Normal high standard for a premier inn but:- When the rooms cannot be serviced because of covid why do they not provide a loo brush? Just as I sat down for breakfast I was asked how I liked my eggs i replied scrambled more or less immediately scrambled eggs where put in front of me before I had chance to get juice cereal or toast I like snappy service but this is too quick

Hotel's Favourite
Together with a friend we once again enjoyed our third visit to this most welcoming and efficient P.I. My friend and I selected the Premier Plus rooms. It only costs a little extra and is located in the newer upper floor refurbished area. We know from experience it is always best to make a reservation well in advance for the best rates . Our Sunday 10th Oct arrival was met with the usual efficient and friendly service. We were advised in advance via email to arrive after 15:00. As soon as we arrived we were allocated our rooms without delay. Be aware that there is no lift in the hotel. Therefore if you require less distance to walk to your room then I suggest you contact the hotel in advance and request your preference. Premier Plus rooms are ALL located on the upper floor at present. For those reviewers who have experienced the PI - Plus rooms will know what to expect: My room and my friends were in immaculate condition. Our compliments once again to the hard working House Keeping staff. The 'essential spine' of the hotels well-being. (Management please pass on our comments). Please note: No Air Conditioning. However, a large in-room pedestal fan is available if required. The heating option is also available. The window has restricted and limited opening space. The usual wall-to wall carpet was clean and fresh. The king size bed, always the high-light of PI rooms was exceptionally comfortable. The fresh smelling sheets and pillows were a pleasure relax upon. Spare pillows were located in the built-in wardrobe space with plenty of 'fixed' coat hangers. Iron and board situated discreetly in another built-in cupboard opposite. Plenty of lighting options from bed side to work desk to 'mood lighting' above the bed. Electrical sockets in abundance together with usb ports. A most comfy wing back chair with footrest for viewing the wide screen tv situated on the wall. The bathroom / toilet contains a shower - no bath, with 'rain-shower' option. Liquid nice smelling soap in sealed containers sensibly located in the shower and next to the wash basin. Very hot water on demand, (so be careful). The PI Plus rooms offer a coffee machine with complimentary mineral water (both still and carbonated). Further coffee 'pods' and tea / milk tubs can be obtained from the 24/7 reception. We have always enjoyed our English Breakfasts at PI's. On this occasion the traditional 'buffet' service is now available rather than the previous table service. Once again we had the pleasure to be served by the most friendly and welcoming: 'Barbara', such a credit to the hotel. Management please pass on our sincere compliments and her colleagues. We did not experience dinner at this hotel so we cannot comment. We have read with disappointment many of the somewhat negative comments made by other guests. With respect we are all entitled to our opinions. Whilst we respect those alternative views, we cannot share them. My friend and I have stayed in many PI's throughout England. This is one of our favourite. Our continuing interest in Roman history and Hadrians Wall will ensure another visit in 2022. Thank you 'IN DIE ENEM BONA' ..PI: M6 - Jct 44

Room was clean though rather cold. The staff were almost surly and kept me (and others) waiting when I had a question on the second evening. I was told off for not pressing the buzzer to summon a member of staff but I was pretty sure they had seen me and a family of 4 waiting to check in so didn't feel the need to. Not sure what happened to 'the customer is always right' as didn't even get a 'sorry to have kept you waiting'!!

Spotlessly clean and quiet. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Warm and cosy rooms. Handy for days out to Gretna Green, Carlisle and surrounding areas. Retail shopping close by in Carlisle town and Caledonian Park Retail Outlet. Would stay again and highly recommend.

Plus room tv was so old the Freeview was only SD....no hd channels. Tv would only show BBC on the first day. Fixing the issue was not done until the second day of visit. Very poor service resolving reported problem.
