We were supposed to get married in October, but due to COVID we had to cancel and it has been a stressful time for both me and my partner. Spoke to the owner expecting it to be a very difficult conversation about refunding ourselves and the guests and he offered a full refund on everything we paid and guests rooms. It is very rare you get human kindness over money but Glenn has been absolutely lovely and due to this will be staying and possibly be having our wedding/renewing our vows there in the future. Massive thank you to Glenn the owner and the hotel. You’re all amazing!

Excellent service from all the team at short notice when a nearby wedding venue had trouble during a storm.

Rather than leave the bride and groom without the day they deserved, the management team arranged rooms at this hotel to accommodate all the guests overnight and also arranged an amazing wedding reception at their other hotel close by at less than an hours notice! Nothing was a problem for them.

Well done!

went on a coach trip to Skye, last overnight stop was the Dryfesdale hotel, the staff where helpfull, and pleasant . The room we stayed in was large and tastefully decorated, every thing you could need with lovely views of the grounds. The food was excellent could not be faulted. Overall a lovely place to stay.

OYO Dryfesdale - Oh Why Oh why did we select this dreary, unloved and inhospitable hotel for the base for my daughter’s wedding. Luckily the wedding service was superb, but the happiness of the day was neatly offset by the belligerent, impatient and disinterested owner of the hotel, tired room and generally inedible food served at the wedding reception– questionable interpretation of edible steak/cheesecake/terrine of chicken, cases in point and not exhaustive. Strangely, the food served the previous evening was nice. Thinking there is a staffing issue here, namely a cook.
Probably OK for an overnight stay for a touring guests, providing their bar is set low.
I understand, from previous negative reviews, that the owner responds with counter complaints about his guests. So I expected the same when we forwarded our views to Best Western, to which this dire establishment is affiliated. Yep, he didn’t disappoint – apparently he showed great restraint in coping with some ‘unfortunate events as a result of our party’s behaviour’. Mmmmm – what would that be exactly: My daughter choking on a piece of food where the owner’s reaction was ‘did she choke on the confetti?’. Perhaps when we asked for our dinner tables to be put together for the pre wedding meal and they ended up at either end of the restaurant. The list goes on.
And – has anyone ever heard of a hotel that does not have a facility of a reception room that guests can relax after a long journey (7 hours in our case). Instead, being sent away to the nearest town for an hour? I travel a lot – I have never experienced such a cavalier attitude.
The other wedding party at the hotel echoed our experiences with this hotel and more specifically with the owner’s attitude.
I would imagine the owner of this establishment will respond to this review with his own spurious allegations. That’s if he has time as he seems more interested in running his other hotels – hopefully with a little more care than he does the Dryfesdale. He can be assured that we will ignore any of his comments and I would advise anyone reading reviews does so also.

We stayed for a wedding and the hotel was lovely, room perfect, staff attentive and service excellent. As vegan diners, the manager went out of his way to ensure that we were looked after and the food was brilliant.

Some of the earlier reviews have referenced staffing levels and whilst people were busy I thought the service was excellent. I think people forget we’ve been living through a global pandemic which has hit the hospitality sector particularly hard.

Stayed the weekend for a wedding and was impressed with how the staff were all very polite and helpful with us the full weekend. The food was very good aswell from the breakfast all the way up to the wedding food. Also have a good selection of drinks

Just a few bad points with this hotel. Cleanliness round door frames that lead outside not very good, also was informed room would be cleaned but did not happen. I personally think it could just do with a few touches just to bring some things up to standard. Also in rooms a need for proper drawers as none available but plenty of space to hang your stuff up

Lovely location, slight drone from adjacent motorway, but not too bad. Elegantly set out dining rooms, and lovely country house feel, on entering but all downhill from there. First night no food "issue with the chef", last night no food "issue with the gas" - don't believe either but they do have an issue with their ability to run a hotel. Room door left open by housekeeping on second day, room not serviced on last but one night. Standard of cleaning could be better, toilet seat did not fit correctly, all poorly installed, like a bad DIY job. A place which has seen its better days unfortunately.

Stayed at the hotel for a wedding, and so many bad points. the manager shouting at staff in the kitchen and everyone in the dining area could hear. I am allergic to garlic, so i am careful what i order. I had a sirloin steak and was given a large mushroom with garlic on it. I had a roast beef dinner and garlic was on the roast potatoes
The weather was over 30 degrees and the heating has to be on for the hot water.
The manager thought he was in the lombard rally when he sped round the dusty car park in a mini van and cover all the parked cars in dust. Staff collecting food plates before you have finished eating. The manager always seems grumpy. The bathroom was dirty.

Attended for a wedding Tuesday to Friday.. absolutely shocking service the girls were all lovely however the managers attitude was shocking I have never dealt with a more arrogant rude man in my life! Called up to enquire about restaurant service to be told and I quote ' I'll stop you right there ' excuse me ! I'm a paying guest at least have some manners. Such a shame as the location and hotel itself is beautiful and faultless just a shame it has such a rude owner which will stop me from returning. Being told at the wedding take your drink place your table card and wait outside??! We had elderly family who couldn't wait outside and wanted to sit down! Safe to say we made the most of the wedding under the circumstances but definitely won't be recommending or returning.

Just got back from working a few days in the lockerbie area, I booked the hotel through my company's travel group and set off on Sunday night. I was met by a staff member Erin when I arrived to be told that she had tried getting in touch with me through the 3rd party without success. The issue was that since I'd made the booking the hotel was getting the boiler/heating maintained and the hotel was to be closed for a day/night. I was told that they had a sister hotel sure hotel for the remainder of my trip and if it was only a few miles away, When I said that was absolutely Erin then offered to move my luggage to the sister hotel the following day. Anyway enough of my waffling, room was more than adequate, food in this hotel as well as the sister hotel was really nice. Great selection of single malt whiskeys too in their sister hotel . All the staff I met were really cheery and helpful and nothing was a trouble. I will definitely be looking to book one or the other hotel when I'm next working in that area. I know anyones plans can change and things go wrong in todays climate but i strongly belief its how a business deals with these hurdles is more important. Erin and the team passed with flying colours. Keep up the good work.

Lockerbie is lovely and also Gretna Green Outlet Village only 15 min drive away. Lots of discount shopping. A bit further on - maybe 15 mins is Carlisle. Lovely shops and restaurants, cathedral and castle. Both accessed straight off motorway. Xx
