slept well but heating can’t be changed. Its off or on at 23.5 degrees only.
Internet is horrific if you can even connect on to wifi as 3G/4G seems to not reach us in this apartment.
We had a 2 bed apartment so no noise really which was nice but no provisions offered like cot/ bed rails or even a stair gate (good job we brought our own just incase), no hair dryer but there is a kettle and tea/ coffee is provided along with bottled water.
Fresh towels are provided.
In the family room there is also a fridge which is great for little ones milk.
We booked this hotel as it offered restaurant service and offered a breakfast with locally sourced ingredients……… apparently
We are told on check-in that the restaurant is NOT open.
I now have no breakfast or ANY eating facilities for my 2 year old.
Eating out is not an issue but would have been a lot easier to have breakfast on site.
No where on the website does it state restaurant is closed!
Disappointed by this as we chose this hotel based on the fact we could have breakfast here due to an infirm guest and a child with special/ extra needs.
Based on these issues unfortunately we wouldn’t stay again

My partner & I stayed at the Waverley this week and were quite happy with the facilities on offer.
The staff were friendly, the room nice & clean. Shower gel & handsoap were supplied in the ensuite bathroom. Our room was at the rear of the building so not much of an outlook, but it was comfortable (apart from the very creaky bed).
The hotel is so convenient for the seafront but parking can be a problem. We were very lucky to get a space a few yards away from the door. The reception desk staff record your vehicle reg etc on arrival, and sort out a permit - even if it's a couple of streets away.
For a cheap getaway, the Waverley is an ideal base and I would stay there again.

Stayed at the Waverley hotel with a coach trip, staff was very welcoming, our room was clean plenty of tea, coffee, sugar and bottles of water, our mattress could have done with being changed as a little uncomfortable. Room was serviced every morning and drinks and towels were replenished, the meals were hot and had a variety to choose from on our 3 course menu. The hotel is well situated for the shops and sea front. All members of staff were friendly and helpful, we would definitely stay there again.

This was a last minute spontaneous trip, booked 4 days before our trip, so felt lucky to find a hotel with vacancies.

First impression’s when we arrived thought the outside of the building looked nice and there’s a car park next to the hotel, we thought that was good. But no, went in and checked in was told the car park is nothing to do with them and that we can have a free residents parking permit for 24hrs. Luckily we did manage to park easily outside the hotel.
We got our key card and went into our room, very basic, extremely tired deco. The room it’s self was clean but the bathroom was not. I took my own cleaning products and cleaned the bathroom.
The tv on the wall was tiny.
Our stay was only for one night luckily because I didn’t sleep all night, beds are awful mattresses are thin with springs coming through so uncomfortable, pillows lumpy. Constant noise all night, I could even hear the toilet flush from the room above as well as doors slamming and voices. There was a fan in the room, so we decided to put that on for white noise and that did help a bit.
The only good parts of this hotel are friendly staff at reception and the nice smell when you walk into the hotel.
