My parents have brought my children here for the last 8 years for a few days each summer holiday. They have always chattered away about John and Janet and how lovely they are and kept telling us that we must visit. We booked a week's stay this year and we were not disappointed ! The hotel has a welcoming, homely feel to it and we were very pleased to all be in one room comfortably with 2 teenagers. The views are amazing and we liked the patio where we could leave our room and join my parents whose room also opened onto the patio. We were given carefully decorated homemade buns by Janet and the breakfasts were delicious and there was plenty of choice. John would often stop to chat and offer advice on the local attractions. He was very helpful and was able to provie leaflets. My daughter who is 14 loves plants and Janet sent her home with selection of unusual cuttings which was one of the highlights of the holiday for her. John and Jahn followed the rules carefully in relation to covid and made us feel extremely safe. There were limited guests, a one way system and PPE. We are already planning our next visit hopefully in May!…

A warm, friendly and comfortable small hotel that offers excellent service and homely facilities, although it functions as more of a guest house than full service hotel. The rooms are clean and well appointed (we stayed there during Covid, post lock down so some public rooms weren't open). What makes this a really great place is the host, John, who could teach the general manager of The Ritz a thing or two about customer service! John looked after us while his wife cooked up delicious breakfasts, which we enjoyed in the dining room over looking the town, beach and sea. John is also a fountain of tips and knowledge about Scarborough and the area. The location, next to the castle ruins and high above the town and beach, is spectacular in good weather.

We had a lovely stay here, rooms were very nice and clean, breakfast was delicious and made to order. The views are amazing - can’t beat them. Felt very safe and clean with the covid precautions in place, all very clear and organised. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Scarborough, the owner is super friendly and helpful.

Away from the noise and fuss of the front but only 5 mins walk down the hill, In a historic^ area round at Mary’s church and the castle very characterful, views incredible. The owner John is exceptionally friendly and obliging. Very pretty Georgians and Victorian streets and houses mark the walk to the harbour.

stayed here 4 nights and enjoyed the hospitality and cleanliness of the room. Recommend move tv to far end though, trying to watch tv looking around a post on a 4 poster bed is a bit awkward!!!! Excellent breakfast menu choices. Thanks John. for a lovely stay.
