Detailed Reviews
Stayed overnight with a dog, who was welcomed and given treats. Good Wi-fi.
The choice of food was limited selection but very tasty all cooked by the multi talented Thomas. He always had a smile on his face, was very relaxed and welcoming. There are two bar areas. The front bar is more traditional and the rear bar come restaurant is where we chose to spend time as it’s bright and open. Food was a roast, lamb cooked really well, good portions. The breakfast room is clean and tidy, at the back of the building and really well laid out from melon to cereal, juices, plenty of hot drinks, full cooked breakfast if required, juices. Great selection.
The downstairs areas seems to have been recently decorated.
The rooms are far more dated and tired. I didn’t hear the clock tower that was previously mentioned in a review and I slept very well. It’s all very clean and tidy but does need a bit of renovation. The sink was cracked, the bathroom is from the 80s and the furniture older than that. However it’s all fully functional and in keeping what I would expect for the two star hotel rating. You do have to be realistic.
I had a room that was on offer, and overall for the money was worth it. The manager works incredibly hard, was there morning noon and night and is doing a really good job.
Stay or eat here and you’ll see what I mean. He is the star. They are advertising for staff. If you’re looking for a job I think he would be great to work for.
So, downstairs, the manager, the food definitely 5 star. Bedrooms were functional and basic more 3 star keeping in mind the hotel rating.
Overall, worth an overnight stay.

I tagged along with friends who were staying at the Kings Arms while they visited me. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming and made a fine gin and tonic. I loved meeting Kevin and Molly, the gorgeous friendly dogs in the bar. In the morning I snuck in for a cooked breakfast and it was so good. There were no menus, but it was just in the first few days after lock down had lifted. We were asked if we wanted “everything” and we got everything, delicious! Maybe they could find a new supplier for the sausages, they were a bit bland, but everything else was great. They didn’t have any decaf coffee, so I had tea, which was fine, maybe they’ve found some decaf now? It was just as things were reopening. There were cereals and fruit and croissant as well as the cooked breakfast. I hear the rooms were fine, just that the bed was a bit high for one vertically challenged guest ;-)

From the minute I arrived everyone was so helpful and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel is an old established place with some historical visitors in the past.
The rooms are clean and very comfortable (I was in 2 different rooms on trips a week apart)
The cosy lounge bar is a great place to sit and chew the fat, whether it be with locals, fellow travellers or the bar staff - Sam you have excellent taste in music!
I thoroughly recommend eating there-the steak pie is to die for.

What a find this place is. Warm welcome, efficient and friendly checkin, superb SIMPLE, UNCOMPLICATED Menu for food which was beautifuuly cooked and tasted fabulous, sensational breakfast. Service was first class.
Most comy bed ever - fabulous night's sleep. Ok, if you cast a really critical eye (if you reckon you are a competent hotel critic or merely a whinger) you could say that parts of the room were slightly tired but these guys are really out to provide a quality offer and I can assure the reader I have paid substantially more in maincore chains for significantly less.
Would I rebook here - without any hesitation - they are worth it

Booked for a single night stop. Hotel is very clean, downstairs recently refurbished and looking good. Upstairs in need of refurbishment (it is planned) but actually still in quite good condition, rooms just a little dated.
Evening meal was just curry (every Friday) but Tom (more about him later) offered to cook something different for my wife. Full Scots breakfast next day was good, all the usual accompaniments (juice, cereal etc.).
Apart from a brief glimpse of a cook during the evening meal the only person we seen was Tom, the manager. He did reception, bar, serving food, cooking and serving breakfast etc. Don't know if he has a day off but certainly little time off during the day.

Asst manager Sharon was working very hard doing multiple jobs but hotel is SERIOUSLY understaffed. She was very informative, chatty and helpful. Rooms were clean though dated - they are being updated so hopefully they'll be finished soon. Lack of proper car parking lets the hotel down. Fair play for supplying locally brewed craft beer - Lockerbie's Lowland Brewing was available at the bar.

Tom was a great host and made us feel very welcome. He was very attentive and just when you wanted a drink he reappeared! Amazing breakfast which started off the day well. Ideal overnight stop halfway to the Highlands and best thing was they allowed dogs.

Room and bathroom in need of updating but very clean bed extremely uncomfortable and hard. Staff friendly, food mediocre , pie not a pie , just stew with puff pastry on top!
It’s very central to the town and car park nearby. Lovely staircase in the hotel.

Stayed here one night on a cycling trip across Scotland. Arrived well before check-in but staff stored my bicycle in a secure room off the garage while I sat down for a late lunch. Location is in the heart of Lockerbie, one block from the train station. My room was clean and comfortable as well as quiet. The pub and dining room were very nice. The hotel was short staffed at the time, but the bartender was wonderful. And food was excellent and came out in a timely fashion despite being short staffed. Overall a great little hotel and one that I would recommend.
