My stay was a dream, a pleasant dream.
The online booking was easy.
Street or formal car parking were handy and uncomplicated.
I was welcomed in a warm, friendly, sincere and informative manner by a young lady and was made to feel slightly special, which I guess I was, since I was one of the few permitted travellers during lockdown.
The room was spacious with tall ceilings, clean , comfortable and elevated well above the Carlisle skyline, giving lovely, unoverlooked views, and lovely morning sunlight being Easterly orientated.
The bed was very comfortable and I had a great nights sleep.
The morning shower was spot on, and I felt invigorated for the day ahead.
Covid prevented breakfast being served in house, but the Travelodge location is smack in the middle of town, and a short walk from high street take- aways.
All in all, an excellent experience, and I’m just sorry that I didn’t catch the receptionists name, in order to formally commend.
Thanks for the care that I received and this opportunity to review

The thing with Travelodge is you know what you are getting. You know you need to pay for wifi (first 30 minutes free, then ÂŁ3 for 24 hours after that), you need to borrow a hairdryer (none in the rooms) and no place for your luggage if you arrive early, unless you want to pay ÂŁ10 to get in your room at 12. Premier Inn offers a little more "luxury" in the cheaper brand range, but the Premier Inn closeby was twice the price, so I opted for the Travelodge this time.

And I wasn't remotely disappointed. The room was clean and quiet, the view quite pretty (over the building rooftops) and there was tea and coffee in the rooms. I did pay for an early check in (and ÂŁ10 for three hours is not bad).

I did have a couple of small problems: on check in - they thought I hadn't paid (my card is international), but when showing them my online bank statement, they were happy to accept I had paid. The other issue was with the security card for the main and room doors. I needed to go back to reception four times during my two night stay. Apparently, if you keep the card with your regular bank cards, the magnetic strip can be affected and stop working. Not a big deal at all though, these things happen.

The hotel is in a perfect, central location, five minutes from the main shopping area, including The Lanes shopping centre. It is also close to restaurants, pubs and bars and really is in an ideal location. If you do stay here and fancy dinner somewhere, I highly recommend Sannas (an Italian restaurant) close by (check out my review).

Carlisle Central Travelodge provided a comfortable stay with the main city centre street, Botchergate only a minutes walk away. The accommodation was excellent, sporting their bright red bathroom, a personal favourite of mine. The staff were excellent and accommodating. My only gripe is the fact that WiFi remains chargeable at Travelodge when this is standard within almost all other hotel chains. On this occasion, we had booked during a promotion therefore not a huge issue however under normal circumstances, the room rates Travelodge charge are comparable with competitors who do offer free WiFi.

One of the poorer Travelodges. Staff are fantastic but the room we stayed in was not clean, cobs webs hanging from the ceiling. There is no air conditioning and the rooms do get extremely hot to the pointing that we could not wait to get out of them each day. We even wasted our money on purchasing the extended checout as we could not bear the heat`

The rooms are not serviced each day, so when you come back in the evening the room is just how you left it, no towels were replaced bed not made and room not cleaned., We mention this to the reception and the young lad told us that we had to request this each day, which is something I have never had to do in other travel lodges or other hotels.

The travel lodge Liverpool. Is far superior to this one course you will not find the bar at the Carlisle Travelodge open late however the one in Liverpool is open till about 4 am. The drinks are extremely expensive twice that of the local bars, the breakfast I have tried and if I have personally found it to be very poor quality ingredients, you’re better off trying to find a weatherSpoons.

Needless to say I will not be staying at this venue again.

The lady who checked us in at 3:10pm on Monday 5th August was extremely rude... no 'hello' or similar welcome, not even a smile and no directions to our room.
Despite checking in after 3pm, when we got to our room it was still being 'cleaned' (I say cleaned in this way as it definitely hadn't been cleaned thoroughly!) so I've no idea why the rude woman put us in that room.
The shower was full of the previous guest's hairs, the floor clearly hadn't been hoovered, nor the room properly wiped down and dusted. The handwash dispenser was empty which is ironic given that they have signs up telling you to wash your hands when you leave and get back to your room!
The windows barely opened so it was also extremely hot!
Very cheap and a good location but at a cost!

From the moment we checked in the staff held the highest standards of customer service. We really felt welcomed and relaxed after a 6hr journey. The rooms were clean and spacious, you could tell house keeping took pride in their work. We requested a top up of towels half way through our stay which also wasn't an issue. We booked in for breakfast on 2 mornings and both times food was hot and delicious with Michelle being an excellent host and serving us. Michelle was just brilliant and her laugh.......out if this world!! Josh was on reception and again he is a huge asset to this hotel. His personality shone through and his customer service was flawless. The price for 4 nights was very reasonable considering you are bang in the centre of Carlisle with everything you need within walking distance. All in all we had the perfect little break and certainly didn't want to leave. Huge Thank you Team Carlisle Central see you again soon.

Up to the usual high standard of Travelodge, room ok with all the usual stuff you would expect.
Staff have been very good, they do not have their own car park but there is on-street parking outside which is operated by a parking disk free from reception but only for 1 hour no problem for overnight.

Usual good price on room so very happy

Rooms could do with some storage as it was very basic. However towels were changed on request and bins emptied and coffee etc. topped up. The coffee provided in the room had a very strange almost salty taste.
Overall the hotel, as in other Travelodge's that I have stayed in, are nowhere near as good as Premier inn for comfort and amenities and I would generally pick PI over Travelodge given the choice.

Truly terrible, obstructive, deliberately difficult man on reception Sunday evening, August 16th 2020. Came across as in a bad mood so taking it out on the customers.
Room was fine, although the running water smelt of burnt rubber, which was odd.
Spare pillows and the bed runner were in the room despite the current pandemic, which is something that other hotels have removed for Covid safety. Was told I’d need a disc to park for an hour out front, asked for a disk, then was told I don’t need one until 0830. It’s worth taking into account that you’ll need £10 for 24 hours car parking when comparing other options.

The Cecil Street car park is about a 5 minute walk away and from memory is cheaper than those nearer the hotel, £3.50 for up to 24hour if I remember rightly and it’s payable via an app. I can’t remember which one but there’s was a QR code on the payment machine when I was there last. If needed, there are PodPoint 7kW AC EV chargers available there as well. Check out the PodPoint app for charging tariffs. You can also get directs to the car park using that as well.
